Can a believer get involved with politics?

Many believers think so (whether being candidate or supporting one). They stick up for the idea that, the more believers are involved in politics, the greater of the probability of changing the world for better.

Unfortunately, the world can’t be fixed. At first place, we can see in the Holy Scripture that the world shall wax worse and worse (2Tim 3:13) because almost all people will lose their love (Mat 24:12), the ministry of iniquity is working (2Thess 2:3) and is about to reach its apex with the antichrist and his New World Order. Whether we like or not, the world will get old (Isaiah 51:6) and its transgression will increase (Isa 24:20).

I know that many believers are will intentioned, longing for transforming this world by the power of Jesus Christ, for His glory. Nonetheless, this feat already was tried:

•    Jer 51:9 -> “We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment reacheth unto heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies.”.

If the system that rules this world (which is a Great Babylon) could be changed for better, there wouldn’t be the following advice:

•    Rev 18:4 -> “And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.”.

And it is no wonder. After all, the prince of this world is Ha-Satan:

•    Joh 12:31 -> “Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.”.
•    Joh 14:30 -> “Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.”.
•    Joh 16:11 -> “Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.”.

And the world lies on him:

•    1Jn 5:19 -> “We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.”.

Hence Jesus said:

•    Luk 5:10 -> “And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.”.

See that Jesus told the disciples to take the good fishes (Mt 13:47-78) from the sea of this world; and not to remain in the sea trying to convince the herd fish that they can serve Jesus without having to leave the sea, as long as they strive to live in goodness, trying to convert other fish to Jesus (without seeking any change of nature so that they can survive outside the sea fishing other fishes).
So, what the believer ought to do in terms of politics is to preach the gospel to the politicians after praying for them:

•    1Ti 2:1-3  -> “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;”

In the end, have a good day fighting against the corruption of this world, but not with physical weapons, but spiritual ones (Eph 6:10-18):

•    2Co 10:3-5 -> “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”.

William Wilberforce, a faithful Believer, was a British politician, and had quite an impact, for good, whilst serving in this position.

The Earl of Salisbury, William Booth, Elizabeth Fry, Many of the Quaker families in buisness showed by how they provided for their employees Christian examples of love and care.

But it goes back into the 1st centuary, when Christians used to collect and raise abandoned babies left out to die, or when durring a plauge they cared for the dying.

The problem of saying Christians don't do politics is it means Christians don't seek to meet the needs of others.

As James says you have faith, show it to me. I by my works show you my faith.

If you don'y love, you don't act.

Good post.  I see where you are coming from, and involvement in politics as a hope for an ultimate solution, no.  But to become a light to the world, yes.  God's people both past and present were and are here to be a light to this fallen world, ultimately to usher in the Kingdom of God by the Lord's Return. But this participation of course is just a journey to get there to prepare people so they know what to expect and what righteousness is.  Thus, a Christian's participation is not prohibited, but should not be the sole thing, either.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
