This seems like a pretty solid study on the two witnesses, what they really are.

Assuming the witnesses are really the church, I wondered why the church would use such aggressive tactics as plagues, since we are supposed to be all about love? This is the only 'hole' I have seen so far and maybe it isn't really a hole.

I do agree these things are not literal. No we don't have fire breathing prophets IMO.

God will use alot of aggressive tactics during the 7 year tribulation. It is the wrath and judgment of God on this sinful and evil world.  Do you take any of the book of Revelation literally? We are to take as much as possible literal that is not figure of speech. Also, we are not to spiritualize Scripture by assigning meanings to words or phrases when it is clear the author, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, meant it to be understood as it is written. The two witnesses are two literal characters in the book of Revelation. I don't know about this movie and how accurate it is for the Christian world.

Anyone is more than welcome to disagree with this.

I feel he has a compelling argument.

I think the witness are two men who are prophet's. Moses and Aaron were two prophet's sent to pharaoh. They did signs too. I think the two witnesses will be like them.

I’m not sure, but it may be that there will be the Two Witnesses and the two types of churches, the ones that Jesus approved of —Smyrna and Philadelphia—who taught the Truth.  After all, it will be the Elect who will be delivered up:

“And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth." These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands standing before the God of the earth.

- Revelation 11:3-4

But when they arrest you and deliver you up, do not worry beforehand, or premeditate what you will speak. But whatever is given you in that hour, speak that; for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.

- Mark 13:11

Interesting take on this @Selah7.

I thought he was convincing in showing the association of trees, specifically olive trees as God's people. In his description, he also mentions the grafting, yet another tree related thought, and so according to this, the trees are those both the Jews and the grafted. I don't think there is any question the lampstands are churches. In this case though, instead of viewing the gentiles as a branch, they have become an accompanying tree. Do you have any thoughts on that?

Possibly the two witnesses are representatives of these entities if they are individuals. For me, the language is so very symbolic in terms of what they do ( expelling fire from their mouths) I tend to think of fire the way fire is seen in a spiritual sense. Remember the tongues of fire that rested on the heads of the belivers who were filled with the spirit to speak in other languages? Remember the fire that was involved when Ezekiel took a coal into his mouth?

Yes, it seems that trees are used throughout the Bible to symbolize people.  I’m wondering also if these two olive trees could represent the two houses of Israel (including “spiritual” Israel).  Regardless, these two witnesses will be clothed in sackcloth, witnessing and warning people in this very close-to-the-end of the latter days.

I’m remembering that …

Hebrews 12:29 "For our God is a consuming fire."

My thought on this is that this consuming fire is the presence of God’s glory, the Holy Spirit.

How awesome!

Yes!

I had forgotten about that Hebrews passage.

This also reminds me of the passage that deals with not knowing what to say if we happen to be one of those here when we are taken before some of these world leaders. The HOLY SPIRIT will speak through us.

The Holy Spirit is very active during these times!

Yes, and this, I believe, is how the Gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world!  The Holy Spirit will be heard in every corner of the earth!

"And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
