Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine liquidated 250 servicemen of the occupation forces over the past day. And since the beginning of the full-scale aggression in Ukraine, 41,900 Russian soldiers have already been killed. An employee of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant was injured as a result of yesterday's missile attack by the Russian army. The spent nuclear fuel storage was also damaged.

The press service of the company said that the strike by the Russian troops fell on the station's dry spent nuclear fuel storage facility (SDSNFF), where 174 containers are stored, each of which contains 24 assemblies of spent fuel.

As a result of the shelling, three radiation control sensors around the SDSNFF site were damaged.

Energoatom notes that now timely detection and response in the event of deterioration of the radiation situation or radiation leakage is impossible.

In addition, an employee of the nuclear plant was injured due to Russian shelling. He was hospitalized in Enerhodar hospital.

Sweden will send more than 100 of its instructors to the UK, where they will join their British and Canadian counterparts to train members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This is stated on the official website of the Swedish government.

"The government has decided that the Armed Forces of Sweden will send instructors to the UK to train Ukrainian citizens in basic military training so that they can serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the statement reads.

Sweden will send up to 120 instructors to the UK, who will carry out military training of Ukrainians in the period from August 12 to December 31.

The authority noted that no more than 60 instructors will be in the UK at the same time, which will not affect the activities of the Swedish Armed Forces.

It will be recalled that on June 17, during a visit to Kyiv, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom offered Ukraine assistance in the training of about 10,000 military personnel.

Later, the UK invited other partner countries to contribute to the training of the Ukrainian military.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Kingdom, Vadym Prystaiko, announced that the United Kingdom will transfer 2 anti-mine ships to Ukraine. He said this in an interview with Suspilne.

"United Kingdom continues to support Ukraine in the confrontation with the Russian invaders, in particular, it is preparing to transfer several warships to our country. I recently visited one of them," Prystaiko said.

According to him, it is about two anti-mine ships, which are needed to the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for demining.

Now in the UK, a group of Ukrainian military personnel is undergoing training to operate these ships.

The Ambassador added that these ships are only the beginning and the United Kingdom can transfer more warships to Ukraine.

The program will make it possible to train about 10,000 Ukrainian servicemen in the handling of weapons and military equipment, tactical medicine, field skills and patrol tactics by the beginning of autumn.

On August 7, losses of personnel of the Russian troops increased by 140 to 42,340 killed, and the Ukrainian military also destroyed 1 helicopter and 6 tanks over the past day.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have received a batch of Turkish BMC Kirpi armored personnel carriers.

Its armored hull protects against the wreckage of artillery and armor-piercing shells.

The Kirpi has five small arms embrasures and four bulletproof windows on each side of the bay.

It is designed for 12 fighters and 2 crew members.

On its roof there is room for a machine gun.

The Institute of Problems of Mathematical Machines and Systems (IPMMS) of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Ukraine has simulated the consequences of the accident at the Zaporizhzhia NPP and the subsequent spread of radiation.

Ivan Kovalets, head of the department of mathematical modeling of the environment, wrote about this on Facebook.

The scenario modeled by scientists involves competent actions of the Zaporizhzhia NPP personnel in the event of an accident.

It is not "apocalyptic," but suggests that the station experienced a Category 7 maximum accident on the INES (International Nuclear Events Scale) scale.

In addition, a meteorological situation was taken for modeling, which was observed on June 27 this year, when a cyclone was passing over the Black Sea.

Modeling showed that not only the south of Ukraine, but also Turkiye, Romania and Bulgaria can suffer as a result of the accident at the Zaporizhzhia NPP.

Also, the Black Sea will be subjected to radiation pollution.

"Of course, under other meteorological conditions, other territories will suffer... At a distance of 350 km from the ejection point, the level of cesium-137 drops can reach 100 kBq/m2, that is, as on the outskirts of the Chornobyl exclusion zone," Kovalets wrote.

Recall that earlier today the Energoatom National Nuclear Power Generating Company warned that the consequences of a possible accident at the Zaporizhzhia NPP could be ten times more powerful than in 1986 at the Chornobyl NPP.

"The Black Sea region cannot be safe while Crimea is occupied. There will be no stable and lasting peace in many countries on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea as long as Russia is able to use our peninsula as its military base. This Russian war against Ukraine and against all of free Europe has begun from Crimea and must end with Crimea, in particular, its liberation. Today, it is impossible to say when this will happen, but we are constantly adding the necessary components to the formula for the liberation of Crimea," he said.

Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine has launched the Crimean Platform, a key diplomatic platform for work on the liberation of the peninsula. The Crimean Platform will work this year as well, preparations for the summit are already underway.

The President added that this year, the work of the Crimean Platform will be no less weighty and representative than it was last year, when its first summit was held in Kyiv.

"When we work for the liberation of the peninsula, we fight for the restoration of the territorial integrity of our state and for the return of home to the indigenous peoples of Ukraine. I believe that it will be so. I know that we will return to Ukrainian Crimea," Zelenskyy said.

Russia has created a new formation of ground forces to support the war on the territory of Ukraine. The Russian command faces competing priorities - strengthening the offensive in the Donbas and strengthening the defense against the expected counterattacks of the Armed Forces in the south. “To support the Ukraine operation, Russia has almost certainly established a major new ground forces formation, 3rd Army Corps (3 AC), based out of Mulino, in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast east of Moscow,” the update says.

British intelligence said that the effect of 3 AC is unlikely to be decisive for the war in Ukraine.
