Yes, most words have several meanings, don't they?

Many do, yes.  It's called the "semantic range"; however, to use a word with a meaning that is not its usual meaning, without making that clear from the context, is not a good idea.

It depends on the context. Stubbornly obeying the Lord, in a world that would have you do otherwise, is a good thing.

That depends on whether you are using "stubbornly" with its common, negative meaning, or an uncommon positive meaning.  Most would take it negatively, implying that, although the outward obedience was good, the attitude in which it was done was not.

Why not avoid misunderstandings simply, by saying that you obey the Lord steadfastly, or obey the Lord with perseverance?  These will not be misunderstood.

As we previously discussed, words can have more than one meaning. In some contexts you use meaning #1, in some contexts you use meaning #2, in some contexts you use meaning #3, etc.

Never mind.

Stubborn = bad attitude

Steadfast = good attitude

I never thought of being stubborn as an attitude. I thought it had to do more with resistant to change based on personal belief. Not easily swayed by others so much. But I see your point, steadfast sounds much better.

Quote

Are you stubborn?

Stubborn is a great problem in our society. And, many times, we pray in order to try to convince Jesus of our desires instead of giving in to His good, perfect and delightful will (Rom 12:2).

God considers stubbornness a sin.

The bible makes it plain that stubbornness is sin.

1 Samuel 15:23 (KJV)
23  For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
