Water baptism with a right comprehension is essential to a believer's walk,

going forward in the "newness of life."

Acts 10: Then Peter answered,

47 Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized

who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?”

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.

Then they asked him to stay a few days.

Water baptism is the death and burial of the old man.

No death, no resurrection power in the believer's life.

Water baptism is more than the path of salvation, it is the new beginning

of overcoming life coming forth, not just hanging in there.

Romans 6:

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?

Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?

3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized

into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?

4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death,

that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father,

even so we also should walk in newness of life.

5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death,

certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection.

Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Greetings, Mr. M :)

I truly believe that baptism, which represents the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, is something we all desire to do and that it is our faith in Christ that saves us. Baptism demonstrates spiritually what takes place after a person receives Christ:

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

- 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

Not following the  apostolic doctrine undermines the conscience

cleansing efficacy of OBEDIENCE.

1 Peter 3:21 The like figure where unto even baptism doth also now save us

(not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,)

by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

Hebrews 10:19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus,

20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh,

21 and having a High Priest over the house of God,

22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled

from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

Mr. M

What result was produced by water baptism if it has efficacy or was it just a witness of something far greater?

Thanks for your response Mr. M.

1Pe 3:21  The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

The verse clearly says this baptism saves us and you stated water baptism is efficacious which would mean the act of water baptism saves . Do you believe water baptism is required for salvation?

A better understanding of this baptism would be to not add the word water to the verse.

The word water was not added to the verse. By efficacy I mean more than merely symbolic. Baptism is an act of obedience made effectual by the faith of Christ Jesus.

20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

21 The like figure thereunto even baptism doth also now save us; not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: (saved by faith)

The only way to have a good conscience toward God is to walk in obedience,

by which the Holy Spirit has no reason to convict us.

Acts 24:16 And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience

void to offence toward God, and toward men.

Water baptism is an act of obedience.

There is no inherent efficacy of water without the command of the Lord.

Mark 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved;

but he who does not believe will be condemned.

Mr. M

Baptism in water would be a righteous work and we know it's not by works of righteousness. We now have the Holy Spirit of the ascended Christ that freed us from works of righteousness for salvation.

Eph 2:7  That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
Eph 2:8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9  Not of works, lest any man should boast.

2Co 3:17  Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty

From G1658; freedom (legitimate or licentious, chiefly moral or ceremonial): - liberty.

Christ Jesus by the Spirit baptizes us into his body superseding the need for water baptism.

1Co 12:13  For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

The drinking of the Spirit cleanses the spirit of man on the inside where it counts.

Eternal life is received by the obedience of one so the gift of righteousness may be free (without man's works of righteousness).

Rom 5:18  Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
Rom 5:19  For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
