No one is saying... “don't share the gospel unless the unbeliever ask questions first”. NOT at all. What is being said is that once the individual has heard the gospel, that it is a bad idea to nag and badger an unbeliever till they make a confession of faith. Once an individual hears the gospel, then it is then up to them to decide what to do with that information. Badgering them, is a real turn off and most often drives them further away from you and making it more difficult for others to also share the gospel with the same individual. They are more likely to give a false confession of faith just to get the admonisher off their back. If they don't truly believe in their heart, the confession of faith is empty because they don't truly believe.  There is a difference in bringing up the topic on occasions if there is an opening, and flat out badgering a person every time you come into contact with them to believe because you know that they should, whether they want to or not.

However, what I have stated above is not the original poster's situation.  From the original post we can surmise that “Ted” has heard the gospel, due to being around his mother and sister, but to me, it sounds like Ted more than likely does not have a full grasp of the gospel message and is seeking. The original poster is simply seeking advice on how he should speak with Ted, from Ted's point of view concerning the issue at hand that will lead Ted into the right direction.

I think you need more information.  What does he mean when he says he's not a Christian like his mother?  I'm not a Christian like my mother either, but I am most certainly a Christian with faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

So I don't know what that means really.  I'd have to find out more about what he meant.
