Also masculine titles such as Father, Husband, Strong Man and Warrior are applied to Him. However, we shouldn't get caught up in trying to understand Yahweh as a "male" per se. Because assigning Yahweh a "gender", in our earthly understanding, implies that He is a male-type for a female-counterpart, which isn't true. Therefore, it's good to refer to Yahweh as He, Him and Father and understand Him as such, but not necessarily limit Him with our term "male", if that makes sense! Welcome to the forum. As the Bible calls God, God the Father, I accept that he is male. C. S. Lewes wrote about the masculinity of God that he was so masculine that he made us look femine. However, God is all-knowing; and addresses Himself in the masculine throughout the Bible (His own communication to humanity). This strongly suggests that God wishes us to perceive Him as a masculine figure - our heavenly Father; i.e. our provider and protector. Obviously, Jesus (God incarnate) is a human male. Not a stupid question at all! God in the person of Christ Jesus is male. Prior to his incarnation, God the Word was just as without gender as are the Father and the Holy Spirit. God is Spirit and transcends gender. Gender at its most basic definition is two sexualities that contribute to procreation. God creates persons, places, and things lower than himself. God does not procreate God. God created masculinity and femininity (some believe from aspects of both within himself). ← I personally believe this is arrived at by those who misunderstand what it means to be created in God's image and after God's likeness. Jesus (the Last Adam) is the ultimate human prototype. See 1 Corinthians 15:45 The first Adam (our human prototype) was created in the image of the Last Adam (who is God incarnate). Jesus is also the visible image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15). That's what it means to be made in the image and likeness of God. The thing to understand about God is that [he] ← which we assign gender pronouns to to keep from calling God "it" which connotes God as impersonal, but rest assured God is very much a person (three persons actually). And in a male dominated world (if for no other reason man was created first) the leader / head / beginning / forebear is expressed as masculine. But the thing to understand about God is that he can identify with each one of us. He is omniscient (all knowing). He knows intimately our deepest everything! Ladies, you can go to God with as much confidence that he understands how you feel and are as any man could. It the question is intended to be far less deep than this... God has no gender. Jesus (who God the Word, some call the Second Person of the Trinity) is a man (male). Currently in his resurrection state since the third day after his crucifixion.
