Currently studying Melchizedek who do you think he was?

he had no genealogy, he is both a king and a priest

some think he was just a random guy?‍♂️

some think an angel?

Some think he was Jesus?

Psalms 110 and Hebrews 7 both refer to him as the representative of Christ

Jubilees( if you want to discount this I understand) says it was a priesthood

Thought I would share a couple of short clips I ran across and am interested…Who do you think this mysterious King Priest was?

I’m still on my study, right now I would say it’s not Jesus, but a priesthood still worshiping God

there are a lot of similarities seeing he blessed Abraham and scripture says in

Hebrews 7:7

And without question, the person who has the power to give a blessing is greater than the one who is blessed.
so he was the superior of the Father of nations sense he Blessed Abram

Genesis 14:18

Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine.  He was priest of God Most High, and he blessed Abram, saying

Same as Yeshua at the last supper

But I’m not entirely sold this was Jesus and I wouldn’t want to just throw random things into the mix without doing more research

It’s weird I started researching Genesis for signs of Christ and when I got to Melchizedek My spirit was moved to just focus on this character, I had known the mythos behind this person but never dived deep, he looks very interesting and I hadn’t taken into account that Abraham had given him a tenth of tithing so that opened another wormhole, that he knew the Law despite Judaism teaching the Law didn’t exist before Mt sinai, I knew from Enoch that they knew the law but people don’t put faith in the apocrypha, This here dispels the Judaism belief in the Laws existence.

The Bible continues to open doors ?

My feeling on Melchizedek is he was a real man and a high priest of a Melchizedek priesthood still serving God and teaching the Law of God, but still on the fence if he was a manifestation of Yeshua

But Hebrews 7:17

High priest forever in the order of Melchizedek",

and

Hebrews 7:21

but he became a priest with an oath when God said to him:

“The Lord has sworn
and will not change his mind
    You are a priest forever.

Has me thinking this is a challenging figure in the scriptures for as little as know

We don’t have a birth, we don’t have his death.. he just vanished out of scripture ?

That’s my take

So for everyone who we do not have his birth and his death day, what can we say about them...what?

We do not have the day of birth or death of Jethro's daughter that married Moses. Was she a real person?

That’s a mystery to me brother, but I’m highly excited about further researching the scriptures on this Mysterious figure?

what are your thoughts on Melchizedek so perhaps I might gain some further insight?

Let's look at what we have about Melhisedec before he met Abraham at that day after Abraham returned victorious from his battle.

Would you tell what we know about him.

We have Genesis the original, that what we need.

I can only tell you what is written in Genesis .

And the concept of a Priest of Melhisedec.

Yes he isn’t referenced much at all which is why he is a hot debate unfortunately

A fascinating topic, @MrBear. You are indeed correct that we don't know much about Melchizedek apart from the following:

1. He was the king of Salem (meaning peaceful, complete)
2. He was a priest of God Most High
3. He blessed Abram, who gave him a tenth of everything

Was he therefore the Son of God? I think not, for the following reasons.

When the Son of God spoke to Moses from the burning bush, the Lord said,

Do not come near here; remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” (Exodus 3:5b NASB)

Also, as we read in Joshua 5 when the Son of God appeared to Joshua as the Captain of YHWH's army,

Now it came about when Joshua was by Jericho, he raised his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing opposite him with his sword drawn in his hand, and Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us or for our enemies?” He said, “No; rather I have come now as captain of the army of the LORD.” And Joshua fell on his face to the ground, and bowed down, and said to him, “What has my lord to say to his servant?” And the captain of the LORD’s army said to Joshua, “Remove your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so. (Joshua 5:13-15 NASB)

When men have witnessed the Son of God, they understand they're witnessing the express image of the invisible God, our Father (YHWH) whom no man has seen at any time. Remember Genesis 32 when Jacob (who became Israel) wrestled with the man? What did Jacob declare afterward?

So Jacob named the place Peniel, for he said, “I have seen God face to face, yet my life has been spared.” (Genesis 32:30 NASB)

For these reasons, then, I don't think Melchizedek, king of Salem, was the Son of God. :)
