This will open the flood gates for the Sigil of Satan to be displayed, and other religious paraphernalia.

Freedom OF religion not freedom FROM religion.

I can't tell you how many times I've heard the comment.  The First Amendment clearly states "provides that Congress make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting its free exercise." Imposing any religion, including Christianity, on others violates that law.

Shalom, JimmyB.

Considering that the Ten Commandments are written on the walls of other D.C. buildings, too bad. Our country was FOUNDED upon God's Word. It's not against the First Amendment when one takes into consideration what that meant in the 1700s. Read the Federalist Papers!

All that is saying is that you can't make a certain religion the official religion of the land and the second part of that sentence prevents the government from persecuting churches.

Putting the ten commandments in school violates neither of those things,

There have been court cases that have been decided: it is against the First Amendment to forcibly impose one's religion on others.  That includes using government to display any parts of the Bible on government buildings.  Obviously this doesn't apply to non-governmental buildings such as churches, mosques, or synagogues.

In May, the Republican-controlled Texas State House failed to advance a controversial bill on Tuesday that would have required public schools to display the Ten Commandments in every classroom.

Senate Bill 1515 was effectively killed early Wednesday morning after House lawmakers did not meet a midnight deadline for a vote that would have advanced the bill for a third and final passage.

BTW, on which government buildings are the Ten Commandments written on?
