This principle is SO important! People WASTE a few minutes here and a few minutes there, and before they know it, they have waste an hour or two a day! An hour a day adds up to 365 hours a week which is more than 2 WEEKS a year ~ WASTED, with NOTHING to show for it.

If people looked at TIME like they do at MONEY, ("take care of the pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves") they would be much more careful about how they spend their FREE TIME.

We must turn away from a thousand topics that invite attention. There are matters that consume time and arouse inquiry, but end in nothing. The highest interests demand the close attention and energy that are so often given to comparatively insignificant things. MH 456.1

So true Tammy!  I try very hard to utilize my minutes for the Lord.  Of course, I have to work and spend time with our pets and my wife, along with home maintenance projects, BUT, I have found that I can spend an inordinate amount of time following the election news, in all its minute details, and this is really a distraction fomented by the Great Opposer.  My favorite verse is 1 Corinthians 15:58: "...always have plenty to do in the work of the Lord."  Over the years, I have not always followed this advice, but I endeavor to!

That is exactly how I have felt....I was pretty wrapped up in the election, too...I pray I have learned a good lesson that there is no sense spending much time on issues that we can't do anything about and especially because the media is so biased, you hardy know what is true and what is not true!  But when we read the WORD, we have no doubt that it's ALL TRUE and time WELL SPENT!

I agree. As Paul said, we need to redeem the time:

  • Eph 5:15-17 -> "See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.".
  • Col 4:5  -> "Walk in wisdom toward those on the outside, redeeming the time."

@Sower. I got two thumbs up for the same post and they were both from you. It's a miraculous sign.

Be careful what you say...

 Yeah, even the worthy software popped up and had a hissy fit trying to explain what happened.
It said it couldn't complete my request. I decided to leave it alone, a sorta, 'one of a kind'......
Your sense of humor, coop, is a couple of generations beyond my own.
I wish I could be a part, but most times the dialog spikes memories of my 6th grade, when I was always in/causing trouble.
My humor is a little more the dry type, causing pause, reflection. Not criticizing, just explaining.
I appreciate your post here. I enjoy the time the Lord gives me each day, and tell him so each day, every day.
I enjoy 'wasting time' upon myself. Heresy, yeah. I'm still in business, working 6 days/wk, and like an old mule, needs
to take a blow more often. My time is between me and the Lord. This is the day the Lord hath made   rejoice-be glad!!

PS, somebody needs to ban avatars that wiggle, jumps, runs, shakes, moves or
distracts attention.
Or give each member an ability to disable it. What do you think, coop........ default_cool2.gif.cafb0a2ce4064688bb99b12c548af8d9.gif

Thanks for the timely post, brother..

Our soul yearns to be with God (Truth).

Every time we (our thoughts and actions) wonder away from what is true, our soul is confined and yearning.

Every time we are open to the truth, our soul is given space to move with joy; refreshed with Light and Living Water.

In this regard, how much time do we truly spend remaining open-hearted.

@Tammy Roesch

For myself, I find that following Jeremiah 29: 11-14, "for I know the plans I have for you declares the lord, plans for good and not evil, for a future and a hope," works well for me.

God has plans for my life and so I don't have to create ways to serve God and His children.

I have found that God will bring to me people to share the gospel with, and he will bring ministries to me without lifting a finger, or spending my time trying to figure out what to do for God, I just pray, and that's just how it works for me with God, for over 40 years.

Nothing I ever tried to do to serve God ever worked out, but if I was patient and waited on the Lord, God always provided people and ministries.

I have found in my life, that God knows who needs to hear His message, and he knows what ministries will touch peoples lives, and who's lives could be changed.

But again that's just what works between God and I.

For me, there are no rules to follow. Just wait on God, and let the Holy Spirit lead me in the way I should go, living my life from day to day enjoying the life God has given me. "I JUST LOVE IT".

Psalm 27:14
"Wait for the Lord;
Be strong and let your heart take courage;
Yes, wait for the Lord."

Psalm 37:7
"Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him;"

Psalm 130:5
"I wait for the Lord, my soul does wait,
And in His word do I hope."

Obviously the Bible doesn't condone time wasting, idleness, slothfulness, laziness, etc.

Mat 25:21  His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'

Rom 12:11  Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

However, Ellen White and SDA's do espouse some things that are not biblical, in ways that have been described as legalistic, and discussions about this may or may not be a waste of time, but they do take place on this forum.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
