Amen Nite :(

I was skimming through the previous posts on this thread and was thinking the same thing about woman and long hair :) In 1 Cor, it is talking about woman having a covering.. not something on their heads.. i wish i coudl go into more detail about that also.

However, I must add something. A few mentioned about the bible says that a woman is to be silent in church. In 1 Cor, the bible is saying that women are supposed to learn in silence.. that they are not to assurp authority over the man.. It is saying in this passage that women are not supposed to preach. That doesn't mean that they don't say anything at church.. the bible itself says that we are supposed to have Christian fellowship..right?

Someone also asked if men having long hair was a sin... well.. if the bible says that something is shameful.. that it is not right to have it.. does it make it wrong? :(

To respond one more time to the original question of this thread.. Jesus woudlnt' have long hair becuase God said(through Paul) that it was shameful.

I have been talking to other people on this topic and i have had a series of answers. However, there is one that i can't help but wonder about how to answer. A friend of mine asked me how I can say that it is wrong formen to have long hair when men of the bible have long hair. "We are to follow the example of the bible".. he said that Samson had long hair and he went on as to how it was his strength by God...in other words... Why would God tell a man of the bible to have long hair if it is shameful.

Personally...as said before.. i believe it is wrong for a man to have long hair.. but i am just dumbfounded as to the answer of that question.. any ideas?

Samson was under a Nazarite vow. He was under different circumstances. My wife has not cut her hair in about 23 years (she cut a little in the front when she was 4 years old).

If I remember correctly, the part about a woman not speaking in church is because back in the NT times, when the Jews had "church", the men in the group would speak up and ask questions out load. The women where to be silent and ask there husbands at home. If I got that wrong in any way I am sorry, I am going from memory and don't remember where I learned that. :)

I am amazed at the question to begin with. Does the length of Christ's hair have any impact on what He did for us? If not, then the question is irrelavant.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The length of Christ's hair has nothing to do with the gift He gave to us. However, ask yourself why Paul felt a need to include this in his teaching's to the Corinthians?

What do you suppose Paul is trying to get across to us?

It is my belief that there are no empty words or verses in the bible. There's a reason for everything that is written. If there wasn't, it wouldn't be there.

Those are just my belief's.

Anyway, Y'all have a good one.

In His name :)

Amen Nite

Hey Joe, that does sound about right.. i was thinking the same thing but i just couldn't remember the entire thing. All i could remember was "women were supposed to go home and ask their husbands"...

All these "attributes" of Jesus are really imprtant as Owl said. I mean, you think about it. Many argue wether or not Jesus had wine(as in alcoholic wine). I believe that the wine he drank wasn't firmented(alcoholic) because the bible, even in the OT, talks against wine and strong drink. Why would Jesus go against the bible.. ? He wouldn't.

This discussion also matters in another sense becuase we are supposed to follow the Lord's teaching and use him as an example to how we are supposed to act.. right? We "follow the Lord in believer's baptism". Many like to say the "Lord's prayer" all the time and we take of the Last Supper.

These points might be really off the wall, but that is how I feel. As Owl said, There are no empty words or verses in the bible. There's a reason for everything that is written. If there wasn't, it wouldn't be there."

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
