Isaiah 53:

Is this a prophecy, is it about the profile and the accomplishments of the Messiah and how it will happen.

Can someone who claims to be the Christ be the Christ without the marks on his back that he recieved the lashes. And the marks that he was perched on his side, the testimony that he had died.

This topic isn't about a spiritual gift but a certain scripture. The reason I post it here is because folks who believe in gifts use this scripture often. Its my belief that this scripture is misunderstood and I would like a friendly discussion on it. I believe Isaiah 53 isn't about physical healing but spiritual instead. Think about it, if sinners were physicaly sick we would all be phicically sick with disease but this isn't the case. We are all spiritually sick however. This Isaiah sripture is for us all too. We are all spiritually sick without Jesus to heal our spiritual man. Jesus said a sick man needs a doctor, and he was referring to spiritual sickness not physical and so is Isaiah (Mark 2:17)

I agree with you concerning Is. 53:5. ..Isa 53:5  NKJV But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

However, Jesus quoted a different portion in Matthew which does speak of physical and healing.

Mat 8:16  When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick,  Mat 8:17  that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: "HE HIMSELF TOOK OUR INFIRMITIES AND BORE OUR SICKNESSES."  This is the Holy Spirit's translation of IS 53:4 according to Mathew.

The literal translation seems closest.   Isa 53:4  LIT.  Surely He has borne our sicknesses, and He carried our pain; yet we esteemed Him plagued, smitten by God, and afflicted.

G769   (Strong). ἀσθένεια.  astheneia. as-then'-i-ah

From G772; feebleness (of body or mind); by implication malady; moral frailty: - disease, infirmity, sickness, weakness.

We have to take into consideration that the events in Mathew 8:17 happened before the events of the Cross and not after.

Isaiah in 53: 5 describes something as a result of the Christ being published first and not before.

First we must have the punishment inflicted on Christ and his death then we can apply "by his stripes we are healed", this requires the Christ to receive the lashes first, which will leave the marks on his back, "the stripes ",

If we do not have the stripes, we cannot have the fulfillment of 53: 5.

In Mathew we do not have the stripes yet and the observer of those events notice what was happening before the stripes.

Jesus Christ did not make that comment, it was Mathew who made that comment and he did not made that comment when things were happening in Mathew 8:17.

He rather made that comment when he was looking back years later after the Cross, when he looked back , but in any case he could not say that, about 53:5 because those things happened before and not after the stripes.

Esaias 53: 5 cannot be apply to the whole world but only under those who were under the Law.

Who were punished from their Lord God with sickness and disease and other deformities because of their hidden sins, as it is described in the Sinai Covenant.

The sins of the parents are upon their children up to third and fourth generations.

Isaiah is describing the end of that part of the Law, with the end of the Sinai Covenant

That with the Christ suffering and punishment with lashes unto death. As Isaiah continues after the lashes to say that he pour his soul out unto death.

53:5 talks about the time that God will no more punish his people for their sins with sickness because Christ was punished for them.

As we understand that in the new Covenant we do not have this part of the old, which was part of the Sinai Covenant and not of the new Covenant.

Which is: the sins of the parents upon their children...

That's why 3disciples said , who sin that he was born blind.

And when Jesus healed the man in the pool he told him "do not sin , so something worst won't happen to you.  As they were still under the Law of Moses.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
