(Worthy News) – A new survey by Gallup shows there has been a substantial decline in religious faith among young adults over the last 20 years, with fewer than 60% now saying they believe in God, the Washington Examiner reports.

According to the Gallup poll released on Thursday, just 59% of American 18- to 34-year-olds now believe in God, compared to 90% in 2001, the Examiner reports.

Thursday’s survey found that 67% of young adults believe in heaven, a 16-point drop from 2001, and 59% said they believe in hell, a drop of 12 points from 2001, the Examiner said. Fifty-eight percent said they believe in the devil, a 10-point drop from 2001.

“I guess this isn’t terribly surprising, given that we’ve seen recent declines in confidence in organized religion,” Megan Brenan, a Gallup senior editor, said in a statement about the findings. Brenan added that Gallup has recorded overall declines in the number of people attending church and identifying with a particular denomination, and increases in the number of people who list “none” as a spiritual affiliation.

“All those things have kind of been pointing in this direction. So I’d say I’m not terribly surprised,” Brenan said. “If you look at the list of the other four spiritual entities — angels, heaven, hell, and the devil — those also have declined. I think it’s just the general shift, particularly among young Americans, in their belief.”

Yeah The Nones (no religion) are large group of the newer generations. The Dones (those done with organized religion) is growing too as evidenced in the UK: churches and cathedrals turned into pubs and yoga studios.

Only took banning God from the public schools for several generations to accomplish this.  Satan knows what he is doing and how to do it.

Most people find it's easier to just co-operate with Satan than to oppose him by raising their children the way the Bible tells them to.

Think:  A single generation not teaching Christianity to their children and Christianity becomes extinct.

If you love your children, don't let them attend public schools.  There are still legal alternatives available, at least for a short while.  For some reason, we don't know what we've got till it's gone.

I'll never understand the "blame the schools" thing. They have kids for 6 hours at most for half a year. Blame the parents - they have the most direct impact on their kids.

Yeah, imagine if those little kids hear that there is no God from their teachers for 6 hours a day, for half a year, or that talking about God is not allowed (It is not illegal here in the USA, but schools make it sound like it is).  Of course, the other religions like evolution theory and global warming are allowed at tax payer expense.  It's no wonder that most kids believe those religions without any evidence.

I agree that bad parenting is an issue, but never discount the power of indoctrination centers in the USA (Government Schools).  :emot-nod:

It didn't stop my kids from learning about the Father, Spirit, and Son and putting them first in their lives.  If a parent isn't able to override anything a teacher puts out, they are not good parents and don't have a parental relationship with thier children.    It is the parents fault.

I can't speak for other states, but it is illegal for anyone to stop a student from praying in school unless it's disrupting the learning around them.   I know in my wife's kindergarten class I personally have witnessed five to ten 5 and 6 year olds take hands and pray for one of thier friends for all kinds of things.    And they don't make a big production about it just speak out as though Jesus was in their group and they were talking to a good friend.   Gives me goose bumps just to think about it.

I also know high school science teachers who have to teach evolution that tell their students they don't believe what they are about to read and hear, but the school system says they have to learn it and be tested over it....   after they make good grades on the test they can do whatever they wish with the information.

I am glad to hear that kids pray and are that told evolution is just a theory, and that they are not pressured where you are.

I think that I should clarify, public schools are afraid of threatened lawsuits if Christianity is taught but there is no law prohibiting it, but schools act like it is illegal to teach it.  The only law affecting a religion, in this case Evolution Theory, was struct down that evolution should be taught by law.  Talking about bad parenting, parents should be involved in text book choice long before the books show up for the kids because, by that time, it's too late.  Text books are given to schools to review years before they are chosen, but how many parents look?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
