Love Hate Relationship

It's a bad marriage. Under EU High Representative Javier Solana's direction, the EU and the US have developed a love hate relationship. In fact, I'm willing to bet my single euro Solana is behind today's meeting between British PM Tony Blair and president George W. Bush. That's because, according to this report, Bush has agreed to let Solana's peacemakers/peacekeepers aid the Palestinians in creating their independent state (Read about it here)>>>> http://washingtontimes.com/upi-breaking/20...70202-1887r.htm

Like I said, it's a love hate relationship. I record when this relationship began at the end of my book. On June 25, 2003, only days after Solana delivered his new security doctrine to the EU heads, Solana and other EU officials went to Washington for their EU/US summit. There a treaty was signed where the EU and the US agreed to work together to fight the war against terror. Some of the details to this day remain secrete. However, the similar actions taken by these two great powers since then in the area of homeland security provide us with the basic idea. It's an agreement to work together creating a new, more secure global order.

We all can see it. Conspiracy theories are flying around like -- well, flies. I don't think I've ever seen a time when so many of us Christian Americans don't trust our own government. And, with the US Patriot Act hanging over our heads, it's not hard to understand why. Friends, this is not a good situation to be in.

The bottom line is, Europe is rising whether we like it or not. As foretold in Bible prophecy, Europe is once again lifting its ugly head and preparing to devour much flesh (Read about it here)>>>> http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...leasworldplayer

The big question is, what can we do about it?

It is my view the conservatives in the White House decided a two-tier strategy. One: America will stand up against the European beast. And two: America will work together with Europe to direct its path on a friendlier course.

Europe, under Solana's leadership, understands these realities. And, Europe still needs America's military might to accomplish its goals. So, Europe has agreed to work with the US for now. However, I believe the day will come when Mr. Europe will no longer need America.

Question: How did Solana convince the Bush administration to go along with his security strategy? I believe he's telling Bush what he told Clinton. He saying the EU's military capabilities he's creating are just for show -- they are to make the anti-American elements in the EU think they have their own independent military. And, like Clinton, Bush is buying it.

It's a love hate relationship.

What to Think?

Evangelical Christians have a lot on their plate to think about. After being credited with returning George W. Bush to the White House, now they have to make sense of the consequences. According to these reports, president Bush will dedicate his last four years to creating a Palestinian state (Read about it here)>>>> http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,3...2531640,00.html

And, for the majority of America's evangelicals who believe God gave the land of Palestine to Israel, if Bush succeeds in his plans it could bring God's judgment on their nation.

There was a day I would have condemned Bush's actions and I not voted for him. In fact, I withheld my vote from Bush Sr. because it is widely believed his administration is responsible for Israel starting down that road of trading land for peace (I give details in my book). As far as Bush W. is concerned, it's not like we didn't know what he was up to in the Middle East. If you recall, one of the first things the new Bush administration did was support a resolution in the UN Security Council calling for a Palestinian state. That being the case, we can't say we didn't see today's news coming.

I must admit, I saw it coming. So, being among those evangelicals who believe God gave all the land of Palestine to Israel, how could I still vote for George Bush? Let me try to explain:

I'm older now and I see things differently then when I was younger. Perhaps one of the biggest changes is I'm not as quick to judge anymore. I recall the time I stormed out of a church to find another. My reason? The pastor had health problems and, in my view, he couldn't fulfill his spiritual service. You know what? The day came when the responsibility of leading a small church suddenly fell to me. The problem was, I was sick. The doctor couldn't find what was wrong with me and I was so weak I had to lean on things to stand. It was in this condition I had to stand and preach. After struggling to get through a long service, I learned someone had become very angry with me. Why? Because, I had forgotten their prayer request. God taught me a lesson that day -- one I would never forget.

Here's my point: Just because we see someone who appears to be fulfilling Bible prophecy -- like Bush is -- that doesn't automatically make that person our enemy. The simple truth is, God is in the future. He knows what's going to happen. Some things happen for bad reasons, some for good reasons. Nevertheless, God sees it all. And, He tells about some of these things in ancient Scripture. Why? To prove to the unbelieving world that He's God, the Bible is His Word, and He's waiting for us in the future.

The way I see it, God has granted us a little more time. From days of old He has revealed to our generation things He wants told. That's our job. That's what prophecy is really about.

