Darkest Fear

I'm often asked why I don't comment more about our own American government. After all, it isn't just Europe fulfilling end-time prophecy. In fact, if it wasn't for America's support, Europe's independent security identity would have never gotten off the ground.

Take, for example, the infamous Patriot Act. For the first time in history, America's citizens may be subject to the same kinds of surveillance and warrants as would be expected for foreign spies and terrorists. What's going on here? Why is Uncle Sam turning into "big brother?"

For many, the person to blame is Attorney General John Ashcroft. Some even see Ashcroft as an actor in a right-wing conspiracy directed at taking away our freedoms. So, these people want to know why I'm not commenting on these important issues.

I have two reasons. For one thing, I can find no direct connection to America in Bible prophecy like I can to what's going on in Europe. And for another, there is a valid reason for the Patriot Act. In fact, I see what the Bush Administration is doing as a desperate attempt at preserving our freedoms, not taking them away.

I suspect here we find what's really been motivating Ashcroft and the Bush Administration. It's the nuclear threat -- they think it's real. And, it's my opinion, it's only a matter of time until our darkest fear is realized. The question is, what will happen next? What will happen to America and our beloved freedoms then?

I believe it was retired General Tommy Franks who recently said if we experience another major terrorist attack, such as we had on 9/11, our Constitution will go out the window.

And friends, it's only a matter of time.

Seeking Mr. Europe

A new super power has arrived. It's called the European Union. And, it's growing more powerful all the time. Today it's made up of 25 nations. Its goal is to get even bigger. Soon it may become a monster of up to 50 nations.

That's why I find the idea of a nation like Luxembourg holding the EU's presidency amusing. Luxembourg is 51 miles long and 32 miles wide. It has two airports of which only one is paved. And, it's not even a democracy. It's a constitutional monarchy. That means, Luxembourg's head of state is not elected, he or she inherits the Office.

Think about it. Here we have this unelected monarch of a tiny nation not only running the largest economic and political union on earth, this person is running much of the Western world.

Although so small, Luxembourg was a founding member of the EU, is a member of NATO and is one of the 10 full member states of the Western European Union. In other words, Luxembourg's monarch could end up being one of the 10 horns of Bible prophecy.

That's why this visit by Condoleezza Rice to Europe intrigues me. It's said it is a preparatory visit for President Bush who, next month, will be attending the important NATO summit. Rice will be meeting with the holder of the EU's presidency, Luxembourg's head of government Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker, and with the EU's High Representative, Javier Solana.

In July, Britain -- also one of the 10 WEU nations -- will take over the EU presidency. That means, should Rice wish to visit Europe after July, she would meet with British Prime Minister Tony Blair and, of course, with Solana.

In 2006, Finland and Austria will control the EU presidency. Neither of these nations are members of the WEU alliance. That means, whatever agenda Solana and his 10 WEU states may have, they will have this year in which to achieve it.

After that, when in Europe, Rice will have to meet with the Finish EU presidency.

And, of course, with Solana.

Spinning EU Web

EU High Representative Javier Solana not only lands on his feet, he lands running. Only one day has gone by since the unexpectedly good turnout in the Iraqi election, and already Solana is spinning his EU web. How? By having his people assist in training the Iraqi security forces. The report says:

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to live in a city that had a police force trained by Solana's people. If you recall, his EU forces are, as I write, occupying Macedonia and Bosnia/Herzegovina on so-called "police missions." And, when they leave, you can bet your boots the web will have been spun.

By the way, when we consider Solana's new "Human Security Doctrine," it soon may not matter in what city we live. This doctrine doesn't recognize national borders. And, only a few days ago, Solana met with UN officials about forging closer ties with the UN's crime fighting agency. In other words, he's spinning the EU's web there too.

On the Road Again

It appears Israel and the Palestinian Authority may be on the road again. I'm talking about another attempt at the implementation of the so-called "road map" to peace. The plan calls for a Palestinian State by 2005.

