Sheehan Arrested During Anti-War Protest

I realize that many embrace these new measures and even approve them. No offense intended to anyone, but anyone who approves of giving up freedoms are living in slavery already.

Her freedoms were not jeapordized. That is pure nonsense. No one is stopping her from protesting from getting on TV and milking the propaganda machine. She will probably get a book deal and be better off then most of us as a result. She is free to protest to her heart's desire, but there is a responsible and irresponsible way to do it. She was not arrested for protesting but for her stubborn refusal to obey the the law.

Knowing she was arrested gave me something to smile about today.

Too bad she can't be arrested for endangering the lives of our soldiers overseas.

Too bad she can't be arrested for endangering all of our lives by sympathizing with terrorists.

Too bad she can't be arrested for her anti-semitism.

Or just for plain stupidity and making a fool of herself with the embarrassing things that have been coming from her mouth.

lol..yeah, too bad there's no law against stupidity. She would've been behind bars alot sooner. This woman has been giving a piece of her mind for far too long, and she didn't seem to have enough to spare

Your right Constant. This is no longer about her son. This is about her, and knowing soldiers like I do I can tell you her son would not agree with what she is is doing.

What gets to me is I hear alot, and I mean alot of complaining about our rights being stomped on...having to wait to be searched in airports the checkpoints that were set up, the new security messures and so forth...we are having our freedoms infringed upon...but....yep...but...if there was another plane hi-jacked and flown into a building or if a bomb got through to the White House while a civilian tour was taking place...we would have to listen to these same people scream and stomp saying not enough was done to prevent it.

Do I agree with every purposed meassure the government wants to take for what they call security sake, nope, not by a longshot. But the commen sense ones I can live with.

I believe I have made my views clear and as I have no desire to become entangled in a heated dispute with anyone I will leave this thread for the time being. I've said pretty much all I have to say and everyone else is free to form their own opinions.

Katy - with all due respect, it seems like the only one becoming "heated" is you. The fact that you had to "leave" tells me this.

Paul tells us in Romans 13, verse 1 "Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God." By this I am trying to show that God is in control of all things. It doesn't matter who is in power. It doesn't matter what our laws are. We, as Christians, need to be confident that no matter what goes on in the world, it is all going according to His plan. NO ONE and NOTHING can interfere with it. Any freedoms we have in this world are from Him and by Him. True freedom comes ONLY from Christ because of His sacrifice, not from man made laws.

Jesus himself told us in John 15, v19 ".... As it is, you do not belong to the world."

This world is NOT our home! We need to be concerned with the spiritual things of God and His Kingdom.

The point I am trying to make is this. There is nothing wrong with discussing politics and current events. But to become upset and angry or even a little peeved because someone does not agree with you does not do anything but alienate others. I am not singling you out. I have seen a lot of "heated discussion" on this board as well as many others and I would say the same thing to them.

Beware of getting to "into" politics. Take it from someone who has been at both ends of the politcal spectrum, there is no one "party" or group of people who are innocent in this game. It is best to concentrate on our wonderful Lord and His Word. Such fervor for politics, or anything for that matter, takes away from Him.

I am seriously starting to hate praying for people I don't like but, I do. My husband says that I have a big heart when he hears me pray for the "bad" people. I don't like this woman for a few reasons but, I do pray for her. Not too often but, I do.

White House or not, loitering is not permissable on public sidewalks, that includes those in front of your house. What would you do KatyAnn if someone stood in front of your house for an hour or more? Legally they are on public property but your saying if they get tired they can bring a lawn chair and observe all the comings and goings they wish to. The same laws that make it illegal to "stand around" on the sidewalk in front of a persons house are the same ones that make it illegal to "loiter" on the sidewalks encircling the White House. Are you saying its a civil liberty to be able to "case" the white house for security weaknesses? Cindy Shehan is not an advocate for civil liberties but a mascot for disgruntled libertarians. I can understand to some degree why they want us out of Iraq but they are not being realistic AT ALL. A complete pull-out is simply foolishness considering the condition Iraq is in.

Cindy Shehan and those like her are of the idea that the loudest person in an argument is right and therefore will win said argument. Her behavior is nothing more than the temper-tantrum of spoiled child.