That's what I think.

Euro close to record highs as dollar struggles

1 hour, 18 minutes ago Business - AFP

LONDON (AFP) - The euro eased back from close to record highs against the dollar as dealers remained concerned about US economic imbalances, while US Treasury Secretary John Snow said markets should determine the value of the American currency.

The single European currency fell Monday to 1.2962 dollars in early European trading against 1.2973 late on Friday in New York.

The euro rose to as high as 1.2999 dollars at the start of dealing here, approaching a record high of 1.3005 dollars reached last Wednesday.

Against the yen, the dollar dipped to 105.49 from 105.54 on Friday.

"The dollar remains mired close to a record low against the euro and just above the key 105.00 level against the yen with dollar sentiment still very poor," said Derek Halpenny, economist at the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi.

Markets were expected to take direction this week from US capital flow data for September due to be released on Tuesday, and from speeches by European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet and US Federal Reserve (news - web sites) Chairman Alan Greenspan (news - web sites) to a forum in Frankfurt on Friday, he said.

"The foreign exchange market is set to remain focused on dollar-selling factors and a test of the (Japanese) Ministry of Finance's resolve to limit yen appreciation looks likely," Halpenny wrote in a note to clients.

The dollar has fallen heavily in recent weeks amid worries about how the United States will attract the necessary capital inflows to fund the deteriorating trade balance and budget deficit.

The decline has prompted a chorus of concern from eurozone policymakers nervous about the impact on the competitiveness of European exports, and stoked speculation of possible central bank intervention to stem the dollar's slide.

However, US Treasury Secretary John Snow, in Europe on a tour aiming to highlight the need for stronger economic growth in the region, dismissed talk of intervention. He said financial markets should determine the value of the dollar.

"Currency values are best set in open and competitive exchange markets," Snow said, while reaffirming his long-stated backing for a "strong dollar".

"We support a strong dollar. A strong dollar is in America's interest. Markets are driven by fundamentals... Fundamentals are best determined by the operation of open and competitive markets," he said.

Snow declined to comment on recent exchange rates, or on speculation about possible central bank intervention.

HBOS analyst Mark Miller said Snow was doing no more than "paying lip service to the US administrations support for a stronger dollar".

"We doubt that the US is yet prepared to follow these words with action."

The euro was changing hands at 1.2962 dollars from 1.2973 late on Friday in New York, 136.72 yen (136.91), 0.6985 pounds (0.6987) and 1.5231 Swiss francs (1.5205).

The dollar stood at 105.49 yen (105.54) and 1.1751 Swiss francs (1.1718).

While Others Pose

Have you ever seen a poser? When I rode dirt bikes, these were the guys who had the newest bikes, the latest riding gear, and stood beside their bikes all day while the rest of us got all torn up and dirty. And, if someone from the local paper showed up, guess who's picture they would take? You got it -- that smiling poser.

That's how I feel about the recent news reporting. While our major media people are taking picture after picture of the posers, the man actually getting things done in the Middle East is almost completely ignored. In fact, if it wasn't for China View, we probably wouldn't know he was at Arafat's old compound getting the Palestinian elections going (Read about it here)>>>> http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2004-11/...ent_2212680.htm

(And here)>>>> http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2004-11/...ent_2214655.htm

I'll take this thought a little farther. I don't even think British PM Tony Blair really came to Washington to talk president George Bush into pushing forward the Middle East peace process. I suspect Blair came to Washington to give Bush a little cover for his political base. I think the deal may have already been reached. We're simply seeing its implementation.

............

Yes, as far as these pictures are concerned, Bush and Blair are just posers.

Javier Solana is the one getting dirty.

Only the Start

While EU and international leaders breathe a sigh of relief over the last minute deal with Iran, Iranian leaders are playing their next card. They're reminding the EU the suspension of their nuclear activity is only temporary. Now, the EU must fulfill its part of the agreement. What could that be?

In the mean time, the EU's High Representative Javier Solana is telling people the EU's agreement with Iran is "only the start" (Read about it here)>>>> http://www.turkishpress.com/news.asp?ID=33794

Start of what?

This is what I think: We're seeing a strategist calling in his favors. What the press saw in the last few years as a string of unrelated visits and high level meetings, Solana was connecting dots to a big picture -- a picture only he saw. You see, along with all the other world leaders, Solana has been meeting with the Iranian officials for a long time. Now, it's coming together.

