How about Mott the Hoople and their singer songwriter Ian Hunter who also had a successful so!o career.

Ian Hunter ~ Mott the Hoople - All The Young Dudes. Yes, I did like this tune. Ian was a bit of a wild guy. All The Young Dudes did leave some questionable lyrics at the end of the song that made me inquizitive. The song version they played on the local FM rock 'n' roll station we had here locally was pretty liberal.

Anyway, all that aside, back to Mott the Hoople's song. There were certain rock personas who more or less came out and hinted at notes of bisexuality. They were, David Bowie, Elton John, Mick Jagger, Gary Glitter, and yeah, even Ian Hunter also gave questionable wonderings on All The Young Dudes (Live)

"You see that guy? The one in the glasses? Yeah, that's the one. Tell him I want him. I want him down here in the front. That's right. Bring him to me, 'coz I want him."

Then Ian chuckles a bit at the ending of the song and remarks, "I've wanted to do this for years!"

Oh my goodness, Ian. Not you too? :b:

Tom Jones.  My favorite was What's New Pussycat?

The second hit by Tom Jones on local AM radio, KONG. It was the song track to the film of the same name. Yes, this is still my favorite Tom Jones song. An instant "Like". What's New Pussycat?

"You and your pussycat eyes...

You and your pussycat lips...

You and your pussycat nose..."

Loved it!

I think the song was written by David Bowie.  Whatever Ian Hunter felt about the song, he was .married twice, had a couple of kids, and was married when he died ... although that was not listed as the cause of death!  Seemed like the Kinks had a suggestive song with Lola, and then there is Lou Reed and Pete Townsand.

I am not familiar with Cliff Richard although I heard his name before.  I was quite fond of a little known British band called Bebop Deluxe.  The cover of my favorite album showed a totally naked girl holding a flaming guitar over her head.  I had the poster on my apartment wall when I was living in California in 1975-78.

David Bowie covered All The Young Dudes. David was also married twice. Angela was his first, Iman was his second. Angela is also an admitted bisexual, she and Bowie had two children. I wasn't a follower of Hunter so his history isn't well known to me. Lola was a transvestite Davies encountered at a club in Soho and it's a tongue in cheek song as the lyrics mention, "it's a shook up world" we live in.

Ray and Dave Davies are straight as arrows, the others mentioned were not. Lou Reed is gay, Pete Townsend, though married and straight, was molested as a boy (many are) and led to curiosities. These things do happen. Being bisexual does not stop a person from taking advantage of either genders when it comes down to it. All The Young Dudes, live version by Ian Hunter/Mott the Hoople, is as it is.

We won't mention the British album cover by Blind Faith. It was banned in America but imports made their way here. I've seen it but do not have a copy of it. Banned in the United States were also Electric Ladyland by Jimi Hendrix and the Country Life LP by Roxy Music. There are probably more, but these I'm recalling off the top of my head having been in so many used record shops here. The British have much less stringent censorship standards. I'm speaking album covers but not the albums themselves.

In 1965, Capitol Records released a compiled collection of song list from The Beatles, Yesterday And Today. There were selections on it that are on record albums in Under Parlophone but not in America. It's a nice mix and the first Beatles album I received from my sister. I was officially passed the torch and carried on the race unto the finish line.

On Yesterday And Today some songs had yet and never were officially pressed on LP in England. Yesterday, Paul's song, We Can Work It Out, Day Tripper, and Act Naturally, Ringo's song by country star, Buck Owens. The original album cover was massed produced and issued here in America. Censors felt it was in poor taste. Ans it probably was at that time.

I'll admit it wasn't the best picture of the guys. And no, my album was not "the butcher cover" LP either. Realizing the mistake, Capitol put new covers over the mistakes they made. Many received them and steamed by an iron, tea kettle, or whatever method they could to peel off "the trunk cover" photograph. Results varied and some were ruined, unfortunately.

Several years ago, Yesterday And Today was released after copywrite holds were let go. CDs were issued with both versions, I bought a "butcher cover" version at Best Buy electronics. Walmart refused to offer it and sold "trunk cover" issues instead. They were all the same songs of course, and also a pretty great album in my opinion. I was ecstatic to have it.

P.S. I Love You! (Beatles song)

By the way, I had at one time in my vinyl collection rare monaural releases of Stg. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Magical Mystery Tour. On these albums are several vastly different sounds from a number of the songs from these LPs. (sigh) No longer in my possession. These are rare to find and well worth having for audiophiles who appreciate the The Beatles records. They were in producer George Martin's opinion, the better versions of his work in recordings.

Monaural recordings of The Beatles albums were done up to the double LP, White Album. Prior to this all The Beatles were recorded in 4 tracks. The White Album in 8 tracks, as was Abbey Road and Let It Be. Yet one more Capitol Beatles album of compiled top 10 hits was released called, Hey Jude. These songs had not been issued on LPs from England or America previously. Another nice mix of songs over the years. Thanks, Capitol. You weren't all that shabby after all!

I also purchased The Kinks, Kinda Kinks (1965) LP back in the Summer of 1966. Albums during these days usually had about one or two hit songs and the remainder were fillers pretty much. This was their second LP and the song, Set Me Free was why I wanted it. Great song. What was really a pleasure were the other terrific tunes on the record. Here's Something Better Beginning, off the Kinda Kinks album.

P.S. This was also another song I could never figure out how to play on the guitar!

Something Better Beginning

The Kinks

They said this was the last dance
The lights went dim as I looked round the floor
Then I saw you standing there
Then I walked up to you and I asked for this dance

The band had started to play
I held you hand and I sighed
Is this the start of another heart breaker
Or something better beginning
Something better beginning
Something better beginning

I never thought I'd love like this until I met you
I found something I thought I'd never had
The only time I feel all right is when I'm with you
I wonder how long it will last

I walked you home in the night
The moon shone bright as we walked hand in hand
I've known this joy once before
But it came to an end just as it had began

Each step that I took with you
Brought one thing closer to my mind
Is this the start of another heart breaker
Or something better beginning
Something better beginning
Something better beginning

Rough Boys written by Townsend is certainly gay inspired.  But irregardless, I am not a Who fan, David Bowie, Beetles, Rolling Stones, or Lou Reed fan either.  I never bought any of their LPs.  My musical tastes are somewhat eclectic.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
