Is your State Ready for a National Disaster?

FEMA, is more about putting money into some ones bank account during a disaster, then providing physical aide...... funny thing about this problem, is that no one has their checking account info with them, and even if they do, the banks are closed..... so ..... wher is the money going to be deposited?????

again.... the first line of defense is ones self......

we have a tornado shelter....

we have about 6 months worth of food for the family with out having to purchase anything else, may not be great, but we would eat.... non-parishables....

last January, Kansas took some good damage from weather related storms.... people were with out power for several days.... during this time a woman was placed in the hospital for emergency surgury while their house was being watched by neighbors..... they were the last ones to have their electric restored ( well over a week later in freezing weather ).... and when it was restored, the workers installed the wrong transformer, which blew then electricmeter right off the house ( literally ) and in the process smoked the entire electric system of the house...

this family was prepared for things..... they even got a generator, which provided power for the furnace, refriderator, freezer and a few lights..... they did not seek any aide from any organization..... the electric company paid for all the inspections and repairs to damage that was caused by the improper transformer being hooked up..... and replacing the appliances and equipment that was damaged from the massive voltage surge....

maybe they should be like most, and start hootin' and hallerin' for aide, money and discrimination cause they were not the first ones fixed right up..... shouting for lawsuites and trying to get what ever they can.....

them and us live in "tornado alley" we know the risk for living here, we know that we could loose all we have in an instant..... i have seen a storm form with in just minutes.... from a clear, cloudless, sunny afternoon to a dark sky with funnel clouds dropping in just a matter of 15 minutes.... there was no sireens.... no warning......

have friends that lost everything they owned in a matter of about 30 seconds on a sunday evening, just as evening worship service was to begin, Robin, Chelsea, and Caleb were at church, and Robins Husband Chris Dixon was at home getting ready for a business trip. Chris's mother called him on his cell phone, and told Christ to get out of there, that a tornado was heading his way.... Chris looked out the window and yelled that he didnt have time, he dove into a closet, shut the door ( by fold door with no latch ) and started pulling cloths down all around him....

the house was destroyed.... well, most of it anyways.... a house, a stone house built about 100 years ago, with a stone barn beside it.... one of the dogs had been tethered on a chain next to the barn...... the barn was completely destroyed and the long lead the dog was on was burried, all but about 3 foot of it, and the dog was with out a scratch.... farm machinery was twisted and destroyed.... all the vehicles, personal and farm machinery trashed..... everything was completely trashed, that is, except, one single piece of 4' X 8' X 3/8" sheeting and the shingles attached to that piece, and that single piece was above the closet that Chris had dove into.....

The Prayer of Chris, stated that he was not ready to go, but if it was the Lords will, then he (Chris) was ready, no matter what..... Robin and the kids were watching from the church parking lot as the house fell apart.... praying for the hedge of protection for Chris......

during the next year, as they pulled their lives back together, i never seen or heard one discouraging word from any of them, nothing but smiles and joy flowed from them.... no blame was directed anywhere....

one day I asked Robin about her wanting to remodel the old house, and she said yes she did,,,, i said good, now you can remodel til your hearts content.... and she started laughing..... Praise God was all she could say....

the insurance money did not cover half of the house much less the barn and all the rest of the equipment that was lost..... but they pulled out praising God... now they are doing well again, almost 2.5 years ago.....

I see Chris and Robin and the kids several times a week, some times daily, some times they do not see me.... they are not trying to cover nothing..... Robin couldnt cover anyting, she dont know how to cover up....

now....... as I typed away here.... let me rephrase my statement.....

OUR FIRST LINE OF DEFENSE IS GOD !!!!!!!!!!!11
