A lot of people may have recovered very well with no problems.   They won't likely be in the news though.  (they did not use drugs nor worry at all)

search for yourself online if able,   to see how european clinics handled a lot of various viruses the last century or two, without cause for concern.

also,   from further back  from the middle ages,   see which cities or towns 'survived' the plagues,   with virtually no deaths or major problems when the other cities had huge problems ....

also, check with @George if he is available to see how effective colloidal silver has been IN ISRAEL , for those who have used it .....

to warn is not to fear monger... I personally think this one is much worse than Sars was and the size of the quarantine indicates the authorities know this, But as with any virus there will be some who are more able to resist it where as the elderly and the infirmed will struggle. BTW 59 recovered, 82 deaths... If that is an indicator more than half will die???? (Question marks indicate a big IF)

there are three I'm using to keep track of statistics...  South China Daily Post, A collaborative effort between Johns Hopkins and several Chinese health and education institutions, and BNO news.   They are updated at different times but over the past 5 days or so, all have proven pretty reliable....they eventually agree with one another pretty well.

South China Daily Post   (scroll down a bit to find the table where they update official numbers)

John Hopkins University/CSSE   (some useful graphs over time......only updated once or twice a day...but they do catch up eventually)

BNO News    (remarkably frequently updated....i've checked their "sources" a number of times and found every spot check a reliable source so far...often the most up to date of the three)

i think you're right about the big "if".  for now we just don't know enough.   The Lancet Journal study of the first 41 cases, implied a 15% mortality rate....but given the tiny sample size, that's probably not a reliable number.  Other factors and a lot of assumptions considered it appears for now the mortality rate is coming in around 5%.

It's easy to count deaths, a bit harder to count recoveries....and recoveries take longer to manifest ....so direct comparison of deaths to recoveries is likely to overstate the mortality rate by quite a lot....for now at least.

Given the astonishing rate of infections and rate at which they are increasing, 5% is still a very concerning number....and the trend is upward still.

The real problem is we can be pretty certain the official numbers are not accurate....and severely understated.

What Are the Treatments for MRSA of the Nose? | Healthfully

Jul 27, 2017Colonization. MRSA bacteria often live in nasal passages for years without ever showing any symptoms. In fact, the vast majority of hospital workers are colonized with MRSA in the nose, meaning that the bacteria have an established colony, but are not spreading or causing active infection.

A lot of people might die just because they are malnourished - have a weak immune system,   and get weaker when unhelpful things are used on, in, or near them.

Just to give you a comparison, the Spanish flu of 1918 killed 50 million 500 million having been infected, which is about a 10% mortality rate. The early signs are this may be about the same if not worse, with the number in critical condition being around 200 221 serious, 69 critical  in the epicenter of the outbreak. Now the question is have they contained it enough? Is it air born? how is it transmitted? All these will add to the big If. We know it is reaching the world because of modern flight and travel and if it reaches less controlled area (third world countries it may explode out of control, so we need keep an eye on this. You said a 15% mortality rate, imagine that over 500 Million people, and here is the concern.

Some of most or at least a lot of that information has been re-written by the victors. (remember history is re-written by the victors)....

To find out the actually information may require to seek and to keep seeking,   if there is or while there is still time.