According to this report, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will be hosting a summit in Egypt Tuesday where Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas will be attending (Read about it here)>>>> http://www.haaretzdaily.com/hasen/spages/534966.html

That is, of course, if some new act of terrorism doesn't send the summit idea back to the Recycle Bin.

If you recall, this isn't the first summit held at Sharm a-Sheikh. Shortly after the Palestinian up-rising started back in September of 2000, the EU's Javier Solana called for, and attended, a summit at the same Red Sea resort. There it was decided to set up a fact-finding Commission to find the reasons for the violence and a solution to the crises. President Bill Clinton was pleased with the idea and appointed Solana to be a member of the Commission.

That first summit is basically what got Solana and company's foot in the door to the Middle East peace process. Later, Solana also wiggled his way into becoming part of the Quartet.

An interesting side note: Did you know the so-called "road map"to peace plan was an EU idea that President Bush adopted? If I recall, it was suggested by the German Foreign Minister Fischer.

And now, thanks to new Palestinian leadership and Solana's European Neighborhood Policy, there appears to finally be movement again in the Middle East toward peace. And, another summit at Sharm a-Sheikh where I suspect Solana will again be attending.

We're on the road again.

Rice signals tough line on Iran ahead of Europe tour

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has ruled out Washington joining its European counterparts in diplomatic efforts towards Iran.

Speaking before her journey to Europe and the Middle East, Ms Rice said, "it's not the absence of anybody's involvement that is keeping the Iranians from knowing what they need to do", the BBC reported.

The newly appointed US diplomacy chief was referring to activities, coordinated by the UK, France and Germany, to persuade Tehran to drop its nuclear programme which it claims is for peaceful purposes.

More Catching On

When I rode dirt bikes, I loved the hill climbing events. After making it up the nearly vertical hill in one piece, the rider had to get back down. And, sometimes the descent was more enjoyable to watch than the climb. That's because, once committed, there was no turning back.

It's been a long, up hill ride getting this message out. But, now, more and more of God's people are catching on. The unreported news is getting out and there's no stopping it now.

Recently, a reader was nice enough to send me a DVD of Hal Lindsey's January 4, 2005, TV program. As you may know, Lindsey mentioned the 10-nation Western European Union, Javier Solana, and Recommendation 666. Now we find Bill Wilson of Koenig's International News catching on to what's going on in Europe too.

The person who sent me the link to the article from Bridges for Peace asked me if the agreement it reported between Israel and the EU -- the EU's European Neighborhood Policy (ENP) -- could be the confirming of the covenant with many spoken about in Daniel 9:27. In my opinion, it isn't yet. But, I suspect the ENP may become the foretold agreement.

You see, right now the EU's External Relations Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner is administering the ENP. In fact, according to a recent press release at Europa, Benita Ferrero-Waldner will be visiting Israel Monday and Tuesday. And if you recall, this Tuesday there is to be a summit in Egypt where Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon will meet face to face with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas. Friends, it's the ENP that's bringing these two men together. To participate in the ENP, they first have to make peace.

When Solana becomes the EU's new Foreign Minister and a Vice President in the Commission, he will take over administering the ENP. As it is now, Solana is scheduled to take his new positions on January 1, 2007, when the EU's next seven-year budget term begins. That's also when I suspect the confirming of the seven-year covenant with many could happen.

If so, it'll be a wild ride from there.

By the way, has anyone noticed who may be bringing peace to the Middle East?

Call for neutral countries to work together

Ireland has consulted other neutral countries about its concerns over the EU battle groups issue.

Irish foreign minister Dermot Ahern paid a visit on Monday (24 January) to Sweden and Finland to discuss defence issues including how to set up battle groups as a neutral country.

The Irish government admitted recently that it is likely to have problems with the idea as it has committed itself to a triple lock mechanism whereby Irish troops are only deployed in military situations if there is a UN mandate and both the Irish government and the Irish parliament gives the green light.

