Note to the millions of people living near the Atlantic and Gulf coasts: Be prepared to batten down the hatches, it'll be a rougher than normal season for tropical storms.

With seven storms, including two hurricanes, already recorded

Yeah...it's always great to get news like this when you live 15 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. Thank the Lord we were able to get a generator this year so at least we can run a fan when the lights go out! I really hate hurricane season!

I heard on the Weather Channel that not only will there be more tropical storms, but that the storms are more severe and last longer than usual, because of all of the above conditions you mentioned. I guess these are some of the 'birth pains.'

I grew up in New Hampshire where we only had to deal with Blizzards. I have lived in NC East Coast for a year and I have experienced my 1st hurricane last September. Scared me!!!

I live in SC just over the border from NC, so we do get some of the effects of hurricanes here. I have family in Charleston, SC and in FL, so they get regular exercise in hurricane watching. I don't envy them.

I've lived in NC since 1976 so I have weathered several hurricanes. The worst one for me was Fran in 1996 that came into the Triad. PTL we had no damage to our home but lost a great number of trees and no power or water for a week. I had a 3 month old baby (first child) and then my pregnant sister and her husband stayed with us for 3 weeks the day after the hurricane hit. Only advise is to be prepared with non perishable food, store containers of water and plenty of batteries for flashlights! If your plumbing runs on electricity, then just before the storm hits, fill your bathtubs up with water for bird bath bathing and flushing of the toilet.

You probably know all this already. Just pray and know that God will always be with you!

Constant, I did not know you lived in NC!!! This is great, I'm not too far (Maryland). Maybe one of these days I'll pass by and chat live with you!

For some reason I always thought I would like to retire in North Carolina or South Caroline, but not too near the coast, you know why!

I am not looking forward to the Hurricans this year but, I am prepared for them!
