I'd like to discuss ascension. To do so I'd like to introduce a paper by the following, giving them credit for any of the writing that I might quote. " This article was written by Shara Drimalla in collaboration with Dr. Ben Tertin. Additional scholar research and resources provided by Dr. Tim Mackie and Dr. Carissa Quinn. Copy-edited by Kenzie Halbert-Howen with additional editorial support from Mike Fleming."

Article or paper is identified and titled: "Why Does the Ascension of Jesus Matter? How Jesus Fulfilled a Biblical Theme When He Was “Taken Up” by  Shara Drimalla & BibleProject Team – Dec 9, 2021

I'd like to discuss it with any and all that are willing  to look it up and give it a read at  bible project dot com

I read the paper cursorily. The authors decided to make symbolism the basis and this, of course, open many avenues. It is each person's right to approach a narrative how they like, but 2nd Peter 1:20 puts God's limits on this

20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

This leaves only two avenues for the serious student of the Bible. (i) To interpret scripture with scripture, and (ii) use nature as Romans 1 tells us that it shows the things of God. But much of scripture is simple and direct. There is no grounds for applying a symbolic, parabolic or hidden meaning. "Thou shalt not murder" is plain and simple. Therefore, any addition or subtraction of meaning must be arguably necessary. I propose a short exegesis on the ascension.

The first point to address regarding the ascension is that there were at least TWO of them.
1. Our Lord Jesus went "first" to the heart of the earth after death (Matt.12:40, Eph.4:8-10). After 3 days he "ROSE", indicating that He was "below". He told Mary in John 20:17 that He had not YET risen to His Father, and that because of this, she was not to touch Him. But he further told Mary to go to His disciples that He was about to ascend to "their" God. That evening Jesus appeared to the disciples and they were able to touch Him. This leaves only one possibility. Jesus ascended to the Father and returned on resurrection day.
2. 40 days later, near the same spot, Jesus was "taken up" (Act.1) and seated Himself above the highest heavens at the right hand of His Father in His Father's throne. He will remain there till He leaves for heaven to be crowned in Revelation Chapter 4.

The reason for the first ascension was twofold.
1. He was the firstborn of the dead and firstfruits of them that slept. As Firstfruits He belonged to God - the Lord of the harvest. In this He fulfilled the Wave Offering. The company of men resurrected just after Him were to fulfill the Wave Offering which was ordained to be a "SHEAF" - not just an ear (Matt.27:52-53, Lev.23:10-11).
2. He was the new High Priest, NOT of Israel, but of those of the heavenly calling. He took His blood into the Holy of Holies in heaven. The Father approved this blood. Jesus could now return to earth and breathe the Holy Spirit into His disciples.

The reason for His second ascension:
Jesus said that it was expedient that He go away (Jn.16:7). The reason is that God had changed His ABODE. From Sinai to the murder of Jesus, God dwelt ina tabernacle made with hands (i) the Tabernacle, (ii) Solomon's Temple and (iii) Zerubbabel's Temple. In John 14 Jesus promised a New House with many abodes for God. Since this was to be a spiritual abode made of the spirits of men to be inhabited by the Spirit of God, physical Jesus must make way for the Spirit. Jesus was removed to take a place of ultimate authority and He returned as the Spirit to be breathed into His disciples.

Heaven.
God is a God of extreme order. To maintain order, God has instituted GOVERNMENT. Although God is sovereign it pleases Him to DELEGATE authority. His whole creature is involved in maintaining order. The peak of this chain of authority is the Throne of God. To man were given TWO duties; (i) To be in the image and likeness of God, and (ii) to first subdue God's opposition on earth and then bring a rule by heavenly standards to earth. In the first 2,000 years, or 2 days, of the risen Christ, He takes on, and subdues the Principalities that govern the Gentiles. In the 3rd day, or Millennium, He subdues men and death. For the first two days of 1,000 years Christ rules from His Father's Throne from heaven, and for the 1,000 years he rule from His OWN Throne, from Jerusalem.

- All rule proceeds from heaven
- God's rule of the earth will be called "The Kingdom (out) of Heaven"
- With Adam, God chnaged the government of earh from an angel to man
- With the "Second Adam" - Christ, God restores the earth and the first man, to rule
_ The new government is made of men witha heavenly calling, heavenly birth and obedience to God in heaven

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
