REVIVAL Of The ANCIENT ROMAN EMPIRE

REVIVAL OF THE ANCIENT ROMAN EMPIRE

It appears that Daniel's fourth beast is waking up to a very different and modern world. Many prophecy teachers have been waiting for the revival of Rome, but do they really know what they are looking for? Surely we won't see the ancient Roman Legions re-forming in our day. No, this world has undergone too many changes and men on horseback would be no match for the armies of modern times.

And wasn't Rome known for building roads and shipping lanes at sea for trading? But this too would be out of date. I'm convinced that our prophecy teachers are way off track, mostly because they are tripping over the misconceptions and false assumptions of our time. They are looking for things to happen that never will, meanwhile, the beast is already among us.

Yes, the Roman army had its legions. And yes, Rome built roads and shipping lanes at sea for trade. But we need to wake up to the fact that this is now a very different world.

You see, in our modern times, also known as the last days, we are still building roads and training our armies, but there is a huge difference. Today we are building a different road in a different world set up with free trade zones, where merchandise is shipped by land, sea and air, which is tracked by GPS satelites. The different road we are building today is known as the Information Super Highway, also called the World Wide Web, which will soon usher in the economic mark of the beast. I'm not suggesting that using computers is a bad thing. I'm just pointing out that Satan has it in his evil plans as well, and Jesus commanded us to keep watch.

Oh, I almost forgot. The modern armies, or new Roman legions you can read about for yourself below. And remember, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Maranatha!

The EU's battle groups and armies are not the new Roman Legions, they have the same military standing as the troops all nations send to the UN peace keeping forces and are designed the way they are to show a united and impartial front on international infighting in much the same way that a group of mixed citizens is better and fairer on a jury.

Surely, the tribulation is not something to eagerly try to anticipate or the last days something to look forward to?! I have all of eternity with Jesus. I hope we and those who haven't yet met him have as long as possible on this earth before that.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

There's no need to get all excited. This post wasn't meant to scare anyone, or put down the EU. I posted it solely to show how this world has changed, along with Daniel's 4th beast. It appears that you're a big fan of globalism, and I have no problem with that, but we all don't share your beliefs or your tunnel vision. Believe it or not, some of us have our own opinions.

I realize this may not be your cup of tea, so maybe you should try a cup of coffee or something else instead? No one is cramming anything down your throat here. Whether you or anyone else likes it or not, I'm going to continue to keep watch. Oh yeah, but thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful day. :taped:

:taped: Sure yeah, not meaning to put down your post either- it's a take on Europe I'm hearing all the time here now- and I am very interested in the signs people are seeing. In fact, it's pretty awesome that you can interpret things this way and maybe I'm being naive.

It's just why is everyone convinced that Europe is going to be the new roman empire? The quotes here are just news stories and events that really don't mean much to the people here and I guess must be pretty similar to those found about anywhere. Genuinely, I'm baffled. If Solana is the Antichrist, and that's pretty specific, I just can't see how everyone arrived at it so certainly. After all Europe is among the most peaceful and pro-peace continents in the world.

Actually, I'm not a huge fan of globalism or the EU but I just wouldn't think to look to any one nation for an antichrist rather than any other country in the world say, America or my own. :taped:

Besides, how is it tunnel vision to simply describe the situation in my own continent unbiasedly and call for a bit more open mindedness???

I have opinions too, but I'm not fixed in them and was simply responding to your observations with a fuller picture.

The US has also sent 'battle groups' all over the world, so has the latest Coalition, so have combined terrorist groups. Scripture could mean anyone.

It's nothing against the EU or Europeans. The reason most prophecy teachers are watching the EU is because of the words of God's prophet Daniel, especially chapters 2 & 7. Daniel's 4th beast was the Roman Empire. It's important to remember that this 4th beast is said to be a divided kingdom, which one of these divisions must be a gap of time because this beast is the final one, as Jesus is the stone that will return to smash the feet and the entire image will be shattered.

I never said that Solana is the antichrist. In fact, I believe this is one of the misconceptions that has most scholars confused. I don't believe antichrist is a man as scripture proves otherwise. However, I believe that it is very possible that he could be the little horn, also known as the son of perdition which most people assume is the antichrist. Don't be fooled by all of the talk about peace, for this is exactly how the little horn will rise to power. If you have any more questions, feel free to PM me.

EU's Solana Says He Secretly Met Hamas

Thu Nov 25, 3:50 AM ET World - Reuters

LONDON (Reuters) - EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana had secret talks with the Palestinian militant group Hamas even though it is on the European Union (news - web sites)'s list of banned organizations, he said in an interview broadcast Thursday.

