I think when they say respect it's more of a be loving when you talk to them understand that they truly do believe what they do. They truly believe that their God is real. It's important to tell the the truth and everything but be "respectful" of it. In other words, speak carefully and lovingly but speak truth none the less.

Just to add the appropriate scripture for this:

1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

Blessings,

TrustandObey.. thankyou so much for the idea.. however, there is something about this class that you don't know... this class doens't do debates or discussions.. I am stuck with lectures.. and random comments from people.. you don't actually get to state what you believe.. the purpose of the course is to prove that no religion is more valid than another.. and that he need to respect all religions..

To share what I blieve in class .. the opportunity never arises.. and this class is all "facts" basically.. "the Muslim religion teaches..." and "the Buddist religion teachers ..."    ... just like that..

"The Mormons are a Christian sect and they believe in Pro-life".. the most one can say in that point is "I thought Mormons weren't Christian" ... teacher's response "Well, the question Crystal asked is wether or not Mormon's are Christians.  There are many who believe they are and if you ask a Mormon, they will strongly say taht they are Christian.  And their title "Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints" is also very powerful.  On the other hand, there are people who do not believe that Mormons are Christians."... those are the types of questions asked.. and the type of answers given.. in the class... we are not supposed to say that one thing is right.. but be open about everything.. although.. this is not a course where we "find religion.  It is a course where we learn *about* religion"...

Hence.. respect all religions comes into play one again...

I love the idea and if the opportunity comes up great.  By the way, wonderful website.  Thankyou...

You still may get a chance to stand in front of class and talk... a lot of times this is a task everyone has to do.

At the least, you can let your fellow students know why the information being given is incorrect as long as you do it before and after class.

May I ASK why you would spend money to have someone teach you that " the purpose of the course is to prove that no religion is more valid than another.. " ??? :)

Simply peruse the life of polygamist Muhammad of Yathrib or that of ultra-polygamist Joseph Smith Jr. of Sharon, Vermont & Palmyra, New York....then check their weird philosophies - Muhammad & the Moon god (Allah) of the Arabian Peninsula long before Muhammad ever came on the scene OR Joseph Smith, Jr. and his peepstones caper, discrimination against African-Americans, "celestial marriage," on into the night - and you'll be well on your way to clearest understanding re the whims & nostrums of both.

In a way, other religions are interesting to me. Not that I would want to believe what they believe, but they all (most?) have similar traits. Most religions have some sort of law such as the ten commandments. In other words, they have requirements. The question then can be, do they keep their ten commandments or whatever they have? Many also have something similar to the golden rule. Do they live that? If they do these things then there can be some common ground. In other words, we have something to talk about as far as living what you believe and then possibly it can lead on from there.

I don't find that it's helpful to simply smash someone else's religion because for most people it's something very personal. If we Christians are living the life that Jesus gave us as an example, then people will want to find out what it is that makes us different. But if our faith is small and our light dim, then why would they even want to leave what they have? The goal of the Christians was supposed to have been to provoke the Jews to jealousy (Ro 11:11) but when you look at many of today's Christians you wonder what there is to be jealous about. We need to get back to living the way Jesus called us to. In order to do that, we really have to know His life and what He asked of His disciples.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
