Except for the fact that "tares" do have friut but turn black and are poisonous or bitter. So the statment might be well done but very wrong. According to my Greek English lexicon and several other study tools the tares are "a kind of darnel, bastard wheat that resembles wheat except that the grains are black which are not revealed until harvest time.

True enough, but they still grow "together" with the wheat until the time of harvest.

Maybe we can Massorite. In the parable, the workers in the field asked if they could go and uproot the tares but were told not to in order to not accidentally uproot the wheat. God says we can know who is his and who is not by the fruit being produced. If we have a keen sense of discernment, prayerfully obtained, we can differentiate who is doing the Father's work and who is not. Doesn't mean we can judge unto condemnation those we believe might not be, only he can truly see the heart.

Anybody ever wondered exactly what this passage means? I have!

Matthew 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: 25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? 28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. I believe that the "tares" are the unsaved people , and the "wheat" are the saved people. The "tares" go to the lake of fire, while the "wheat" goes to Heaven [ barn ]. My opinion here.

The comment comes from what I like to call Jesus' State of the Union Address.

The union is rather the kingdom of Israel.

Matthew 13 (KJV)

1 The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.

2 And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;

There are indeed some things in this chapter that we can apply to the Church. But we must remind ourselves that it was God's plans for the Jews to lead the way in the Church. But because of their infiltration by the enemy at several points in history, and the corruption of the leadership, the Jews rejected their own destiny when they rejected their own Messiah. And this State of the Kingdom address points out how this came about. One of the tares sown in the wheat field for example is how in Exodus 18 when Moses did not as much as consult the Lord about his father-in-law's suggestion to create what turned out to be the Sanhedrin that eventually tried and condemned the Holy One of Israel (the Ultimate Innocence) to death on a cross. Jethro was a pagan priest of Midian btw. It sounded good to Moses (Jethro's suggestion)... but he did not consider ...

Proverbs 14:12 (KJV)

But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you. 19 You will say then, "Branches were broken off that I might be grafted in." 20 Well said. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either.

This is much simpler than some of you are making it out to be....

The wheat are those who are faithful, the tares are those who gather among the faithful but are not.

This reminds me of a quote from Martin Luther King, "In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends."

Those "silent friends" are the tares growing up among us, who seems like one of us...but are not.

No one being haughty here. I am merely reporting what scripture teaches... and I am all about getting the natural branches grafted back in. I spent years learning how to witness Jesus using just the Tanakh to witness to Jewish people.

May I ask if you have done as much for the Jews?

I agree. have never understood the wheast and the tares to be speaking about anything other then the church of today. There are people whom we sit next to every Sunday who will some day turn us in for being a Christian to save their own hide.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. 

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. 
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house. 

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
