But what you described isn't exactly what I was looking for . . . I mean a time where you had a true encounter with the Lord, something where at the time there was no room for doubt.

Well at the time I did actually think this was a true encounter with god. I took my *healing* to be an answer from him. Maybe not what you are looking for, but you almost expect this true encounter, which seems strange.

Hi MrB:

Can I ask you a couple of questions? I'm curious.

* how old are you?

* what "were" you before the 8 years as a Christian?

* what 1 thing convinced you that Jesus is not God?

* do you want us to help you believe again?

* would you like us to pray for you?

Peace,

Fiosh

Well at the time I did actually think this was a true encounter with god.

I understand that - I had experiences, too, where I thought it was God -

as one song I love goes:

So many times in my life

I thought it was You

But I was mistaken

So many things in my life

I thought were from You

But now they've been taken

But through the confusion

The things of my life

The struggle that always remains

No matter how hopeless and dark it may seem

You never change. . . .

But is this the only example you have?

Because by what you are saying, it sounds like you had more of a religion than a relationship going on there. :emot-handshake:

Would you please describe one of these experiences?

Why did you believe this was God at the time (beyond "wanting")?

And what do you have now to replace this? (Not what else to explain this - but what you have now to replace what you found then.)

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I have asthma. I prayed that this would be taken away so that I would not have to keep on taking my meds every day. One night I felt a strong urge not to take my meds, I felt this message was from god who was answering my prayer. I did not take anything that night. It felt weird and I was in some discomfort, but I managed through the night, and for the next few months. I took this to be an answer to my prayer, and gave god the praise etc. I was having problems breathing but I was determined not to take anything for it. After a few more weeks though I was really having breathing problems, and reluctantly had to go back to my meds. I think it's clear that I was deluding myself at the time. I wanted to be healed so I convinced myself that I was.

It sounds like you got mixed up in some of the WOF bad teaching.

It may have been that you let go of your faith that it was going to work.

Yup. God isn't a genie in a bottle that you rub and chant over and then get what you want.

Could you expand your question? are you interested if Jesus is fictional or not, or if what He did was substantially different than a fictional character like Super-man

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I do not believe Jesus is God. I am sure there were many men named Jesus living at that time, but I do not believe that the Jesus in the bible is a factual person. I asked my question because fictional heroes tend to have similar attributes. Eg. Heroes tend to be loners who operate outside of society, like Jesus.

Jesus didn't have claws made of adamantium that he could extend and retract from the ends of his fists. He didn't have protoplasmic light that He could fire from His eyes at will. He wasn't a master of marital arts. He couldn't scale walls the the dexterity of a spider, and He couldn't fire webbing from His wrists. Jesus wasn't faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and He couldn't bend steel with His bare hands.

Jesus Christ was in no way, shape, or form comparable to a comic book superhero. He was - and is - the incarnate God. Nothing less.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Yeah, but ya gotta admit the way he drove those demons out of the man in Gadarenes, and into the swine.....that was pretty cool :emot-pray:

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The biggest miracle is how he took a person like me who was full of sin, and is in the process of transforming me so that I can serve Him

I literally brainwashed myself in order to submerge myself in Jesus, to get to know him intimately. It's a one sided relationship though. We didn't even go out for a cup of coffee together!

He likes Chi tea :24: He was at the table with me and a friend at the coffee shop not long ago. Our tea came, we prayed....and He WAS there :emot-pray:

You say you invested 8 years of your life into Christianity.....Jesus invested His entire life in you.

Jesus loves you. That won't change no matter how far you try to run away from Him. :28:

Would you categorize Jesus as a hero? Many fictional stories are based on a character who saves the day. Is Jesus just another of these characters?

MrBlobby:

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

A hero is a concept of the flesh. Christ is God. Christ is the king of the soon to be saved creation. The Almighty Spirit of light that will soon separate those who would not come to the Light into outer darkness for eternity.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
