Then he took the body down from the cross and wrapped it in a long sheet of linen cloth and laid it in a new tomb that had been carved out of rock. This was done late on Friday afternoon, the day of preparation, as the Sabbath was about to begin. Luke 23:52-

Wednesday afternoon (about 3 pm) on Nisan 14 He died and His body taken. Before the High Sabbath of Unleavened Bread was to begin was the 'preparation day' and is well annotated in scripture. On Saturday eve Yeshu arose, Nisan 17 which was the weekly Sabbath. Exactly 72 hours dead as He said repeatedly. 'Friday' is not mentioned.. this is just church tradition from RCC and other sources. If you observed, I am not quoting "tradition" - but God's holy Word: Luke 23:52-54
