What are some of the scriptures that foretell the rapture? I have looked and have not had much success. It seems that there is the need to put several scriptrues togather to get this idea. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Greetings Doug Garb,

Well, in actuality, there is ONLY one place that can be said to refer to "a" rapture. All the rest that pertain to the saints going to be with the Lord at his 2nd coming likely refer to the "resurrection".

1 Thess 4:15-17 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

In the Greek:

726 harpazo {har-pad'-zo}

from a derivative of 138; TDNT - 1:472,80; v

AV - catch up 4, take by force 3, catch away 2, pluck 2,

catch 1, pull 1; 13

1) to seize, carry off by force

2) to seize on, claim for one's self eagerly

3) to snatch out or away

In the Latin, I believe the word is "rapturo", where we get the word "rapture" from, meaning of course, the above word "harpazo".

You can see in the Thes. verses, that it occurs AFTER the resurrection, to ONLY THOSE WHO ARE ALIVE AND REMAIN, in other words, there will remain only a few Christians who are left alive AFTER the resurrection who will be RAPTURED.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

here are some (NIV version)

All of Mathew 24 gives insight to the sequence of very last days; key rapture scripture is

Mathew 24:30-31: At that time the sign of the Son of Man will apear in the sky and all the nations of the earth will mourn They will see the sone on Man coming on the clouds of the sky with tpoweer and great glory. And he hill send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the 4 winds, from one end of heaven to the other

Mathew 24:40-41 Two men will be in the field, one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be ginding in the mill; one will be taken and the other left.

Rev 11:11-12 But after three and a half days a breath of life entered them, and they stood on their feet, and terror struck those who saw them. Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, 'Come up here', And they went up to heaven in a cloud, while their enimies looked on.

Jude 1:14 "Enoch the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men: ' See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousds of his holy ones, to judge everyone, and to convict all the ungodly of all the ungodly acts they have done in the ungodly way, and all the harsh words ungodly sinners have spoken against him".

1Thess 4:15 According to the Lords own word, we tell you that we who are left till the coming of the Lord will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air And so we will be with the Lord forever.

2Thess 2:1 Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers, not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by some prophecy, report or letter supposed to have come from us, saying that the day of the Lord has already come.

These are only some of them, sorry I will post more later...I got to go to bed! MK202002

elevation to the cloud on which is Son of Man is just metaphore for spiritual ressurection,

when people with Holy Siprit will be @ the sam level, above spirit of those " who'll stay

below " Phisycally they'll all end up here on the grounds of New Jerusalem.

That's rapture, only the most important thing that can happen' to a man. That's when your

lucky number will be called. Either you have it or you don't, if you don't, then meaning of your life is identical to one of someone, who was never born.

Sounds like you believe in some type of spiritual lottery?

But don't be surprised when some day millions of believers suddenly come up missing. These are the ones that are waiting for their master to return for them just as He promised, to receive them to the place that He has been preparing for them.

I don't believe, I know. Word says " and everyone who calls on the name of the Lord

will be saved. "

Surprised ? Not millions, but billions will end up missing, forever .

resistance is useless

areyou trying to teach universalism?????

not every one that enters a church and says Jesus will enter.....

not all believers will enter....

satan believes, and satans destiny is set.... he is doomed....

there will be some that will say Lord have we not done this and that and other.... havent i cast out demons, didnt i heal the sick, didnt I do this, didnt I do that in your name????

and the Lord will tell them begone.......

their focus is not on the Lord but on themselves.....

just as the rich man, who kept all the laws, but still lacked one thing, and that is he would not give up his wealth to follow Christ....

a person has to follow.....

not everyone that claims to be Christian will go either.....

what most people consider to be a Christian, is some one that is not jewish, muslim hindu, buhdist, j.w. and other religions....

a person can do all the right things, sa y all the right things and even dress like they are doing the right thing, but..... if they do not have it in their heart..... all that good is worthless.... if they sre doing it for themselves, then it is worthless.....

many people will receive their rewards here on this earth.... some are storing up their treasures here.... others are stockpiling them with the Lord....

not all that say Lord Lord willl see eternal life.....

Well, in actuality, there is ONLY one place that can be said to refer to "a" rapture.

I believe this is another description of the rapture

I really believe this scripture below speaks of a second appearance of Jesus to those who are eagerly awaiting Him.

Also He comes to save, but not from our sins, but from the wrath to come. ie, he comes without reference to sin.

Notice also that this is the second appearance of Christ, an appearance, not a second coming, which indicates that this appearance is before the time of His coming, as described in revelation 19:11

Sequence I believe is:

1. Christ comes to earth born of a virgin to die for the sins of the world.

2. He appears in the air, and those who eagerly await Him will be with Him

3. He comes as in Revelation chapters 19, and 20 to rule and reign on earth for a thousand years.

Hebrews 9:28

"So Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him."

Too long. :)

My eyes hurt after reading so much after a while!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
