Isn't it amazing how Man's Traditions are starting to show up in the spot light.

The only churches that don't have idols are the ones' that are labelled under cult churches.

However, at this time I think you may want to Pray for Peace. The United States is going to need it.

If we get bombed, the concern about idols, will be the least thought on everyones minds.

You bring up a good point, why have christians let all of this continue on since 1517 -Reformation era.

I think alot of Pastors didn't want to rock the boat so to speak. Plus now that this is established, what will man do to change it.

Maybe the false prophet is planning on taking on the challenge.

Will will just have to see.

Uh, I'm probably gonna get skinned alive here but oh, well...

I have a handcarved cross made in Indonesia hanging on the wall.  I also have some lovely Christian artwork, including beautiful pictures with scriptures written underneath them.

Maybe some think it's pagan or something but I haven't felt a teeny bit of conviction by the Holy Spirit yet.

I also have a wooden handcarved saying, "Jesus Is Lord" on my wall.

Why is there so much controversy? Does this mean my salvation is under scrutiny?

I think we should look at the context of the scripture in reference to "graven images"...Back then the people would use these graven images to substitute for God. They'd pray to them and bow down before them and honor them....

When we have a lovely painting hanging up on our walls or a cross or a scripture in beautiful calligraphic style on the wall... I can't even imagine that being a sin. Can anybody?

Actually, I think that it is a heart condition. In the OT, where the people had actual idols, they (the people) were doing unspeakable things in worship of them. Nowadays, people do the same thing IF their heart is not right with God. Your idols are those things that take your heart away from God. If a church has a steeple and a sanctuary full of true God-fearing God-loving people, then is the steeple an idol or a piece of architecture? Is God looking at the church building or the hearts of the people inside the church? If He is looking at the building then I am in deep trouble at my work place, home, church, government building of any kind, football stadium, city bus, museum, wal-mart, kinko's, etc, etc, etc. If our heart is not right, then all that we have is idols.
