I understand your comment, NC.  But you know, I think they had already met. Sorta..default_cool2.gif.f9f9be54650aebde06ee6433a615df70.gif

Luke 1:44-45

As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.
Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”

Quote from another;    Elizabeth's baby “leaped in her womb” when Mary entered the house and called a greeting. This incident shows that even though they are not yet born, John acknowledges the superiority of Jesus and recognizes that Jesus is God's son.

Thanks NC..

I wonder if the pre-incarnate Jesus had this meeting between himself and John already arranged via the Holy Spirit?

I don't see how this meeting was enough for John 30 years later to know That Jesus was the one to come beyond a shadow of a doubt. So you may be right and I just do not understand, maybe I should not be in this thread it may be over my head.

You were not so far off...

John 1:

29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him,

and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away

the sin of the world!

30 This is He of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man

who is preferred before me, for He was before me.’

31 I did not know Him; but that He should be revealed to Israel,

therefore I came baptizing with water.”

32 And John bore witness, saying, “I saw the Spirit descending

from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him.

33 I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water

said to me, ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and

remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’

34 And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.”

Mary had to travel far to visit her cousin Elizabeth, so much that

she remained a significant period before returning home, and was

now showing her pregnancy and faced stoning.

Joseph and Mary then had to travel far to Bethlehem...and after

the Christ child's birth, an angel led them into Egypt. When they

returned, they separated themselves from the area of Jerusalem

and went to live in Nazareth in Galilee to the North.

Matthew 2:23 And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth,

that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets,

“He shall be called a Nazarene.” (a separated one).

I hope this clarifies much for you, and don't get frustrated

with the time it takes to learn all these things, and you will reap

the fruit of the Spirit in patience.

Baby John jumped in the womb at Mary's arrival

and her recent conception by the Holy Spirit.

Definitely a spiritual reaction, and not a mental acknowledgement.

The trinity? Mary was filled with the Holy Spirit, and Jesus was the Father made flesh.

How can one explain why John the Baptist, after all he heard, saw

and testified to, would come to question Jesus in this manner?

As we all remember, at the time that John the Baptizer baptized Jesus, he saw the dove ascend from heaven and he even heard God’s voice so we might wonder if John here in this verse was lacking faith, despite seeing the miracles.  But the expectation that the Messiah would be an earthly king was a strong one and deeply entrenched in the Jewish tradition and was shared by John the Baptizer and his disciples. So his question, “Are we to expect a different one?” may have meant, ‘Are we to expect yet another one who will fulfill all the hopes of the Jews?’ Also, prior to his ascension, Jesus’ disciples still held the view that he would at that time deliver Israel from Gentile domination and set up the Kingdom (i.e. restore the reign of the Davidic line) on earth.—Lu 24:21; Ac 1:6.  Thus, the question was predicated not on a lack of faith, but rather on an erroneous view shared by many.

1 John 2

18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

1 John 4

1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Luke 7

21 And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight.

22 Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.

@NConly Helpful verses there warning of antichrists; significant indeed that they are described as 'many antichrists'........

Jesus was busy doing what he came to do, fulfilling prophesy, while the people, possibly John also were expecting a political leader. There was no other like Jesus.

I disagree. If you hadn't brought this up I wouldn't have thought about/remembered how cool it was to hear how those two babies recognized/sensed each other in their mothers womb. Had to have been a spiritual awareness. As far as John having already met Jesus as an adult I do not know, and you have made a good point I had not thought of. I have cousins I have never met, but then they live a long distance away.

That's why I enjoy these replys from other members, I learn...

Thanks, NC..

Well, he is God, so I wouldn't be surprised.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
