Could French-style riots happen here?

The soaring Muslim population is a Fifth Column inside Europe. What has always made America great was the ability of this nation to assimilate immigrants into her general population. During the early part of the 20th century for example, many Irish came over and became citizens, yet still maintaining their proud heritage at home. The same for the Italians, who came over and learned to speak the dominant culture's language,at least while in public if not at home. This has not happened in Eurpope. The rioters are of Arab and African descent, and Muslim. While almost all are French citizens, they are not part of the French people. For never have they been assimilated into French culture or society. And some wish to remain who and what they are. They live in France but are not French.

No European nation has ever assimilated a large body of immigrant peoples, let alone people of color. Moreover, the African and Islamic peoples pouring into Europe-there are 20 million there now-are, unlike black Americans, strangers in a new land, and millions wish to remain proud Algerians, Muslims, Moroccans.

Severed from the civilization and cultures of their parents, these Arab and Muslim youth may hold French citizenship and carry French passports, but they are no more French than Americans who live in Paris are French. Searching for a community to which they can truly belong, they gravitate to mosques where the imams, many themselves immigrants, teach and preach that the West is not their true home, but a civilization alien to their values and historically hostile to their nations and Islam.

If American continues downt the dangerous road of multiculturalism, we will indeed face the same thing. It is only a matter of time, should the Lord tarry.

Actually there are no Muslim gettos that I am aware of here in the U.S.. Most Muslims do quite well and live the good life here. Its funny how American culture is always put down by leftist media types and France is hailed as a shining city on the hill. (socially speaking) There is some truth to the point Yod was making about French Muslims being alianated from the mainstream. Jews don't seem to win popularity contests there either. But riots here? I doubt it. Nuclear explosions?..now thats scares me? It dosen't take a mob. Just a few nutcases.

This is correct from my standpoint. We have family that lives near Detroit, and I can tell you with absolute first hand knowledge that the muslims in that area are NOT poor. They own most of the party stores and gas stations, even some dry cleaners, flower shops etc....

I can say this though, after 9-11, about 2 weeks after we went down and seen my family there, and I have never seen so many stores with American flags in the windows...the muslim business owners went out of their way displaying the flag. One of those things that made me go hummmmmmm????

I think we're pretty good at assimilating immigrants. I now live on the border of New Mexico and Mexico. My house is about a 1/2 mile from the Rio Grande.

79% of the population is Hispanic. The people are assimilated. There's no racial tensions; no cultural strife ...and YES, there are many impoverished Hispanics (*yet NO riots).

When you introduce Muslims into a society, they don't seem to have much problem assimilating. When you introduce radical extremism, THEN you have problems.

Radical Islam is a definite threat and I believe this is at the CORE of the riots in France...NOT so-called 'poverty'. Poverty might throw fuel on the fire...but a radical belief system is the "real tinder box".

I was in England in 1985. I was priveledged to be present a pro Ayatolah Homeini(sp) rally s they burned an effigy of uncle sam. I was warned to wear a Canandian flag somewhere on my person so as not o be misaken for an American. I just sood there and kept my mouth shut and le my maple leaf lapel pin do he talking.

As for knowing about hooligans, we do get world news here ya know