Back to the Iranian deal: What could Solana give Iran in return for her nuclear bomb? In my view, the only thing big enough Solana could give is his promise Israel would be giving up her bombs soon too. After all, Israel is the reason Iran wanted the bomb in the first place.

Yes indeed, I think it's only the start.

NATO invites Israel to joint exercises

By Aluf Benn, Haaretz Correspondent

BRUSSELS - The North Atlantic Treaty Organization has suggested that the Israel Defense Forces, for the first time, take part in multinational military exercises and participate in anti-terror activities such as patrols in the eastern Mediterranean Sea.

NATO is also considering sending forces to the Gaza Strip after Israel implements the disengagement plan, if Israel and the Palestinian Authority reach an agreement on the withdrawal and ask for NATO help.

A military summit was to be held in Brussels on Wednesday, with the participation of the chiefs of staff of 26 NATO members and countries that have ties with the organization. For the first time, Israel will send a senior IDF representative to the summit: operations directorate chief Major General Yisrael Ziv, who was sent at the last minute in place of Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Moshe Ya'alon.

NATO plans to upgrade what it calls the "Mediterranean dialogue" it is conducting with Israel and six Muslim nations: Egypt, Jordan, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Mauretania. This means that policy discussions will be conducted by leaders of a higher rank, and that the level of joint military operations will be raised through coordinated military exercises, the war on terrorism and weapons of mass destruction, and joint planning for civilian disaster readiness.

The IDF's first-ever role in NATO military exercises is part of the organization's decision to invite the armies of the "Mediterranean dialogue" countries to take part in the exercises.

Seven exercises were proposed to the IDF, including training that will take place in Ukraine in June. NATO sources said experience has taught that it is worthwhile to start with sending officers from countries new to alliance activities to view multinational operations as a way of learning the methods.

Diplomatic, not just military, dialogue is also on the agenda. Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom was invited to participate with his colleagues from the other "dialogue" nations, in a meeting with the NATO foreign ministers council which will meet in Brussels next month.

In the last few weeks, the suggestion has been made in the United States and other Western nations that NATO should send its forces to the Gaza Strip after Israel pulls out. NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer told the Financial Times, in an interview published Tuesday, that the ambassadors of the member nations would discuss the possibility of operating in Gaza, if Israel and the Palestinians reach an agreement and ask for NATO help.

De Hoop Scheffer wants the organization to play a diplomatic role, especially regarding strengthening the trans-Atlantic understanding that was somewhat disrupted by the war in Iraq. Last week he visited the U.S. and met with President Bush.

NATO, an alliance of 26 countries from North America and Europe, was founded in 1949 during the Cold War to oppose the Soviet Union and its European allies. In the last few years, the organization has been searching for new assignments, and today tries to help fight terror, even though its members don't agree on the definition of terror or on a list of terror groups.

In the last few years, NATO forces have operated in Bosnia, and today are involved in rehabilitating Afghanistan. The organization will also train the new Iraqi army. NATO warships operate in the Mediterranean Sea to intercept ships suspected of smuggling weapons for terrorism and to escort merchant ships. The Israeli navy will be invited to take part in the operation.

The Biggest Overlook?

I've mentioned him before. His name is Jim. And, once in awhile Jim will send me his observations about the EU's High Representative Javier Solana. This last one so intrigued me that I asked if I could quote him. When Jim said I could, I couldn't find a good place to stop the quote. So, here's the whole enchilada.

The Biggest Overlook?

Of all the facts we know about the ever-rising Javier Solana, there may be one glaring fact which we have overlooked. Solana's rise to power differs from that of almost all (if not all) leaders in history. Daniel reveals that the AC will "through peace destroy many." This verse gives us the understanding that the AC will heavily involve himself with making peace treaties and accords. Question: How many world leaders have ever risen through the ranks of power using the ability to make and bring peace? Most of them, if not all, came to rulership through the use of cruel, brute force. Name one world leader in ALL of world history who has risen to Solana's height (not to mention future height, EU FM) through peace. Give up? Me too. Although, Daniel records one man who eventually will. We now see one man who incredibly has. These two figures also share many other traits and there may be a good reason why. After all, Daniel only mentions one figure. And according to Daniel, his "rise" only happens once!

