Grace to you,

Then there is also the juxtaposition in Luke . Where the nets were so full they broke.

In Luke we see Peter questioning the Lord. Thinking that he himself certainly knew better how to fish than this Carpenter from Nazareth. Then finding out that the Lord of the Harvest did indeed know a little about fishing. :P As we begin to see Peter dropping to His kness asking the Lord to leave Him for he was indeed a sinful man. All the while the boats were sinking because of their unbelief. Sinking into the sea.........

Now in John we see them Obediently dropping the nets. To recieve a huge catch. The nets haven't torn and they can actually count the harvest.

c. Why 153 fish?

i. 153 is the sum of numbers 1 to 17. Some (like Augustine) say that it is a number representing the number of commandments (10) added to the sevenfold gifts of the Spirit

ii. 153 is the added numerical value of the Greek words "Peter" and "fish"

iii. Some ancients (such as Jerome) held that there were 153 different types of fish in the world; this represents a "full harvest" of all the world

iv. Some (like Cyril of Alexandria) say that 100 stands for the Gentiles, 50 for Israel and 3 for the Trinity

v. The truth is 153 stands for the number of fish that they caught, and nothing else! Beware of manufacturing "hidden meanings" in the Word of God

Grace to you,

NO NO NO NO....different fishing story.

Only the book of John details Christ's post-resurrection appearance to Peter, John, James, Nathaniel and Thomas on the Sea of Galialee(sp).

Yes, I was aware that this was an entirely different story.:b: However both stories had to do with the disciples relationship to Christ. At the start of His earthly Ministry and at the end. :) The whole story revolves around Jesus Christ. It is in fact centered on Him.

If you look deeply you will also see the Sea and Boats. Men and Fish. As well differing fishing habits as brother Shiloh pointed out. Most of all what you will see is the Lord as the Diamond turns. :noidea: A different look at Him through the eyes of men who deeply Loved Him. A deeper Faith and appreciation for who He indeed is.

Isn't He alltogether Lovely. :) Just look at Him there. :) "Fella's Have you any Food?" Knowing full well that they were way below their calling just like most of us. ;) Wouldn't you put on your coat and dive into the Sea? Man I know I would, I would in a heartbeat. Having breakfast with my King by the seashore. It only takes one word from Jesus to change your whole entire life. ;)

The Lord Bless you brother.

Peace,

Dave

They were fishermen by trade. It would have been unnatural for them, or anyone, to catch a big haul like that and not count them. Can you imagine the big fish tale people might tell if the amount hadn't been recorded?

"Did you guys hear about that big multitude of fish the disciples caught and the nets didn't even break! Why, there must have been five thousand or more in that little ol' net!"

1. The Lord asked them if they had any food. They said no. What was really important was that the Lord not only showed them that He would meet all their needs but even go beyond what they expected.

2. Jesus got the glory. They did not recognize Him until He did for them what they could not do for themselves.

3. The signifigance of the Lord telling them to come and dine is two fold. First, there were some who supposed Him to be a spirit, so He ate with them. The Master even cooked for them after He was risen. He was still teaching us how to treat each other by His example. They had fellowship together right there on the beach that day.

Second, the spiritual signifigance is that the Lord bids us to come. Depend on Him to do what only He can do for us and through us. Remember how He told the disciples earlier that He would make them fishers of men. He would draw people to the nets, but the disciples had to throw in the nets. Without Him we can do nothing.

"Listen diligently to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in abundance. Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you." Isaiah 55:2-3

"Come, all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest."

I would think a Pastor or teacher could find a dozen sermons from this one event.

"Come and dine the Mater calleth, come and dine."

"Follow Me." John 21:19

You done got the ol cryptographer in me all worked up now...

153......

1+5+3=9

The alphanumeric value (in English) of "Nine is the key" is 144.....

"The God of Israel" "Jesus is Nine" "Lucifer is Nine" "One two six" all 144

1+2+6=9

something else I noticed.....ANV of "one" = 34 = 7 (reduced)

Numbers and language....strange things, did we invent them or discover them?

mmmm I'm probably way off track here, but I do gotta wonder just how deep the proverbial rabbit hole goes, eh?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

M4, can you help out with this?

I do have an idea, do we have anyone here proficient in Greek? I know Hebrew letters also represent numbers, and the same in Greek too.

In English word games you could be asked , how many words can you make using these letters?

REAT

Rate

Tare

Tear

Arte

ETC, you get the idea

And see what you come up with. Same in Hebrew or Greek, but the added bonus is that you will also have a number, no matter what the word you come up with the letters it will equal the number. So I am wondering what other words can you get from those letters.

But much to my shock when I looked up the transliterated words for one hundred fifty and three, there were not Greek letters, but words, so Greek has words AND letters for numbers????

I didn't know that english used numbers for letters, I thought this was only for Hebrew and English?

I did some studying on this last night.

John2:11

This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

Joh 2:18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?

Joh 2:23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.

Joh 3:2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

Joh 4:48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see sign s and wonder s, ye will not believe.

Joh 4:54 This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.

Joh 6:2 And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracle s which he did on them that were diseased.

Joh 6:14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.

Joh 6:26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracle s, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.

Joh 6:30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

Joh 7:31 And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done?

Joh 9:16 Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.

Joh 10:41 And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true.

Joh 11:47 Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.

Joh 12:18 For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.

Joh 12:37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

Joh 20:30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:

All those words highlighted above are different translations of the same Greek word which means, Sign, Mark or Token. this word in the Gospel of John can be found 17 times. It is the only book in the whole NT that uses this word this many times, and it is the most times used in a book ( the total usage in the NT is 69, 1 shy of 70).

In amongst this book we find these miracles, or SIGNS

1. Turning Water into Wine ~ In Cana

2. Healing the Officers servent - Again from Cana

3. Healing of the blind, lame and crippled man besides the pool at Beit Zata, in Jerusalem.

4. Five loaves and two fishes - Lake Tiberias feeding of 5 thousand - 12 baskets of bread left over

5. Walking on the water, the boat immediately reaching shore from 3-4 miles out.

6. Gives the Blind man in Jerusalem eyes.

7. Raised Lazerus from the dead

Seven of them, seven signs that are spelled out in the Gospel if John. After the resurection John writes this:

20:30

And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:

20:31

But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

Only seven are recorded, before his death. I find it interesting that John choose only seven.

Seven is the number of completness, of perfection, many example in the bible from Genesis to Revelation.

But wait there's one more, after the resurection, The appearance on the shore of Lake Tiberias.

John tells us that: This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead. 21:14

Also of note not all the disciples were there, only:

1. Simon Peter

2. Thomas called Didymus

3. Nathanael of Cana in Galilee

4 the sons of Zebedee, ( James)

5 the sons of Zebedee, ( John)

6. and two other of his disciples

7. and two other of his disciples

This last sign I believe is signifigant in using the numbers it does. I will do some furthur research into the number 17 and post what I find.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
