@Jayne My wife and I talked to a young lady with the wording of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist; she seemed to radiate a quiet confidence and joy.

(It just wouldn't make sense to say that the moment the tattoo machine made her a tattooed lady she thus supposedly became lukewarm.)

The Gospel includes not to be ashamed to declare my name and confess my name to others.

And this is what these people do. They tell others about Jesus Christ who accepts the faith of every one and without any prejudice.

@Your closest friendnt

In fact they would often indeed likely regard it as an honor.

I would be hard-pressed to come up with more than a handful of names of my friends who DON'T have at least one tattoo--and we are all suburban homeschooling moms, ages ranging from early-30s to mid-50s, living in conservative North Texas. greenvneck forums dot thewelltrainedmind dot com

The likely learned attitude of today's Christian 18 year old would probably be that going into a tattoo parlor for a faith-professing ink up is an honor.

Hi @Henry_iain Recently you said: "It might even have some advantages for witnessing. If a tattoo on someone's arm leads to a fruitful conversation about the Gospel I say go for it. "

So it begs the question, Why would it identify someone as lukewarm? as the OP seems to claim.

Who knows someday you may be walking around with a book in your hand that it has the mark of the Cross on it.

@Your closest friendnt Sometimes Bibles have crosses on them, yes.

Sometimes ppl wait a very long while before going into a tattoo parlor. And then finally they do.

Hi @Tristen A while ago you said:

"I have noticed that people with tattoos often have other random people approach them to ask about their tats. In the context of a faith-based tattoo, that can lead to a non-Christian opening the door to a discussion about the Gospel. I can therefore see some merit in that motive."

So it really begs the question, Why would it identify someone as lukewarm? as the OP seems to claim.

No, I have never noticed that.  Lukewarmness is a matter of the heart, not the skin.  I could give testimony of Christians with no tattoos who are pitiful.

Methinks you are a bit biased as you opposed tattoos.  That's your right to believe that.  But you have carried it too far.

Think about how many people wear cross necklaces and have tattoos of Jesus, then look at their works. There are porn actress who wear cross necklaces - even atheists who wear them(Lance Armstrong). What am saying is not that these people should not get tattoos or wear necklaces - I am just saying that by wearing these Christian symbols in vain they are heaping judgement upon themselves. Most of these people are not true saved Christians - just look at America right now, porn imagery is as common as air molecules, women are more promiscuous than ever, homosexuality is worshiped, etc. You ever heard of sturgeon's law - 90% crud?

It does not matter if they are this or that. They are all believers in Jesus Christ and in the righteousness of Jesus Christ and the Heavenly Father accepts them in the name of Jesus.

Anyway the comments Jesus Christ made it was relevant to having fellowship with him.

Which is telling us that all believers are saved in his name but not all believers are having a close fellowship with him.

For that reason we are not to Judge any believer regarding the closeness of his fellowship with Jesus.

They are all children of the Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ accepts their faith in him regardless of the closeness of theit fellowship with him.

This we must understand on our own. A friend is a friend regardless of the closeness of the friendship.

This topic is not about people who get tattoos(obviously some true Christians have gotten tats) this is about the usual lukewarmness of faith commonly found in people who wear such symbols

Thanks this does fall under "For the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart." You did just that.

Now 2nd Cor starts off with "for such" meaning something came before it. When Jesus walked this earth many would come up to Him all the time saying "lord lord" "Rabbi Rabbi" "master master" so we understand Matt 7 a bit more. Anyway none of these verses you posted deal with the topic you started.

You don't like tattoos and cross necklaces then don't ware them.  You know maybe 40+ years ago the lord told many about how some will look and dress and many times it was in great detail about what we would see. Yet said they are of me. I know one .. the way he dresses looks yet has lead more people to Christ then I ever will. The love he has for Christ.. just shines and I don't care for him yet he is of God. I watched a Christian man yelling at people going into some movie and I asked the lord right there "is he of you?" The lord said "if he is not against me he is for me"

Not going to get in to what God told Israel not to do thousands of years ago. It is not what people do today. Kind a funny well this to some is wrong yet so many other things we do with this flesh is ok haha. Thanks I disagree and not here to debate.

This is a good post, yes.

It's what the Lord Jesus said.

Paul also in Galatians 5 speaks of the fruit of the Spirit.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