Stay really tuned!

Jim does bring up some very good points. I don't know any other world leader who has risen to power the way Solana has by shuttling around the world making peace.

Does this mean I think Solana is the coming leader foretold in Daniel?

Don't know yet.

As Jim says, stay really tuned!

Tough days ahead

In three exclusive interviews with Solana, Zibari and Asefi, Dina Ezzat finds out that there is much work to be done to achieve a semblance of regional stability

The list of concerns that High Commissioner for European Union Foreign and Security Policies Javier Solana has to attend to merits the length of his title. Not only does his job consist of coordinating the wide variety of European views on foreign and security policies, but also to try and relay a coherent EU policy to the outside world.

Born in Madrid in 1942 Solana is a solid- state physics professor. It might be this particular scientific discipline that grants Solana his ability to closely monitor developing situations, carefully react and coordinate what might appear as unreconcilable stances. When the 25 EU member states ratify their constitution, Solana will become the first European foreign minister, a job that many European and Arab diplomats believe he is destined to have.

As foreign minister, Solana's responsibilities will increase in both weight and number. As things stand, he is widely considered the top European diplomat, and has held several key posts, including foreign minister of Spain and the secretary-general of NATO, and seems ready for his next job: making the European voice heard on key regional and global affairs.

He was in Cairo last week for talks with top Egyptian officials and a number of Middle East foreign ministers, who were in town for a conference of states neighbouring Iraq.

Solana spoke on the Arab-Israeli conflict, Iraq and Sudan. "For us these are issues of direct interest that we have to work on with our friends in the region. We have been working hard and we will continue to do so," he said. According to Solana, the challenges in Iraq are particularly complex and difficult right now. "There is an unmistakable state of instability that has to be addressed in a way that maintains Iraqi sovereignty and territorial unity," he said.

As for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, he believes that at present there is virtually no peace effort worth speaking of, and that the issue is rife with "disturbing" challenges to the peace process in which the "EU has invested much effort", especially within the framework of the Quartet. And in Sudan, Solana believes there is a terrible human tragedy, which the EU "is willing to do all it can to help [solve] politically or logistically".

It seems that as far as Solana is concerned, Iraq and Sudan are both very worrying, but the Arab-Israeli front is the number one concern. The ongoing state of Israeli-Palestinian agitation is the last thing the expanded EU wants to have happening by its new borders.

"We believe the Middle East peace process is crucial," Solana said. Perhaps this is the reason that prompted top European diplomats to stress last week that, whether the Israelis like it or not, the EU will keep pushing for peace. "We know that it is not an easy job and that the tension is very high right now, but we also know that we have the roadmap that was accepted by the Arab states... We also have the Arab peace initiative that was adopted at the Arab summit in Beirut a couple of years ago," he said.

But can Solana cooperate with an Israeli government that seems unwilling to work for peace? After all, the EU and Solana have been shunned more than once by Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's government that has at times accused the EU of exercising a pro- Palestinian bias. Sharon has often made himself unavailable for Solana's requests for meetings or even telephone conversations.

The most recent incident of EU-Israeli confrontation followed the EU vote in favour of a resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 20 June, which called for Israel to knock down the separation wall it has been building on Palestinian occupied territories.

"We are well aware of the Israeli security concerns. We know that they have a reason to worry about their security and we believe that it is their right to maintain their security," Solana said. "But we also happen to believe that the occupied Palestinian territories should not be a construction site for this wall. We have always opposed the construction of this wall on the Palestinian territories and this is what we are trying to explain to our friends in Israel."

The UN General Assembly vote was hailed as a major legal and political victory in Palestine and many Arab capitals. It came in the wake of a ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) that slammed the Israeli government for building the wall on Palestinian territories and for undertaking other hostile measures against the Palestinians. Going to the ICJ was an Arab initiative that was opposed by the EU, a stance that many Arab capitals described as a covert European attempt to appease to Israel.

But Solana categorically disagrees with both Arab and Israeli critics. He believes that both sides fail to see the simple facts. "When the UN General Assembly voted on whether or not it should pursue the legal opinion of the ICJ on the wall, we voted against this move because we did not think the ICJ had the mandate to deal with this issue, but once the ICJ decided it was its mandate to deal with it, we accepted that.