"I have had direct contact with Hamas but not in the last few days," Solana told BBC Radio. "Those meetings were not long. They were just to pass a clear message of where the international community was."

He declined to say who he met or where the meetings took place. Asked how long ago they took place, he said: "months."

British Foreign Minister Jack Straw, talking to the BBC from Jerusalem, declined to comment directly and repeated British policy on Hamas, which is committed to Israel's destruction.

"Our position is very clear. We do not have contact with Hamas," Straw said.

"We do not believe in contacts with Hamas or other proscribed organizations. What these organizations have to do if they want to take part in discussions is to renounce violence."

An Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman condemned Hamas but stopped short of criticizing Solana for meeting its representatives.

"We don't see Hamas as a political partner," the spokesman told BBC Radio's Today program.

"We see them as a deadly terrorist organization responsible for countless suicide bombings in Israeli cities and towns. We think they're part of the problem, not part of the solution."

Hamas has spearheaded many attacks on Israel, including suicide bombings, during a 4-year-old Palestinian uprising. The Israelis have killed several of its leaders.

The EU and the State Department placed Hamas on their lists of banned organizations last year.

Creator of the web turns knight

Sir Tim did not try to make money out of his invention

Tim Berners-Lee, the British inventor of the world wide web, has received his knighthood from the Queen.

The "father of the web", who already has an OBE, went to Buckingham Palace to get his reward for "services to the global development of the internet".

In 1991, the knight of the web came up with a system to organise, link and browse pages on the net.

Famously modest, he said he had just been "in the right place at the right time" and did not want his photo taken.

During the hour-long ceremony held in the Ballroom at the Palace, the Queen knighted Sir Tim using the sword that belonged to her father, King George VI.

Free expression

After the ceremony, he played down his achievements, saying: "I suppose it's amazing when you think how many things people get involved in that don't work. "It's very heartening that this one actually did."

SIR TIM BERNERS-LEE

* Born in London in 1955

* Read physics at Queen's College, Oxford

* Banned from using university PC for hacking

* Built own computer with old TV, a Motorola microprocessor and soldering iron

* Created web in late 1980s and early 1990s at Cern

* Offered it free on the net

* Founded World Wide Web Consortium at MIT in 1994

* Named by Time magazine as one of the top 20 thinkers of the 20th century

* Knighted in 2003

Denying his creation had been anything like a "Eureka moment", he said: "I think when you have a lot of jumbled up ideas they come together slowly over a period of several years."

Sir Tim created his hypertext program while he was at the particle physics institute, Cern, in Geneva.

The code he crafted made it far easier for scientists to share their research and information across a fledgling computer network.

His hypertext program created a system to organise, link and browse net pages.

The scientist did not wish to make money from his invention and so did not go on to privatise the program.

Instead, he wanted it to be used to expand the potential of the web as a channel for free expression and collaboration.

Sir Tim currently heads up the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, where he is now based as an academic.

He is now working on an idea called the "semantic web", which is about giving more meaning to what is on the web so that search results become more "intelligent".

Solana has to retract claim over Hamas

By George Parker in Brussels and Harvey Morris in Ramallah

Published: November 26 2004 02:00 / Last updated: November 26 2004 02:00

Javier Solana, European Union foreign policy chief, was yesterday forced to issue a retraction after saying he had made "direct contact" with Hamas, listed by the EU as a banned terrorist group.

Israel reacted angrily to his initial comments and urged Jack Straw, the British foreign secretary visiting Jerusalem, to rein in the European envoy. Mr Solana, furious at the way his remarks to the BBC were interpreted, said he had not "wished to imply that direct contacts between himself and Hamas had taken place".

The dispute comes at a time when the EU is trying to relaunch the peace process after Yassir Arafat's death.

In his initial interview, Mr Solana appeared to suggest he was prepared to take big political risks by talking directly to Hamas in an attempt to end the bloodshed in the Middle East.

"I have had direct contact with Hamas, but not in the last few days", he told the BBC. "Those meetings were not long. They were just to pass a clear message of where the international community was".

Asked how long ago the meetings took place, he said "months".

However Mr Solana's office quickly issued a "clarification". His spokeswoman said: "Any mention of contacts or meetings with Hamas referred to soundings and impressions conveyed to him but gathered by governments and other parties on the ground.

"At no time did the High Representative or his office hold direct contacts with Hamas or any other organisation appearing on the EU terrorist list". Israel denounced the "inconsistency" between Mr Solana's original remarks and the EU's decision to declare Hamas a terrorist organisation.

Mr Straw, also speaking to the BBC from Jerusalem, said Britain did not talk to Hamas, which is committed to the destruction of Israel.

