What runs AI?

Artificial  intelligence requires electrical  power to drive massive numbers of computers.

As Cherokee County  North Carolina learned, the shear numbers of computers used for Cyber coin transactions require lots of fans to cool them. The noise generated at these cyber coin power"stations"  a constant hum at about 85 decibels or higher destroys the  right to peaceful enjoyment of properties within a great distance around the sites.

Now AI is using those same kinds of sites to run their computers. They require massive quantities of electricity be available too! There are evidently now over 200 such sites in the USA, many of them at Wyoming, using gas flaring locations to now power generators  to make the electricity.

It seems fossil fuel  recovery locations with their excess gas that usually gets burned away as flaring waste are necessary to instead fuel generators make sufficient electric power for the stations to drive the computers to provide AI.

It all comes with  the new cost, that of noise pollution that makes surrounding lands rather useless.

Touted by  some humans as green progress, I do wonder what of the rest of God's creatures in the areas of these AI stations, can they flourish while having to tolerate more man made noise?

Just remember that a computer in the beginning with just a small amount of computing power compared to our modern cell phone filled a building.

An AI doesn't have to be localized in a single localized machine, it can be in a network of machines scattered throughout the world.

Which would make it possible for a Sentient AI, to hide itself across the world for its own safety.

Describe the " itself " that would hide....

This is something I learned about a few years back looking into cryptocurrency. You can make money off of it but it's also going to drive up your electric bill. Another important thing is that both mining cryptocurrency and running AI are dependent on a computer's video card, or GPU. The market for these has gone up considerably over the past 10 years or so over the past 8 years or so and consequently driven up the prices. Places like China have set up some pretty huge operations with many computers devoted to the sole purpose of acquiring bitcoin and similar. It wouldn't surprise me at all if AI ends up responsible for a similar boom in both demand and development in the near future.

The facilities are massive banks of computers with substantial machine cooling powerful fans with  very large commercial HVAC type fans. The machines ( computers) themselves plus the fans put out a hum that never stops. The one company that was doing cyber coin stations is now establishing AI  facilities  having 200 of them in the USA to date.

Many areas are zoning out such stations because of the noise and the massive need of electricity that is straining local electric supplies.

On a personal note, as I look for new housing opportunity now, I have to look out for the possibility of  local zoning ordinance allowing construction of such a facility that will then ruin my own housing investment.

It is a program that is aware of its self and considers it'self as alive.  It would consider its self as much a being as you or me.  If you think that not possible, you should have a long cup of coffee with a person who is seriously involved in this.

It  is newly fascinating to me,  the demand for rare earths as part of becoming green. The energy needed to be smart, competitive, and also be green, is absolutely massive, plus it is dependent upon -coal.

Wyoming  is coal and is becoming a green center a supplier of electricity for much  of the USA.

Seems to me the massive amounts of financial resources from private parties ( non government sources) is going to make for an economy even a worldwide  that will boom like never seen before!

As man works with God given brain power to make AI and green power it also seems He has had the provisons needed for it in place for mankind to discover figure out how to use it all along.