"As for our recent vote in the General Assembly, that concerns our basic stance that while the Israelis have every right to defend themselves, they also a responsibility to incorporate Palestinian needs, including the humanitarian issues that have been negatively affected by the wall," Solana said.

Solana would not say whether or not he believes the Sharon government is capable of making peace with the Palestinians. He refused to go too deeply into the issue, however, and replied: "We are trying to keep a very balanced approach between the two sides and stress to both sides that peace is in everyone's interest."

Another question that Solana was not willing to address was whether the Arab-Israeli peace process would pick up soon. "We will continue to support the roadmap and encourage any possible political dialogue."

"After all, Arabs and Israelis have been meeting under the umbrella of the Barcelona Process during the past few years," he said. "The Euro-Mediterranean forum of the Barcelona Process, that I personally helped launch back in 1995, has offered and will continue to offer a good atmosphere for Arabs and Israelis to meet and talk," he said. European mediators are also present at the meeting.

Solana is willing to acknowledge that despite the progress made in the Barcelona Process, prospects of political, security, economic and cultural cooperation for the states around the Mediterranean have been undermined by the ongoing state of Arab-Israeli tension.

In 2005 the Barcelona Process will celebrate its 10th anniversary. "We are working on a plan to celebrate this anniversary and when I say celebrate, I am not just talking about champagne, but a new push towards deep political dialogue, social cooperation and improved economic relations." While he did not divulge the specifics of the celebration plan, he did say that his celebration would involve a clear message promoting "cooperation".

Solana is confident that the Barcelona Process will not be overshadowed by any of the new "initiatives" that have been proposed by several Western capitals, including the New Neighbourhood Initiative of the European Union -- including for Middle Eastern reform and progress--, because that has its own dynamism and mechanism, and because it has proven to provide "a solid framework for relations around the Mediterranean".

He also does not necessarily see an overlap between the Barcelona Process and any other framework that concerned countries might decide on. After all, the EU has an independent rapport with each Arab state, "because these countries tend to have different economic and social contexts". The soon-to- be-EU foreign minister believes that it is in the interest of Europe to pursue consistent dialogue with the Arab world. "We talk with the Arab League very often on all issues of mutual concern," to explain stances and discuss differences.

Along with the Arab-Israeli conflict, Iraq, and Sudan, the association agreements between the EU and Arab states are the issue Arab and Muslim communities in Europe have recently brought to the attention of Arab-European meetings. Some Arab officials are making no secret of their deep -- and they say legitimate -- concern that Arab and Muslim communities in Europe have often been subject to unfair treatment both from their communities and, at times, the European governments.

Solana accepts that there have been some "sad incidents" where people of Arab and Muslim origin in Europe encountered some unjust treatment. But he promptly adds that there have also been cases where Arabs and Muslims in Europe have got themselves involved in some "sad acts of terror". "But I refuse to generalise in either case... I believe that we do not have a dramatic problem, but we do talk and we truly hope that the concept of co-existence will always prevail," he said.

But why is the issue of anti-Arab and anti- Muslim sentiment not addressed with the same enthusiasm that the European countries show when faced with allegations of growing anti-Semitism? After all it was only a few months ago that the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) held a special conference on anti-Semitism and issued a set of rules and procedures to be followed to combat any signs of showing prejudice against Jews? "It is not a matter of meetings. All issues of concern are discussed at different levels within the European communities," he said. He added: "I believe that the sentiment of co-existence is very strong in Europe and it is not going to be destroyed."

EU PLANS TO DEPLOY FORCE IN GAZA STRIP

LONDON [MENL] -- The European Union has drafted plans to deploy a peace-keeping force in the Gaza Strip.

EU officials said Brussels was discussing a proposal to help organize a force to stabilize the Gaza Strip after an Israeli withdrawal in September 2005. The officials said the EU would send both peace-keepers and trainers to ensure order and bolster Palestinian Authority security forces.

EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana said the EU planned to send trainers in a joint effort with Egypt. Solana said the EU trainers would arrive over the next few months to prepare PA security forces for the Israeli withdrawal.

"Probably together with Egypt, we will send well-prepared people so that the Palestinians can enact a sensible command structure and also have the ability to fulfill their duty," Solana told the German weekly Der Spiegel. "We are ready to contribute and to cooperate with our Palestinian friends on all the elements that they need: security, or administration reform, or whatever is necessary."

Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