According to an Irish official, Ireland is the only member state which has said that a UN mandate is a "pre-requisite".

No time to get UN mandate

The battle groups, some of which are to be ready this year, will contain 1,500 soldiers each and are to be mobilised within 10 days to trouble spots around the world.

They will operate within a 6000km radius and will be equipped to stay in an area for up to four months.

The ten-days proviso means it is unlikely that there will be time to get a UN Security Resolution passed.

German to get top EU military job

A German is set to take over the EU's top military job, according to reports in the German media on Monday.

The German army's general inspector, Wolfgang Schneiderhan, is expected to be nominated for the highest military post next year and take over as chair of the EU's military committee in 2007, reports Die Welt.

He would take over from the Italian Rolando Mosca Moschini.

An EU diplomat told Die Welt, "Schneiderhan is currently the only person in Germany who would have the qualities required and the ability for this post".

One of the main tasks of the head of the military committee will be to oversee the building up of the EU's battle groups.

Consisting of teams of 1,500 soldiers, they are to be deployed to the world's hot spots within 15 days.

All That For This

I believe it was just last November BBC reported that the EU's High Representative let it slip that he had been having secret talks with Hamas. The problem BBC had with this revelation was, Hamas was on the European Union's list of terrorist organizations.

When BBC pressed Solana further about this meeting, Solana stated something like, "Everybody who was supposed to know about the meeting was informed."

This picture would not have been possible without some kind of agreement with Hamas. Not only that, the site chosen for this shot was Sharm El-Sheik, a Red Sea resort in Egypt. Let me explain why this is significant.

You see, the Palestinian uprising began in September 2000, just three months after the 10-nation Western European Union adopted its Assembly Recommendation 666. The uprising supposedly started because Ariel Sharon paid a visit to the Temple Mount. But, as I've previously reported, according to Ilka Schroder -- a brave member of the European Parliament -- she believes certain leaders in the EU decided to turn the Israeli/Palestinian dispute into a proxy war to get the US out of the Mediterranean. She didn't go so far as to suggest these EU leaders actually started the uprising. She did, however, believed they decided to use and finance it.

Like I said earlier, the very fact that this picture of Abbas and Sharon shaking hands was taken at Sharm El-Sheik is significant to the Arab leaders. You see, immediately after the uprising broke out, Solana called for and got a summit at the same Egyptian resort to see what could be done to settle the dispute. At the summit, Solana suggested that a fact-finding Commission be set up to find out who was to blame. This idea pleased the Arab leaders, but angered Israel. Israel felt it was obvious the Palestinians were to blame. President Clinton, however, also liked the idea and appointed Solana a seat on the Commission. The findings were later published in the so-called Mitchell Report.

This opened the door to Solana and the EU in the peace process. It wasn't long after Solana suggested the creation of the so-called Quartet. Solana recommended that the US, the EU, the UN and the Russian Federation start working together to make Middle East peace. Once again, Solana got his way.

What am I saying? I'm saying this picture from Sharm El-Sheik sends a message -- without coming right out and saying it -- to the Arab world. The message is, it's going to be Europe, and not America, who will be brokering peace in the Holy Land.

I believe, from the beginning at the Madrid Conference in the early nineties, the true author of this so-called land-for-peace peace process has been the EU's Javier Solana. After Madrid, it was the Solana negotiated Euro-Mediterranean Partnership for Peace Israel signed in 1995. Now, it's Solana's European Neighborhood Policy. As you may know, Israel was the first to sign on.

So, what's going on? I believe this is all part of Solana's foreign policy strategy to be the one who finally restores unity to the nations of Europe and brings peace and security to the neighboring regions. In other words, all that -- the uprising and the on and off peace process -- for this picture from Sharm El-Sheik.

I've included Solana's latest speech below. I think you should read it. He's talking about, under his leadership, the EU, the US and the UN building a global security system.

In fact, it's already well on its way.
