Tropical Storm "Alpha"

I realize that tropical storm "Alpha" has now been consumed by hurricane "Wilma," but a question has been posed to my mind as to whether there might be a hidden meaning behind us now, for the first time ever, going into the Greek alphabet to name storms and that we now have begun with "Alpha." Is God trying to say something here?

Our local weatherman (out of Grand Rapids, wzzm 13) was talking on his segment that there was only one letter of the alphabet left...at that time it was W, well then he commented on how then we go to the greek alphabet...he said the first name would be Alpha, and then he looked at the camera and said "what if we get to Omega?" I was expecting him to go on...but he didn't he fell silent and they went back to the news.

All I could say was "wow"

Revelation 21:5-7: "He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."

He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son."

Revelation 22:12-14: "Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

"Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city."

I thought about that too when I heard it. Now I am wondering, why didn't they finish translating that verse into English? It should read ( In English) I am the A and the Z.

The Hebrew would be more telling, especially if you revert back to the original alef-bet.

It would say , (The Name of G-d in Hebrew) and then Alef and Tav .........no 'the' added.

Alef in ancient Hebrew doesn't mean beginning but it means leader,first,strength,

Tav- in ancient Hebrew does not mean end though as some would believe, but rather , it means Covenant, to seal, or 'SIGN'.

Now why do you suppose NOAA chose to use the Greek Alphabet instead of names? Why not use the international morse code for letters? Which would also start with Alpha, but not continue on the Greek alphabet........ Bravo, Charlie.

What I am finding interesting now is that Wilma 'swallowed up' Alpha.

Well, because there is not a direct 1 to 1 relationship between the greek alphabet, and the english counterpart. For example, the Spanish alphabet has 30 distinct "letters", while the english has 26.

So it was correct for them not to translate Alpha and Omega.

All alef-bets have first letters and last letters do they not?

Scientists love using Greek - plain as that.

got it right there- it sure does seem like scientists like greek.... perhaps it is because our whole civilization is reverting to the issues the greeks had....

I was wondering if God was trying to give a message that this is the beginning of the end, perhaps by Wilma (representing the end of the English alphabet) swallowing up Alpha or as a sign that HE is soon to return. Nothing in nature happens by accident, and in fact the scriptures talk about how God controls the wind and the waves to do "his bidding." I can truly see the hand of God in all that has been going on, especially within the last year. It is almost like watching a story unfold before you. Like, why New Orleans? Why has Florida gotten hit with 8 hurricanes in 15 mos.? Why is the East Coast suffering so with flooding and now this Noreaster (sp?) is slammering them again. It seems we just go from one natural disaster to another with no break. And, now we had "Alpha." Look at how many records have been broken this 2004/2005 season. It seems like we are setting records every day. Does anyone else feel like things are going really fast? And, is "Alpha" to be a subtle hint to us that we are nearing the end?
