1Cr 15:31 I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.

What does that mean? I remember by old pastor bringing it up and saying "Paul said, 'I die daily"

well.. what does that mean?

Let these verses help to clarify:

"As unknown and yet well known; as dying and yet behold we live; as being disciplined and yet not being put to death;" (2 Cor. 6:9)

"Always bearing about in the body the putting to death of Jesus that the life of Jesus may be manifest in our body" (2 Cor. 4:10)

"As it is written, 'For your sake we are being put to death all day long; we have been accounted as sheep for the slaughter.'" (Rom. 8:36)

"And He said to them all, If anyone wants to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me." (Luke 9:23)

The cross carries with it a killing element because it was upon the cross that Christ bore the sins of the world. To die daily means to apply the killing element of the cross to our sins daily. It also means to be conformed to the death of Christ through the killing of our flesh desires, etc.; to walk according to the Spirit by the power of Christ's cross (Phil. 3:10; Rom. 6:3, 5).

Paul was such a one who, on hand was constantly bearing the death of Chrsit in His mortal body for the testimony of Jesus Christ, and on the other hand was willing to suffer unimaginable humiliation and pain at the hands of those who opposed Christ and rejected the gospel. This was not a false kind of humility, but a genuine bearing of the death of Christ for the sake of the gospel and for the sake of the churches.

It means that daily I surrender my will to the will of my heavenly Father. It means that I confess sin daily and I repent and I let go of my wants and I yield to the wants of my Lord so that eventually his wants become my desires. It means emptying myself of me and letting God fill me with his Holy Spirit daily. The Bible says that if I want to save my life (hold on to it myself) I will lose it, but if I lose my life for Christ, I will save it (find it). It also talks about a kernel of wheat having to go into the ground first and die before it can grow. So many people are trying to hold on to their lives and they are frustrated and unhappy and lack peace and joy because they are trying to control their own lives and their own destiny. But, the way to life and peace and joy is to surrender to the Master. He knows what is best for us!

Dying to self will and crucifying the flesh to yield to a God willed life. A life of walking in the Spirit so we do not fulfil the lusts of the flesh. It takes being totally surrendered to Christ and Spirit led.

Here are some of the evidences of a crucified life.

Daily prayer

Daily reading/studying God's word

Taking Him at His word when He tells us things like obedience

is better than sacrafice.

Willing to say, Here I am Lord, whatever You want of me.

Walking in love, even when we don't feel like turning the other cheek.

Waiting upon the Lord; putting our lives in His hands.

Getting back up if you fall, but having the faith that He is

able to keep us from falling.

Believing His promises are for you and then trusting Him to bring them to pass.

A life that is not self centered, but God centered. He is the one on the throne of our hearts as we kneel at His feet and allow Him to mold us and make us into the image and likeness of His Son, Jesus Christ.

If the old man (our old life of sin) begins to give us trouble, put off that old man and put on the new man, Jesus Christ. Our want too's changed at the cross, transformed...born of the Spirit...a desire to live holy.

Always having this one thing bright in our hearts...WE ARE NOT OUR OWN, WE WERE BOUGHT WITH A PRICE, THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF JESUS, SO THESE LIVES WE NOW LIVE, WE LIVE UNTO THE LORD AND NOT UNTO OURSELVES.

Hi kittylover.. :)

This is my own personal opinion based on my own life experience ..I believe the process is different for everyone..because not everyone has the same life.. :P .. . .. however.. I think if anyone was to disagree and say that dying to self is easy.... they would not be being honest with one self or with any one else..

When you begin your walk with Jesus and concecrate your life to the Lord, the Lord begins to change you and deal with you about certain things you do, or certain attitudes you have, or certain people in your life, places you go ..etc...etc...

it is a life long process in your walk with the Lord .. of putting your old ways behind you and taking on the character of Christ --or

Ephesians 4:22-24

"You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness."

. its a process of putting down your old habits and forming new ones.. pleasing to God.. its obedience to the things of God and a turn from things of the world or things that you used to do before you began your walk with Jesus ... .... Its a process of learning how to treat others, even when they don't treat you very nice.. and a process of learning how to submit to the will of God rather than doing your own will.. and so on and so on ..

HOWEVER.............

:PIT IS NOT EASY.. and Its a very painful process at times .. at least it has been for me...and we dont' always get it the first time, at least for me... that is how it is.. .. but I think if anyone was really honest they would agree its not always easy and it hurts sometimes.. ... It's especially difficult when the Lord shows you things about yourself that you don't want to admit that you are ... It hurts.. dying hurts!! Make no mistake about it .. its not pleasant !

You really can't change without the Lord..You need Jesus to do this.. you need to have a close relationship with Him.. because you really need to lean into Him. especially during those tough times.. When you have to face YOURSELF.. Ugh! But He'll be with you every step of the way..by your side.. ... even if it seems he's left you alone.. he didn't.. he's there.. sometimes He has to stand back a few steps.. I think this is called "tough Love".. But he'll never let you fall... and he's there always when you call Him.. And each time you have victory over something that the Lord shows you to change.. its awesome ! And the more you grow in the Lord.. the more you wont want to go back to your old ways.. and the more closer you get to the Lord the more you want to do for Him and others..and the more you will want to be just like Him..no matter how painful or hard the process is.. you will press into Jesus and go through it !! .. the more you grow and die to your self.. the less you think of yourself.. but the happier you will be!

We war against our flesh daily.. but you can have Victory..

Paul says in Romans :

"I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
