There are some issues in my State with teachers striking. Do you think teachers should strike? Leave the classrooms and the students? Is it self centered?

If they have the right to strike, then I guess they have that right. Morally, it would depend on the issues - I assume it would be pay and working conditions, as typical. Government can always legislate them back to work if they so desire.

I dont care for the things students are being taught these days so I dont much care if teachers strike or not. It is their legal right to do so.

What gets distributed on culture war websites/Facebook pages and what goes on in the typical classroom are far removed. A vast majority of teachers are in the profession because they care deeply about their students and are doing their best to serve them. There are many places around the nation where teachers are greatly overworked and greatly underpaid.

It is no more self-centered than anyone else striking.

Do you think a Christian teacher should strike vs a teacher who is an unbeliever?

Ego, pride and greed can come into the decision to strike. Who is more important? The teacher or the student?

If they feel there is a legit reason....yes. and honestly every teacher in the country should strike for any of a thousand good reasons, ranging from the indoctrination of students, to inability to properly teach due to high teacher to student ratios. Our public school system is broke nation wide, kids legit would be far better off outside of school then in it.

And that's actually not a bash on teachers...I know a great many teachers who are absolutely fantastic...but the system they're forced to teach in ties their hands.

I cannot thank you enough for saying this.

The things I see being said about ALL public schools and what I see actually happening in them are not the same.  Yes, there are some probems.  There are problems with Christian schools as well.  I would know.  I taught in two of them.

I would not strike as in leaving the premises.  It has nothing to do with me being a Christian vs. not being one. It has to do with legalities.

You all have no idea how hard it is to be a teacher and how hard it has been for decades.  This isn't new.  I did it for 32 years and loved it.  Problems or not.  You have to work through them.

You are very welcome, but I have the advantage of seeing some amazing teachers up close. My wife is a teacher for preschool children with disabilities, my oldest daughter is a high school history teacher, and my youngest daughter is an elementary education major that is paying for most of her education by working as a substitute teacher.

My comments are based on what is in the local news not social media. There have been some terrible things taught.

Ask instead: should public employees strike, including public school teachers?
