Solana Gets His Turkey

..... And, most of the French and German people are against allowing Turkey in. So, what happened to change the mind of these two leaders?

I think the answer is Javier Solana.

could be....

but, keep in mind- at the end of the age, great delusion will be rampant- -

in that even the elect could be deceived.....

isn't Turkey the remnant of the Ottoman Empire?

wasn't Turkey and Nazi Germany in concert in some plots/plans?

Turkey as a 'westernized' Muslim-Islamic State must? be welcomed by EU

(if only as a diplomatic ploy) ASAP 2005?

your posts/information + sources arewelcomed & eagerly received,

thank-you.....s/victoras

Whether the EU is just minipulating Turkey away from the US or not may never be known, but I highly doubt that Turkey will ever become a member of the EU. Although Turkey could possibly bridge the gap between the EU and other muslim nations, my mind keeps a running back to prophecy.

The reason I don't see this merger happening is because of another allignment foretold by the prophet Ezekiel. You see, the way Ezekiel lays it out for us is that Turkey will be going with Russia (Magog) to take a spoil in Israel. Still, it's possible that Turkey could become a member temporarily, but I just can't see that happening. And like Herb said, it will take another couple of years before it becomes a reality.

Russia is becoming more and more desperate, as she is losing more and more territory that the EU is swallowing up, and even more so lately, especially since the Ukraine has eyes for joining the EU as well.

It seems that the EU is leaving Russia no choice but to side with the arab nations, and in the end, Turkey which has a majority of muslims, will be among this Russian allignment.

does Turkey side with EU or the Iran-Persian Caliphate...

my perspective of the geo-political landscape is Turkey opts

for EU inclusion to protect from being 'absorbed' by the caliphate

>>which does not exclude Turkish participation along with the Gog,Magog

forces united against the US-UK-Australian & Israel-(zionist) coalition.

Crimmean?sp? & Sycthian, Moslum-Arabic, peoples & cultural ties will

draw the Turks to renig on the EU treaties they formerly made & engaged.

and like Herb says...[events appear to be speeding up], so the accoustomed

periods of delay/development & transitioning should not be counted on

just a thought...

I will bring peace to Middle East, Bush promises

By Inigo Gilmore in Jerusalem and Alec Russell in Washington

(Filed: 20/12/2004)

President George W Bush yesterday predicted that he would bring peace between Israel and the Palestinians during his second term in office, making a strikingly bold assessment of his foreign-policy goals for the next four years.

"I want you to know that I am going to invest a lot of time and a lot of creative thinking so that there will finally be peace between Israel and the Palestinians," Mr Bush told the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Aharonoth.

Talking peace: President Bush and his wife, Laura, chat with the Rev Dr Leon yesterday

"I am convinced that, during this term, I will manage to bring peace."

Mr Bush entered the White House determined not to follow the path of his predecessor, Bill Clinton, who devoted much of his presidency to an ultimately fruitless search for an end to the conflict.

But as he prepares for the start of his second term next month, Mr Bush sees the elusive quest as a principal ambition of his presidency.

Washington regards the Palestinian elections on Jan 9 as a crucial first step to consolidate the leadership of Mahmoud Abbas, a moderate with whom Washington believes it can work, following the death last month of Yasser Arafat.

At the same time, the Israeli prime minister, Ariel Sharon, is forcing through his plan to withdraw soldiers and settlers from the Gaza Strip next summer.

"Next year is very important, as it will bring peace," said Mr Bush. "Sharon understood this. It is very important that the Palestinians also understand that peace is not something that is arrived at through words, but through deeds."

The White House had previously shunned the Palestinian leadership because it regarded Mr Arafat as a terrorist. But Mr Bush endorsed his successor, saying: "I have a basis for believing the new Palestinian leadership

West welcomes Ukraine poll win, urges unity

Tue Dec 28, 2:32 AM ET Top Stories - AFP

BRUSSELS (AFP) - Europe and the United States welcomed the outcome of Ukrainian presidential elections won by pro-Western Viktor Yushchenko, and urged the former Soviet state's leaders to heal their divisions to end a month-long crisis.

But the calls for unity were clouded as pro-Russia Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich refused to concede defeat after the weekend polls.

The European Union (news - web sites), keen to boost its relations with Ukraine -- which this year became one of its direct neighbours -- called on political leaders on all sides to unite to "consolidate democracy."

