Reminders – And we know

We know things. Many of us have been raised from a child hearing about the things of God. The things we know have become familiar to us, so much so that sometimes we discover that what we thought we knew, we don’t really know at all. It is akin to remembering the color of the rugs or towels in the bathroom we use every day. James warns us about this, “For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what manner of man he was.” James 1:23-24 If we become complacent, and dull of hearing the Word of God, we tend not to believe and obey Him.

When the Scriptures use the phrase “we know,” or “you know,” followed by a truth, the author is assuming that we are fully aware of that truth. But that is not always the case. Oftentimes, they are truths that a Christian should know, and perhaps did know at one time, but time has made that truth common or ineffective to him. Sometimes that truth is so familiar, we ignore a different perspective about it or a deeper meaning of it. How often have we heard a teenager say, “I know, but…” then they go on to overrule the “I know” part with excuses to do what is more important to them. We often do the same. A good example is Romans 8:28, a verse we may have quoted to others when tragedy strikes.  But many of us remember this verse only in part saying, “All things work together for good to them that love God,” (as if this will make someone feel better.) But the meaning of this verse goes far beyond making someone feel better. The whole verse says, And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. Now this truth focuses on God rather than our circumstances because the next verse says, “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.” The meaning being that we know the sovereign God allows tribulation in our lives for our good, so that we will be made to be more like the Lord Jesus. Through suffering, we learn to trust and obey Him. Talking about Jesus, the Bible says, “Though He were a Son yet learned He obedience by the things which He suffered.” Hebrews 5:8

Final Thoughts: Using Romans 8:28 is not always a good verse to share with someone who has just suffered a terrible loss or tragedy. No matter how well meaning our intentions are, reminding someone that this tragedy will somehow be a good thing sometime in the future will do little to comfort them. Instead, be a comfort to them by being with them, listening to them, and just loving them. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Then, if an opportunity does arise, direct them to the greatest comforter of all, Jesus. It is how God comforts us.     ph

Half of the message is contained in 1 Corinthians 8:1, of knowledge puffing us up, but of charity edifying/giving us the correct understanding..

1 Corinthians 8:1 Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.
2 And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.

Read now 4 chapters later, and of apostle Paul SHOWING us, the more EXCELLENT WAY.

Again we are told we could have all knowledge/understand all mysteries, and all faith to remove mountains, but with charity missing it is nothing. Charity is not puffed up/ never fails. ( knowledge puffs up.) and knowledge passes away.

1 Corinthians 12:31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

1 Corinthians 13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

1 Corinthians 13:4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

1 Corinthians 13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

This is all the excellent way that apostle Paul is showing to us, because the excellent way had come to him. Knowledge that puffs up was not puffing up apostle Paul, as charity edifies, and charity is not puffed up. Knowledge had passed away from apostle Paul.

When that which is perfect is come, what is in part ( knowledge) is done away.

Doing away/putting away childish things, is when we become a man. 9 the more excellent way)

As a child, ( now) we see through a glass, darkly, not seeing the excellent way, but when that which is perfect has come, ( when Christ has come to us.) then we no longer know in part, ( in knowledge that puffs up.) but we know Christ, even as He knows us.

Hebrews  9 testifies that Christ is come by a more perfect tabernacle. ( greater knowledge of Christ, then the knowledge of the law.)

1 Corinthians 13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

1 Corinthians 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Ephesians 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Hebrews 9:11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

Insight is what was told ( knowledge) wont save us, charity,( kindness, humility, belief in all things) edifies is what is told, will.

Compare the words, of seeing darkly/in a dark place and how that changes through charity..

1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

2 Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

2 Peter 1:6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul had all kinds of knowledge but confessed he only knew in part now in this life. When that which is perfect is come then will he (we) know even as we are known.

In the chapter 8 section, Paul was instructing about food offered to idols and he was instructing those who were more mature, that knew the food was not better or worse to eat if offered to idols, That tey should not cause the weaker brother to stumble but to forego eating it for love's sake.

The knowledge that puffed up was because they ate idol food in front of the weaker bro. instead of by love foregoing eating. Thus by love built them up. As they matured they would learn the doctrine and then eat or not eat as led.

1Jn 3:2  Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

It is then that we shall know as we are known.

We put away childish things, being children is BEFORE THAT FAITH/THT WHICH IS PERFECT, is come.

1 Corinthians 13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

1 Corinthians 14:20 Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.

Galatians 3:23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

The world did not and does not know Him. ( as He is) we cant be the same if we claim to believe in Him.

The Son reveals to us to know Him, ( the Father.) and did not say He partly and darkly reveals to us the Father, but tells us ALL THINGS. ( delivered to the Son of the Father)

Do you think seeing darkly is the equivalent of seeing darkly now ? All things the son has heard of the Father, He has MADE KNOWN TO US.

1 John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

Matthew 11:27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

John 15:15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
