So when we say were are saved...we ARE bragging....on God

It could be inferred by others as being "special" and part of a "special" club, which would come off as arrogant and be a turnoff to seculars.  I don't believe it's effective at bringing others to Jesus.

As you have said, we can misunderstand each other and I don't want to do that.

I don't understand how we are supposed to bring others to understand about Christ if we don't tell them that we are saved and what it means to us.

What I'm trying to say is that I've never seen anyone "brag" about their salvation in a haughty manner.  Perhaps you have, I don't know.

And do this knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken out of sleep; for our salvation is nearer now than when first we believed. (Romans 13:11)

What is he talking about? Salvation is nearer?

Isn't the believer all nice and saved?

"Isn't the believer all nice and saved?"

Well, as a matter of Biblical fact - yes,  we are.  A person is either believer, saved by God through Christ, or they are not.  Jesus Christ said that for those whom the Father gave him - NONE can be plucked from his hand.  At salvation, the Bible says we are sealed with the Holy Spirit and that the Holy Spirit will continue to teach us, convict us, and guide us.

Jesus also said that he would draw ALL men to himself - and the Bible teaches that not all humans will submit to Christ.

What is Paul talking about in Romans 13 about salvation being "nearer"?

I'll just use myself for example:

[1] I was saved decades ago.  That was God saving me or using the fancy term, justifying me.

[2] I am still growing in Christ.  God sanctifies me.

[3] One day, I will go to be with the Lord.  God will glorify me.  And with each minute and hour that passes, that day grows nearer.

God does it all - not me.

Salvation - being justified, sanctified, and one day, glorified.

There are about a dozen people on this board that I have a hard time understanding exactly what they believe and sometimes what they are even talking about.  That pains me.

And the reason you are going to die? Or do you deny that you are mortal?

To me it sounds like they knew that they were not yet saved but were going to be saved.  I think one is "saved" after their Earthly death.

The Bible says the reason that I am going to die is that I was born a sinner.

But God saved me by grace.  I'm  still going to die because of the flesh - but I will go to be with God.

That is what I think, also. But I'm not sure about exactly what they thought about themselves. To me, no one in the ground is saved. But the only way out of the grave is through the resurrection.

Is death the ultimate upgrade?

What exactly do the dead have?

If we join the dead in Christ we have eternal life with Him, something we can be sure of regardless of the condition of our bodies.

2Co 5:1-8  For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.  (2)  For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven,  (3)  if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked.  (4)  For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life.  (5)  Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.  (6)  So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord.  (7)  For we walk by faith, not by sight.  (8)  We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