"The European Union is looking forward to a new phase in Ukraine's development," said the EU's Dutch presidency, welcoming the positive assessment of election monitors who had branded initial polls last month as unfair.

In Washington US Secretary of State Colin Powell (news - web sites) hailed the "full free and fair" election, while British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw called it "an important step forward for democracy" in the country.

Powell spoke before word came through that Ukraine's pro-Russia Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich planned to petition the country's supreme court to throw out Yushchenko's 52-44 percent win in Sunday's election.

But a senior State Department official, who asked not to be named, said the challenge did not shake the United States' faith in the polls, which international observers said moved the Ukraine "substantially closer" to global democratic election standards.

"We trust that the institutions of the state in Ukraine, the supreme court and the central elections committee, will deal with these challenges in a transparent way consistent with the rule of law," the official said.

Canada on Monday welcomed reports the elections were fair, after sending 500 observers to monitor the re-run poll.

"Canadians are encouraged by the high number of Ukrainians who exercised their democratic rights," said Foreign Minister Pierre Pettigrew in a statement.

"We look forward to the announcement and confirmation of the winner," said Pettigrew.

EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana, who played a key role in mediating an end to the crisis which followed the contested presidential election last month that resulting in the weekend re-run vote, appealed to political leaders in the ex-communist country to come together to unite the country on a path towards democracy.

"I wish to pay tribute to the leaders of Ukraine. They have acted with a high degree of responsibility to set their country firmly in the path of democracy," he said in a statement before Yanukovich said he would contest the result.

"They will have to continue working together for the prosperity of their country in good relations with its neighbours," he added.

The European bloc, which has for years forged closer ties with Kiev despite cool relations with outgoing president Leonid Kuchma, has insisted it is neutral in the election race.

NATO (news - web sites) chief Jaap de Hoop Scheffer also welcomed the results, saying he hopes to boost relations with Ukraine's new leaders.

But even as the calls came from both sides of the Atlantic, Ukraine's outgoing pro-Moscow prime minister vowed to ask the supreme court to throw out the results of the rerun election, which he lost by more than million votes according to near complete results.

"We intend to get the supreme court to review the outcome of the election and to cancel the results," Yanukovich said.

The initial runoff election on November 21 was annulled by Ukraine's supreme court due to widespread vote-rigging, notably in eastern Ukraine where Yanukovich has his power base.

European Commission (news - web sites) head Jose Manuel Barroso said the win was a "good day" for Kiev's ties with the EU.

Barroso noted that a resolution of Ukraine's political standoff should clear the way for implementing an EU action plan of closer economic and other ties between Kiev and the 25-member Union.

Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski, whose country was the biggest of 10 mostly ex-communist states which joined the EU in May, said he was "satisfied to see Ukraine emerge successfully from its political crisis."

Also Monday Ukrainian Transport Minister Heorhiy Kirpa was found dead with a gunshot wound at his country home outside Kiev, his spokesman, Eduard Zanyuk, told AFP.

"I don't know if it was suicide or something else," Zanyuk said.

He said he had noticed "absolutely no change" in Kirpa's recent behavior that could give credence to the theory that he killed himself.

One of Kirpas's deputies, Ivan Saliy, speculated that Kirpa's death was connected to financial difficulties within his ministry, the opposition-run Kanal 5 television network reported.

Kirpa was regarded as one of the most influential figures within the current government.

He had recently been in conflict with Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich, the unsuccessful candidate for the presidential post having reproached Kirpa of letting protesters decorate the facade of his ministry's bank in orange, the opposition's chosen color.

The opposition meanwhile accused Kirpa of trying to impede opposition ralliers by refusing passage to the trains transporting them to rendez-vous points.

Someone Is Saying Something

As long as Likud's Ariel Sharon was Prime Minister, there was no way some European leader could appear and score that seven-year deal with Israel the prophet Daniel spoke about (Daniel 9:27). Well, that's what I thought. And, was I ever wrong.

Sharon inviting Labor's Shimon Peres to share power is most amazing (Read about it here)>>>> http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pag...p=1078027574097

That would be like Republican President George Bush inviting Democratic leader Edward Kennedy to share the White House. Although Sharon and Peres are old friends, their political views are about as far apart as you can get. Sharon is a die-hard right-winger and Peres is a left-wing Socialist.

