I was reading this passage from 1 Timothy in a study of pride and its effects.

1 Timothy 3:1 This is a faithful saying: If a man desires the position of an overseer, he desires a good work. 2 An overseer then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach; 3 not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous; 4 one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence 5 (for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?);
6 not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil. 7 Moreover he must have a good testimony among those who are outside, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

Can a man of God, who by reason of pride fall into reproach unto the same condemnation as the devil still be saved, or is that same condemnation the lake of fire? I did note the word 'same' is italicized, not in the original or in the King James.

We know that so long as we persist on this earth, the Lord disciplines us. Being the recipient of His discipline and restored by Him, I can say with confidence that He is faithful to bring us back into the fold. With that said, those who refuse His discipline and persist in their sins will most assuredly be subject to that condemnation.

I believe this hinges upon "so long as we persist in this world," brother. There's always hope in Christ.

God's discipline is indeed the remedy for pride. What all must accept is that God uses mature members of the Body of Christ to enforce that discipline. If in pride that discipline is not received, they are no longer in Christ.

Matthew 18:

15 Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother.

16 But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’

17 And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.

The result of failing to apply this teaching

was costly for the early church in Jerusalem.

Acts 6:

3 Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men

of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom,

whom we may appoint over this business;

4 but we will give ourselves continually to prayer

and to the ministry of the word.

5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude.

And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit,

and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas,

and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch

6 whom they set before the apostles; and when they had prayed,

they laid hands on them.

Revelation 2:

6 But this you have, that you hate the deeds

of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

15 Thus you also have those who hold the doctrine

of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.

I think context matters here. Somethings quoted was when they were all under the law 613 and did sacrifices. The Nicolaitans taught that Christians were free to indulge in any of the lusts of the flesh that they might desire. If the Nicolaitans of the First Century promoted that kind of sin, it is no wonder the lord hated their deeds. Praise God for Act's.. that is Christianity. Those Holy Spirit filled tongue talking believers.. ooh would they be welcome. Hmm who would freely welcome them :)

"Can a man of God, who by reason of pride fall into reproach unto the same condemnation as the devil still be saved, or is that same condemnation the lake of fire? I did note the word 'same' is italicized, not in the original or in the King James."

I can not see how that could ever happen. Think Satan was created perfect and was with God seeing Him in all His glory and power and then sin was found in him. He freely rejected God. Now what has man seen? Go for it share. No man can. We are born into darkness until He found us. Then because we simply believe in trust in Jesus Christ as its written are in right standing with God also known as righteousness. Fact is doubt is not of God.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
