His post is a perfect example of an ad hominem attack. Ad hominem means “against the man,” and this type of fallacy occurs when someone attacks the person instead of attacking his or her argument. I couldn't have picked a better example to illustrate my point.

The Lord had gracious words and commanded that we use them. There is another side of the story that might need mention. That is, the servant of the Lord must be ready to take a few blows for the sake of his/her honest opinion. I like the posting rules, and every entity needs government. But a little "reviling" isn't much different from passionate argument. And don't forget that a reviling is good for your heavenly account (Matt.5:11-12) I do not think that personal attacks are appropriate. That type of behavior is described as ad hominem. Ad hominem means “against the man,” and this type of fallacy is sometimes called name calling or the personal attack fallacy. This type of fallacy occurs when someone attacks the person instead of attacking his or her argument.

Mo, but I try not to behave that way. I try to stick to the subject and not attack the person.

Well just remember that for those of us in Christ, there is no condemnation. We can just thank the Lord for shedding His blood to make us righteous and immediately turn back to Him!
