It so happens I listened to a podcast last week about notorious con man Joseph Weil, who swindled people for decades. Late in his life, he wrote: Man has all the bestiality of the animal, but is cloaked in a thin veneer of civilization. He is inherently dishonest and selfish. The honest man is a rare specimen indeed.

If someone is nice or compassionate or willing to lay down their life for others... like our military and police and EMTs and firefighters do every shift... we presume they are good. The Bible, the Word of God the creator of mankind says we are not good. And that the minimum standard for being good is perfectly keeping God's perfect Law... which no human other than the Lord Jesus could keep. So how is it we keep asking how God can allow bad things to happen to "good" people or how God can send "good" people to hell? John 3:18 states humans are predestined for hell for unbelief in Jesus. This is the result of human sin. And the modification of John 3:17. Otherwise all sinners would go straight to hell. Jesus came to save hell-destined sinners. If they die in that unbelief or reject that one and only way to be saved... Question: Those who we deem "good," have they ever committed a sin any sin? Then they are not good. We attempt to dumb down the perfect Law standard but it makes no difference. God is the arbiter of good and evil and he gave us his Word to show it to mankind (but with the one way out of hell which he paid dearly for us to even have the choice). I don't assume everyone is good. Quite the opposite.

Good in the eyes of man...thats a joke, Word says, He thinks NOTHING like mankind. And Christains tend to vear off into Zoroastrianism, thinking there is a evil god who creates evil in this world, And a good God who does all good.... Where Hashem corrects that very mindset. Saying, "I form the Light and the darkness, I make Shalom, and Create EVIL, I The LORD Do All these things" Most translations was scared to write Evil in that verse, bc of Thier doctrine...it's very plain in Hebrew tho. Hashem uses Evil for good in the end, it's a tool. -That we as His people must overcome. He personally Has NO Enemeys, that's impossible. Unless you believe in multiple gods. In Genesis 22. We see "And God Tested* Abraham" The Word "Nissah-Tested" in Hebrew is derived from Neis-a banner" that flys above a army....Hence the verse would be rendered "And God ELEVATED* Abraham" trial upon trial. Men can be counted Rightoues, but none is good. God don't even wanna see human poop, Hes that clean! He said in Torah to bury it outside the camp, bc He wld be dwelling within the camp, showing you how clean and pure He is.....you can truly say, if your house or body is unclean His Spirit will not want to rest upon that person, if your filled full of bacon, lol He don't wanna rest His spirit on that person Defiled by a nasty animal. If there's dog poop all over your floors, He don't wanna be in that House! This is a side of God people in today's time people don't even consider. This verse helped me along with the verse “bring me back into the glory WE shared before the world was.” As far as why we believe people are good- we look at their fruit. When good/fruitful/Bible-believing people who are the salt and light if this earth are taken from us, out of grief, we question God. But I think we all know that us mortals are not “good” according to God’s standards. Easiest way to understand Jesus is God (the Word incarnate) among God the Father and God the Spirit is: Jesus is the sole Creator of all things created in the beginning (Isaiah 44:24, John 1:3, Colossians 1:16, Hebrews 1:2 = Genesis 1:1) He wasn't alone but acted alone (John 1:1-2, 1 John 1:1-2, Genesis 1:1-2) ← I call that apologetic "the ol' one - two" And yes, you are exactly right... good by GOD'S STANDARDS ← i.e. the Law of Moses...
