Colossians 2:14 (NASB20)
having canceled the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This certificate of debt, what was it, and to whom or what was it owed..?
Was it to God or something else…?
It was a debt owed to the law, God in His infinite love set about moving all of Heaven and earth to make a way for this debt that man acquired by the breaking of the law to be satisfied… He did this by sending His beloved Son to take all of the law’s righteous judgement upon Himself.. For after the fall God’s heart toward man was just love, just looking and waiting for the time when fellowship with His image and likeness would be restored…. This fall of man created something that God’s heart could not tolerate, that being, separated from His image…
So He set His heart on paying the debt that man owed, the receiver of that payment was the righteous requirements of the law…. So the very second that debt was payed the vail in the temple was torn restoring God to His image….
For God has no anger towards man because he fell, His heart is always love, for that is what He is, infinite love always, to all creatures to all eternity… Even to the fallen angels He is love, but they can only experience His love as their highest contrary, so they can only experience His love as a flame of fire, fire being the ultimate expression of contrary…
The debt that man owed he owed to the law, as do the fallen angels, but the fallen angels can not die so they can never fulfill the debt they owe…. Man could die, this is why in Genesis God put a cherub in front of the tree of life so man could not partake and be in the same situation the fallen angels are in, that being, never able to die to fulfill their debt to the law…
This is God’s great salvation to mankind, the fulfillment of the law concerning man…  This is why reckoning oneself dead to sin and alive to God by faith, is the one and only way to come out from under one’s fallen nature….. For Christ did pay our debt by taking the believer to death with Him, so any that would be willing could die with His death and be raised to a new life as He was raised to a new life…. Raised again to a new life so that one could be restored to fellowship with Perfect Love itself...
This is how God paid our debt to the law, that being the glory of the great salvation, that is, being joined with Christ in both His death and His resurrection….
I wouldn’t trust the NASB at all (use to have one in the 70’s) let alone NASB20 version
Reason being the Easy- to- Read Version or ERV (which in theory is a paraphrase) says the same as the NASB20 which is supposed to be based on ASV. See the following:
ERV 14  by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross
Where as the KJV and the rest say:
KJV 14  Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
ASV 14  having blotted out the bond written in ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us: and he hath taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross;
RV 14  having blotted out the bond written in ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us: and he hath taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross;
That said, an ordinance and a debit are not the same concepts. IOU, and don’t do that or you must do that, are not the same.
Though its true that the born again have been bought, that doesn’t mean there is debit involved in the text you’ve quoted.
it is the Lord God Himself that is owed, not the law, and He sent His Word into the world as the Son of Man (Jesus Christ) and made it good on our side of the covenant for our sakes, and His own reasons also.
But in the case of Paul speaking of debit here, is very questionable.
Hi, and thank you for your thoughts…
As Christ reveals by experience the truths described in scripture, do we know those truths by substance….
Be blessed in that substance, Not me
No
absolutely not.
you know those truths by the revelation of the Word of God that is the Truth.
and your substance is not a blessing if its not the Word of God.
    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.
      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.
      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.
      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.
      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”
    • Understanding the Enemy!
      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!
      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.
      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,
      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.
      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!
      Shalom everyone,
    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,
      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.
      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."
      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
