Have you ever heard of the macho man complex? They can be domineering, have a lot of pride in their manliness, and male virility. They can also be controlling. Know any males like that?

MACHO  MAN ???

EPHESIANS 4:29  let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth ---but that which is good to the use of edifying---that it may minister grace unto the hearers

1 TIMOTHY 4:7  but refuse profane and old wives fables and exercise thyself  --rather unto godliness--

MATTHEW 15:11  not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man ---but that which cometh out of the mouth this defileth the man

Adding to what @steve morrow shared above:

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all people. The Lord is near. (Philippians 4:4-5 NASB)

So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so must you do also. (Colossians 3:12-13 NASB)

Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: sexual immorality, impurity, indecent behavior, idolatry, witchcraft, hostilities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. (Galatians 5:19-23 NASB)

Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. (Matthew 5:5 KJV)

The "macho man" (properly regarded as machismo) does not show forth the meekness, gentleness, and self-control praised by the Lord and His apostles.

Most is shaped by their parents attitude who failed to teach love and sharing.

I believe the scriptures @Marathoner posted are great as directives for us NOT to follow. Any of those things in the flesh are things that we as Christians should be trying to avoid in our lives.

I have met highly stubborn totally inflexible women who never learned what the term 'team' means so I guess it goes both ways here.

If a man is going to do something they have to believe they can do it and this might come off like pride when it's really self confidence. I have also seen driven and gifted women that remind me of some men, although I think men and women mostly approach things from a different mindset.

It has been said that young men do and old men contemplate. I don't ever want to be that second man. I might be slower as I get older but I'll be durned if I'm going to quit unless I have to quit. As men get older I believe we get a better grasp of our limitations. Younger men are still feeling that out and sometimes end up dead or injured in the process..

Control and domination are very real things. I have seen this in both men and women. Most men know they are supposed to lead but they don't know what that looks like and sometimes go about it all wrong. It always helps to have those in your care willing to be led. Husband/wife teams are both leaders with different roles.

My dad was a tough leader. He had been in the military and had a tough father himself. If he came after you it wasn't going to be good. My mother was the negotiator and usually the person who enforced the rules. My father seldom ventured into that area, but if he did you had better hope your wore thick pants that day lol. When he came along negotiations were over.

I tried to carry that into my family. I would allow two or three warnings to clean up your room and give them a day or two to get it done. After that there were going to be repercussions if things had not changed. I was really trying my best to do all of the right things, but in looking back I was more than a little tough. Too much steel and not enough velvet. Part of that was my own upbringing. You can go too far the other way and raise spoiled brats who grow up to be spoiled brat adults ;)

The Lord has a way of dealing with macho man Christians. Pride goes before a fall. That's why I said this:

There are a number of different reasons. A person would need to look back into their history.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
