I haven't ever grown my hair very long, but since it was very short I decided to go the other way and see if I like it.

It's at that awkward in between stage right now. Not short, not long. I don't plan to grow it extremely long, just maybe longish.

How long can I grow it and not have it too long?

The bible says it's a shame for a man to have long hair, but define "long"??

Thoughts?

1 corinthians 11:14
doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a dishonour to him? the roman satirist lashes the effeminacy of some men in his day who wore their hair long (juv., sat. ii. 96).

That doesn't answer your question.

Some women have their hair cut short, so I'm thinking not to have it longer than that, but in my mind's eye, I'm thinking that would look silly, it would be neither here nor there. I dislike a ponytail on a man, and personally, I like a short back and sides. A friend has a razor cut meaning long on top while being short around the face.

As far as I'm concerned, there are no rules bro . . . so what is the life within you saying?

(and I've seen pictures of Jesus and His hair was pretty long :red-neck-laughing-smiley-emoticon:)

I don't care for pony tails either. I was thinking maybe more of a Jesse James look. I mean in reality it's just silly hair. Jesus is often depicted with Long hair more often than not. In fact His hair looks feminine long in many of the portrayals.

Where I came from I was buzzed all the time. Most efficient method for a child. Although I have one pic where my hair is long as a child. My dad being a military man never had long hair and only my drug dealing uncles had it.

I never quite figured out how nature teaches us that men shouldn't have long hair? My theory is it just isn't practicle for a man in the working world since we are often in situations that could hamper our safety or slow us down. Maybe that's what it means. Other wise I can't see it. Yes a long haired man as in very long DOES look feminine. Why I think that is probably because I always associated very long hair with women.

I think there could be some leeway there in not having a "buzz cut" but something longer.

Ditto on this - I also thought it might have something to do with practicality . . . long hair can get caught in things, it's hot when working, one tends to fuss with longer hair more, etc.  And, if in battle or some struggle with another (which is more man's role), long hair is not an advantage.

@Starise If you couldn't make up your mind about the hair, you could for example always pierce your ears instead (assuming they are not pierced already).

LOL. Well I have the long lobes for it. I am in between just getting my clippers out and no longer worrying about it and trying it to see how I like it longer, but as a neat freak it already feels odd as it gets past where it usually is. I'm at the point where I need a lot of oil to keep it behind my ears or it pops over them and looks odd.

Well, there is also the complete headshave. (Like, shorter than GI Jane's...)

Actually plenty of men seem to pull it off with both a headshave and chunky ear studs.

I have been told I looked good bald which was for medical reasons. Otherwise I would not have had it that short. So now I'm thinking about going full Monte and letting it grow.

The bald look is sexy I have been told by the other sex, but I'm married and don't much care what the other sex thinks is sexy about me any more. My wife wouldn't care either way as she has no apparent opinion on it. The ear studs would probably get her attention lol.

When I was about 35yrs old I had probably my longest hair but today would not be considered long,  but enough to 'fit in.'
Was helping a neighbor drilling some large steel I beams with my 1/2" drill, and it was hard and hot. I felt the little breeze coming from the drill cooling fan and leaned down to cool my face. Wrong. The 1/2" drill bit caught my hair and wound up my hair, the drill, my hands and wrist and cord, and was still running till my 'buddy' pulled the plug.

My fingers were closed tight on the trigger and could not release. He unwound the mess and looking at my scalped head said OOOhhhman, you're bald. Not really. just about a third on one side was totally void of any hair, but you could see a bazillion tiny tiny red dots (grave markers) And, my wife and I were going with her sister and husband that night for dinner and dancing.face.jpg.5a8844822175f8aaf17481eb5de263da.jpg

I took a shower (it really did hurt) got dressed and looked in the mirror. Called my wife and ask her to bring her hair spray (glue)  I combed my other side of hair over the bald spot and sprayed half of the can of spray and headed with the wife for a nite out. I just couldn't jump around or lean over or it would look like the top of my head was opening up.
As far as hair length today, I prefer function over aesthetics. I work around too many spinning tools, and sharp tools. Even dangling long sleeve shirts/gloves are a potential risk. I learned my lesson. Very long hair, gold chains, tattoos and ear piercings etc (to me) are a sign someone's not satisfied (to fit in) with God's original paint job. • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