On top of that, we have the issue of religion. You see, Sharon's Likud party has been the party holding on to the biblical view that the land Israel captured in the Six Day War was God given and should not be traded away. Peres's Labor party, on the other hand, doesn't hold the biblical view and is willing to trade the land for peace. So, what we're seeing may be interpreted as a surrender by the last holdout of Jewish believers.

I strongly suspect the stage may be now set for that seven-year agreement of prophecy. There just happens to be a seven-year covenant with many in the works right now. It's called the European Neighborhood Policy (ENP). In fact, Israel has become the first among 17 nations to sign on the dotted line. And, on January 1, 2007, the ENP will change to comply to the new European Neighborhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI) that has been drawn up by Javier Solana. Like I've been reporting, it's a seven-year funding instrument that will include political goals and monitoring.

And talk about an earthquake. Not only was Sunday's earthquake the largest in 40 years, it's being reported the disaster that followed was the largest in human history. Fears are, by the time this tragedy is all over, over 400,000 lives will have been lost.

Friends, I think someone is saying something.

I'm a little late coming into this conversation. I apologize, I have yet to even begin reading all the post here. But I to have felt something significant was going to happen. Please keep all those who have suffered through this tragedy in our prayers.

UK no vote would raise questions, says Solana

04.01.2005 - 09:06 CET / By Honor Mahony

A rejection of the European Constitution by the UK would result in questions about its relations with other member states, the EU foreign policy chief has said.

"It will open up the question of the relationship with other members of the EU that have voted yes", said Javier Solana on Monday (3 January).

However, Mr Solana told a BBC news programme that a no vote would not exclude the UK from the "European family".

Mr Solana also said that the Constitution is important for making the EU more efficient and that it represented a "fundamental step" in making the EU better able to fulfil its international obligations.

The UK is expected to have a referendum on the Constitution in spring 2006 and is one of the countries most likely to reject the new treaty, which needs all 25 member states to ratify it before it can come into force.

So far, new member states Lithuania and Hungary have ratified the Constitution via their national parliaments.

Luxembourg heads EU stage

03.01.2005 - 08:45 CET | By Honor Mahony EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS

As one of the smallest states in the European Union, Luxembourg will head the 25-nation bloc during the first half of 2005.

Luxembourg's administration built to govern around 460,000 people - where the prime minister Jean-Claude Juncker is also the finance minister - will over the next six months give political direction to an EU of over 450 million people.

Luxembourg has some big tasks ahead of it.

Its turn at the EU's helm is set to be dominated by money matters as it tries to make some headway in the discussion on future funding of the EU between 2007 and 2013.

Money matters

June has been set as a date for political agreement on the budget ceiling but the discussions are set to spill over into the UK Presidency as governments wrangle among one another about how much capitals should be paying into EU coffers.

Mr Juncker will also need all his political skills to try and forge an agreement on reform of the rules governing the euro - the stability pact - which were left in disarray after a disagreement at the end of 2003 pitting the European Commission against Germany and France.

Member states will also re-visit the flagging Lisbon agenda - the EU's aim of turning itself into the most dynamic economy in the world by 2010 - under the Luxembourg presidency.

There will be a 'mid-term review' of this economic goal which has been marred by member states' reluctance both to spend more on research and development as well as implement basic internal market rules.

Bush visit

Another big event for Mr Juncker's government will be smoothing the path to a visit by US President George W. Bush to Brussels in February.

Luxembourg has also inherited the political consequences following the bloc's decision last month to open membership talks in October with Turkey. In addition, it will preside over the opening of talks with Croatia on 17 March and the finalising of membership treaties in April for Bulgaria and Romania.

The other big issue coming up is referenda on the European Constitution with several member states planning to hold polls. Spain is to be the first up on 20 February.

Among the most immediate tasks for Luxembourg, however, will be co-ordinating the EU's relief aid to Tsunami-struck south east Asia.

EU development ministers will meet on 7 January to assess the situation - the European Commission has so far pledged 30 million euro to the devastated regions but has said that much more is available.

Advantage

Luxembourg is starting its terms with the advantage of following a low-key Dutch presidency.

The Hague was hampered during its six month stint by the fact that the EU found itself in a state of flux broken up by the summer recess, the European Parliament slowly getting back on its feet after elections and the high-profile dispute over the new European Commission team - only resolved at the end of November.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
