He already knows I approve of his choices of tattoo's.  He had told me his plan and then when he texted the photo I told him it was beautiful.

@debrakay Well....I expect anyway when he eventually shows you it 'in the flesh' when he visits, he will secretly be hoping for another compliment..... :)

He is reserved and quiet and I know it is his way of being a testimony to his buddies and those who might ask.

PS: @debrakay Reminds me of the young lady with whom my wife and I talked with the whole of the wording of John 3.16 tattooed on her arm.

She seemed reserved and a bit shy (maybe a bit like your grandson) but oh so quietly confident as a recently inked up adult with some Scripture pumped into her arm.

Your description of your grandson reminded me of this.

Seems now the tattoo parlor is where so many Christian young men and women are really pleased to go to have something similar done. (Kind of touching, really....almost brings a lump to one's throat, right?)

Hi @HopeInHim

I have thought about getting some sort of wedding ring type tattoo on my ring finger underneath my wedding ring so that something will always be there even if I weren’t wearing my rings for some reason. In that sense, it’s an outward symbol of something I wish to express as a never ending and permanent part of me. In that way, I can see what would move someone to want to express a piece of scripture in this way.

A good way to assert the sanctity of marriage, right? :)

(You could always ask a tattoo artist - noncommittally - for a quote...)

Romans 14:13 Therefore let us not judge one another [d]anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way.

(just a highlight from that chapter. :) )

There is that, but I would also remind a brother or sister:

1 Corinthians 6:12 All things are lawful for me,

but all things are not helpful.

All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought

under the power of any.

1 Corinthians 10:23 All things are lawful for me,

but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me,

but not all things edify.

"I will not be brought under the power of any".

What many seem to lack an understanding of is that like

ourselves, there is a spiritual side of everything, and spirits

are territorial. In other words, if you go anywhere people

"hang out", you will find certain spirits, whether a bar or

a barbershop. No different than going into a tattoo parlor.

Spiritual warfare comes before effective witnessing. People

go out thinking they can "share their faith", and have never

prayed up into the full armor of God, and they get chewed up

on the streets. I have seen someone who you would least expect,

drugged out in the French Quarter (in NOLA), and humiliate

a brother,  with a superior knowledge of scripture.

Devils know the word!

Now before you read something into that statement, I did not say you have to have superior knowledge of scripture to go out and witness. I said you better be prayed up into the full armor of God, and you can trust that the Lord will give you the words to speak, as promised.

I apologize if I am coming on hot and heavy, but I felt convicted

to have more say on this than an "all things are legal", so "don't

judge a brother, or sister". I am not judging anything or any body.

I am ministering in the word and prayer, and I pray that this will

be received in a good spirit, and provide valuable insights and

scripture to bear on the discussion. Still a good thread.

That's a blessing!

@Mr. M

Good points indeed about the strong need for prayer and the reality of spiritual warfare and armor.

Still a good thread.

Thank-you.

No, I am pretty sure not. She is a grown woman, it is her choice.  I Don't even think about it myself

@Anne2 I reckon getting tattooed is one of many things - such as smoking - which if an adult woman feels she wants to do, then she ought to be able to do without being affected by whether religious legalists worrying if it's supposedly not 'lady-like' or whatever.

Some of their friends have alot. I never even really thought about my daughter doing that because of her personality. She has her kids first initials on the insde of her wrist, just one letter on each one. Very small. A small one on on of her back shoulder. And one one the backside of her neck. all small.

@Anne2 These days and for years now, also, it's become very widespread in demographics such as military families to have it done.

For example, a significant proportion of military spouses might feel there are strong reasons to become users of a tattoo parlor in order to express designs that reflect themes such as patriotism, family and faith.

This likely occurs in the most conservative of families. I don't know whether your daughter has any military links, but even when tattoos are gotten to profusion, the person may well be thorough conservative in outlook, right?

Ha my wife just asked, "Are you okay?!" I was looking evidently rather intently at both my arms thinking about where the tattoo could go. She got concerned I was having an issue of some kind. Guess I was at that.

@Neighbor Some months back you said this; I guess your dw has never been interested thus far in a tattoo, whether faith based or otherwise?

Often with senior women it's the names of family members or Bible ref.s that are likely to feature in any tattoos that they might contemplate receiving.

Ha, no. Lately skin peels to fight off cancers are more the topic of interest. No time, nor monies, for body art stenciling. That and biopsies of skin areas. I can imagine having a fine drawing of whatever, being so pleased and then having a biopsy taken from in the middle of it, ha.

@Neighbor I hope your wife's biopsy/cancer treatment options go well.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
