Jesus said to the disciples on the road to Emmaus on the day of his resurrection that in the volume of the book and the Psalms is written about me. And he proceeded to tell them and explain everything.

What a conversational Bible study this would have been! :)

But we still have the scriptures and we can still try to connect and hopefully the Holy Spirit can help us.

By reading the story of Abraham and Isaac the Lord left a lot of clues for us and after the fact it is easier to understand.

First is that God will choose the Lamb and its not going to be young as Issac was who was trickled to carry the wood up the mountain without knowing what will happen.

God provided to Abraham a ram a make sheep up to three years old. Alone as it was. As this the choice of God alone.

God said to Abraham not this Lamb looking to Issac. Indicating that the Lamb of God it is a man also from Abraham.

A ram is to an adult in contrast to Issac and who willingly will carry up to the mountain the wood knowingly that he is the Lamb to be slain.

And that not Abraham but his descendants will slain the Lanb of God who is also the offspring of God and brought forth by the miracle of God in due time like a late birth just like Issac that could only come forth with the intervention of God. He had to be a special child and only one of its kind. Like

Issac who was figuratively the Son of God. Bringing to life both Abraham and Sarah to make that happen.

The leader Abraham was supposed to put Abraham to death. This time the elders of the people, those in authority will put him to death. On top of a hill.

Later the animal sacrifices would not do for many reasons because they are not the offspring of Abraham. The Lamb of God had to be a Man like Issac a make an adult a Ram.

The conjecture from the sacrifices in the Law could be made that he would be offered for the forgiveness of sins and to provide the blood of the Covenant. To Abraham it was more to provide the blood of a Covenant. Because that what he had at that time. And there are others.

It all points forward indeed in the OT to the Person and Work of Christ. Wonderful studies indeed........

Jesus read the book of Exodus and when he read Exodus 12 about the Passover lamb he knew that he will be slain on the Passover day.

The scripture says that on the 10th of the first month the month of Nissan you must set aside a Lamb (it denotes male)  and you must kill it on the 14th and eat it.

This why Jesus was saying that you must eat my flesh and drink my blood because he knew that he was the Passover lamb.

Jesus was set apart at the baptism of John in the Jordan River at about 30 years old ( the age the preists began their service in the Temple)  and in three years he knew  that he will die. This is sad, he not only knew that he will die but he knew when.

When he went to be baptized he knew that he will have only three years to live.

The lamb was set apart on the 10th of Nissan and it was killed on the 14th of Nissan after three days. Jesus knew that in three years he will die. This is why he said to his disciples stay with me awake in the Garden of Gethsemane he knew that it was the last hour to spent with them before the Cross and he cried. But they did not know that must have bothered them a lot at that time.

@Your closest friendnt The Luke account of the institution of the Lord's Supper gives the strongest among all the accounts of the indication how the Passover was changed into something different indeed: a remembrance of the finished work of Christ in the Lord's Supper.

More importantly Christ was in Abraham:

Abraham, also known as Avraham in Hebrew, holds a significant place in both the Old Testament and religious traditions. Let’s explore why his life is so important:

  1. The Abrahamic Covenant:

    • The central promise made by God to Abraham is known as the Abrahamic Covenant. It represents a foundational divine pledge.
    • God called Abraham to leave his homeland (Ur of the Chaldeans) and journey to an unknown land. In return, God promised to make him into a great nation and bless all nations through him.
    • Abraham’s obedience and trust in God are evident when he departs with his wife, Sarai (later named Sarah), and his nephew, Lot.
    • God renews the covenant with Abraham, promising descendants as numerous as the stars and reaffirming it through a formal ceremony.
    • Abraham’s humility is seen when he allows Lot to choose the land first1.
  2. Father of Many Nations:

  3. Righteousness by Faith:

    • Abraham’s story contains the first mention in the Bible of God’s righteousness assigned to man as the sole means of salvation (Genesis 15:6).
    • His unwavering trust in God exemplifies the concept of righteousness by faith.

In summary, apart from Jesus, no person might be more important to the understanding of the gospel than Abraham. His life teaches us about faith, obedience, and God’s covenant promises3. If you have any more questions or want to explore further, feel free to ask! 😊[Copilot]

@Michael37 there is no scripture to show that the commentary is from scripture in Genesis in the chapters about Abraham.

Some comments are truth but that doesn't make the commentary truth in it's entirety. No scripture reference from Genesis as foundations.

And definitely Abraham was not in the Heavenly Father.

How about this one:

Gen 12:1-3  Now the LORD had said to Abram: "Get out of your country, From your family And from your father's house, To a land that I will show you.  (2)  I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.  (3)  I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
