Update:

Since certain individuals see fit to stalk, disturb, antagonize yours truly in this thread (after I deleted my posts in their thread to start this one), rather than attempt to rid this thread of the "invasive cancer" I have abandoned it and have started yet another attempt to peacefully demonstrate the points of the make up of man according to scriptures.

I have reported said individual, and will do so again and again should they attempt yet another stalking / trolling spree in the new thread.

God bless you.

No, this is not about Egyptian face paint (which both men and women wore) or

even about Michael Jackson or Boy George...

This is about what the Bible teaches that mankind is made up of.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 (AV)
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Color scheme is mine to make several points, not the least of which is that every quantum part of us is all three

as long as we are alive (which is defined as these parts being assembled together see Genesis 2:7).

The preacher says:

Ecclesiastes 9:10 (AV)*
10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

*Note: Ecclesiastes is as the Book of Lamentations II.  Which all is true from the emotional perspective in this life. But not everything listed is meaningless or without purpose.

But from the account of Jesus on the subject of life after death we read:

Luke 16:19–31 (AV)
19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house:
28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

1. This cannot be the resurrection state of man since life here on Earth continues at the time of this event (see verses 27-30 above). The resurrection occurs at the end of life on Earth (Revelation 20:10-15).

2. Notice the physical traits of these disembodied spirits (I reiterate, the term soul applies to when the spirit and body are united see Genesis 2:7). The disembodied spirits in the account above have consciousness, sight, speech, hearing, touch (agony in the fire), thirst, worry, concern for others, hope that they can avoid this place of suffering... there's no reason to believe all autonomous functions are in our bodies only... but that our spirits indwell / occupy / are part of every aspect of our physical being (which is why I made the depiction of the make up of man with all three parts as fully formed).

This may give a sound reason for amputees having phantom pain from a limb that they no longer have. It is generally accepted as psychosomatic or "nerve memory." Interesting though... it's always pain and never pleasure that phantom pain. J/S

Note: Abraham's Bosom has been empty since the death of Christ on the cross:

Ephesians 4:8–10 (AV)
8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

The Bible teaches there are three aspects resulting from death (the separation of the human body from its spirit).

1. lifelessness and degradation

2. consciousness

3. non-existence.

Number 1 we are all too familiar with. No one escapes death of others until our own death.

Number two

Number three

Incomplete (will edit / complete as soon as possible).

Fail.

The "spirit" in question has eyes, a finger, a tongue, and feels torment. He is not disembodied.

It is a parable based on Jewish mythology. It's not a real place.

Then prove it.

Let me get something out of the way to preclude later straw men. I 100% wholeheartedly embrace and will assert the human being is comprised of body, spirit, and soul. Hebrews 4:12 makes it quite plain and clear there is a distinction between soul and spirit.

But the soul is not the intersection of spirit and body. We don't just have a soul; we are souls.

Yes--Amen--this addresses 'ontology' and clear in Genesis.

My turn.

I asked you a question in the other op and believe it went unanswered:

Does God have a soul?

I will wait so as not to interfere.

Which in your view negates 1 Thessalonians 5:23.

I see...

Then please, cut this verse out of your Bible to suit your extrabiblical theology. And be done with it.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 (AV)
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 4:12 (AV)
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

According to Josheb this is unbiblical. The physical and the soul cannot be separated because they are each other.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