"Britain will have to inject a dose of realism into the zeal of European special envoy Javier Solana," a senior Israeli government official told Reuters.

In spite of Mr Solana's retraction, some European politicians believe he should be speaking to militant Islamic groups even though they may be on the EU's proscribed list.

Chris Davies, UK Liberal Democrat member of the European parliament, said: "In the search for peace and justice in the Middle East, nothing should be off limits.

"If violence is to be replaced by political dialogue, someone, sometime, has to start talking."

Mr Solana is understood to have kept tabs on Hamas through intermediaries before the EU declared it a banned group. Hamas has been behind many attacks on Israel.

There are many examples of governments talking to terrorist leaders in the search for peace including, in the 1990s, the covert talks between British governments held with the Irish Republican Army.

Mediation efforts to end Ukraine crisis step up as Solana due in Kiev

Thu Nov 25,10:09 PM ET World - AFP

KIEV (AFP) - Attempts to mediate the political crisis in Ukraine are gathering pace with EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana and Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski expected in Kiev.

After Ukraine's supreme court gave the opposition a glimmer of hope Thursday by delaying publication of results of the disputed weekend presidential vote, opposition leaders stepped up pressure by calling their supporters to blockade government buildings.

The court ruled that poll results announced by the central election commission on Wednesday, handing victory to the Kremlin-backed prime minister, could not be published until it reviewed an opposition appeal which alleged widespread vote-rigging.

Official publication would make the outcome final and pave the way for Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich's inauguration as president. The ruling party vented fury at the announcement that opposition leader Viktor Yushchenko's claim will be heard Monday.

"The election took place. The central electoral commission recognized it and issued a final result. No one, even the supreme court, has the right to annul it," argued Yanukovich spokesman Sergei Tigipko.

Nations the world over have slowly begun to split into camps over Sunday's vote. Britain added its voice to Western nations refusing to recognize Yanukovich's win but China joined Russia and authoritarian Belarus in saying that the election was fair.

Attempts to mediate in the crisis began Thursday when Polish Nobel peace prize winner Lech Walesa Walesa made a surprise peace mission.

"It is all going in the right direction," said the former Polish president and Solidarity trade union leader after meeting both self-declared presidents.

It was unclear how much influence Solana and Kwasniewski would have, as Yanukovich lashed out at the West for backing an opposition that was engaged in "anti-democratic and illegal acts," in a reference to the massive street protests that have paralyzed central Kiev since Sunday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin (news - web sites) sent geopolitical tensions soaring Thursday when he accused Europe of fomenting street discontent in Ukraine by tacitly backing the protesters.

At a summit meeting in the Netherlands, Putin firmly told EU leaders "We have no moral right to push a major European country to mass mayhem."

For his part Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende, whose country holds the EU's rotating presidency, told a press conference: "The election did not meet the international standards. Therefore the EU is not able to accept the results."

Meanwhile protests escalated in Ukraine itself on the first official day of civil disobedience.

Orange opposition flags hung out of the central bank building and a deputy economy minister became the first official to resign over the vote that he said was turning his country into a European outcast.

Tens of thousands of orange-clad people answered Thursday's call for the demonstration of people power, taking over the part of the capital that houses the main government buildings.

Ten thousand gathered in front of the government building, chanting "We are many, strong, we will not be beaten!" Hundreds of Yanukovich supporters who had gathered there earlier in the day had left, abandoning their tents.

Other opposition members gathered in front of the parliament and presidential administration.

"We will win! Ukrainians have never been so united," said Vladimir, 23, who has braved the bitter cold winter weather for three days.

"We will stay in Kiev until Yushchenko is president," he said, adding "We will fight only by legal means, we don't want any violence."

Teachers in the western opposition bastion city of Lviv went on strike as thousands of students boycotted classes in hundreds of schools.

Yushchenko's camp also announced plans to block off major roads -- including those bordering Russia and Poland.

Facing a tumultuous start to his term, Yanukovich has said he is ready to enter political dialogue with the opposition but it was unclear how the two sides could resolve their dispute.

The Western-leaning, nationalist opposition is demanding the vote results be annulled in several eastern pro-Russia regions or for a brand new election to be called. Yanukovich has promised only to hear out the opposition's views and take its interests into account during his second term.

The battle for Ukraine has brought back echoes of the Cold War standoff between Moscow and the West, with Russia refusing to see its allies lose power in a country that serves as a buffer between it and an expanding European Union (news - web sites), which Moscow views with growing distrust.

Analysts say the Kremlin further fears that a win by the pro-West opposition in Ukraine could prompt other former Soviet republics to rise against pro-Moscow rule.

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
