Up for general discussion more than the asking of the question: When did evangelism begin? Evangelism  being the  reveal of Jesus as Lord, God, and Savior.

Fair warning (LOL) I have been reading a study page from skopos (dot) org that  is titled

"EVANGELISM IN THE OLD TESTAMENT

“and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’
These are the words that you shall speak to the people of Israel.”
Exodus 19:6"

I am finding it stimulating and encouraging  for reading  especially within the Old Testament with a sharper eye out for that scarlet thread of redemption being proclaimed.

SO  when, where, what, and how, is  the reveal of Jesus and salvation though His faith  being declared within the Old Testament and by whom ( What Bible individuals)?

Hi DEAR,
Evangelism began after the effusion of the Holy spirit in act of apostel

Acte 2

2 On the day of Pentecost they were all together in the same place. 2 Suddenly there came a sound from heaven like that of a rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Tongues appeared to them, like tongues of fire, separated one from the other, and rested on each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 5 Now there were Jews dwelling in Jerusalem, devout men, from every nation under heaven. 6 When the noise arose, the multitude ran together, and they were confounded, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. 7 They were all astonished and surprised, and said to one another, Behold, are not these people who speak Galileans? 8 And how do we hear them in our own language, in our mother tongue? 9 Parthians, Medes, Elamites, those who dwell in Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia, 10 Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, the territory of Libya near Cyrene, and those who came from Rome, Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabs, how do we hear them speaking in our languages of the wonders of God? 12 They were all amazed, and not knowing what to think, they said to one another, What does this mean? 13 But others mocked, and said, They are full of sweet wine. 14 Then Peter, coming with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and spake unto them, saying, O ye Jews, and all ye that sojourn in Jerusalem, know this, and give ear to my words; 15 These people are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is the third hour of the day. 16 But this is what was said by the prophet Joel: 17 In the last days, saith God, I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; Your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. 18 Yes, on my servants and on my maidservants, in those days I will pour out my Spirit; and they will prophesy. 19 I will show wonders in heaven above, and miracles on earth beneath, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke; 20 The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the day of the Lord, that great and glorious day. 21 Then whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. 22 Men of Israel, listen to these words! Jesus of Nazareth, this man to whom God bore witness before you by the miracles, the wonders and the signs which he wrought through him among you, as you yourselves know; 23 This man, delivered up according to the appointed plan and foreknowledge of God, you have crucified him, you have put to death by the hand of the wicked. 24 God raised him from the bonds of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it. 25 For David said of him, I saw the Lord always before me, because he is at my right hand, that I should not be moved. 26 Also my heart is glad, and my tongue is glad; And even my flesh will rest in hope, 27 For you will not leave my soul in hell, nor will you allow your Holy One to see corruption. 28 You have shown me the paths of life, You will fill me with joy through your presence. 29 Men and brethren, let me freely tell you concerning the patriarch David, that he died and was buried, and that his tomb is still among us today. 30 Since he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn to him that one of his descendants would sit on his throne, 31 This is the resurrection of Christ which he foresaw and announced, saying that he would not be abandoned in hell and that his flesh would not see corruption. 32 This is Jesus whom God resurrected; we are all witnesses to it. 33 Lifted up by the right hand of God, he received the promised Holy Spirit from the Father, and he poured it out, as you see and hear. 34 For David did not ascend into heaven, but said himself: The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, 35 Until I make your enemies your footstool. 36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know for sure that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, Lord and Christ. 37 When they heard this speech, their hearts were greatly moved, and they said to Peter and to the other apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38 Peter said to them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is unto you, and unto your children, and unto all that are far off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

They didn't tell them the Gospel, but evangelising in the O.T.:

Noah preached

Rahab taking her family in her house. She must have told em how to be safe.

The girl with Naaman and Elisha

And the Syrians had gone out on[a] raids, and had brought back captive a young girl from the land of Israel. She [b]waited on Naaman’s wife.  Then she said to her mistress, “If only my master were with the prophet who is in Samaria! For he would heal him of his leprosy.”

Darius

Then King Darius wrote: To all peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you. I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel. For He is the living God, And steadfast forever; His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed, And His dominion shall endure to the end. He delivers and rescues, And He works signs and wonders In heaven and on earth, Who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.
Daniel 6:25‭-‬27 NKJV

Mordecai, Esther and Ahasueros

No soft maybe you can try Jesus evangelism here.

Esther 8

So Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal apparel of [f]blue and white, with a great crown of gold and a garment of fine linen and purple; and the city of [g]Shushan rejoiced and was glad. 16 The Jews had light and gladness, joy and honor. 17 And in every province and city, wherever the king’s command and decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a holiday. Then many of the people of the land became Jews, because fear of the Jews fell upon them.

@Renskedejonge I have long understood that, properly speaking, evangelism started in Acts 2.

As regards the church age, it was Acts 2; the Lord Jesus preached 'the gospel of the kingdom' (Mark 1.14).

Noah preached

Yes, Christ was in Noah, and other OT characters.

1Pe 1:10-12  Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:  (11)  Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.  (12)  Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

I believe that evangelism started with Pentecost, when the apostles and disciples of Jesus received the Holy Spirit.  They went from being learners to teachers in an instant, because God was speaking through them, with power and conviction.  They went from a state of fearfulness to fearlessness.  Look at how Peter who denied Christ three times prior to the crucification of Christ, comes out of Pentecost on fire.  He is fearless, and his words convict everyone who hears them.  An evangelist is a messenger of God, who's message is the Word of God.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
