Compromising your faith in God

Perhaps, if what she views gets to you in such a way (I don't watch television programming so I can only imagine how standard fare would affect me), you can engage in something else while she watches? The apostle encourages us to work for the advantage of our neighbor so, for as long as she is not galled by things --- working toward peace with a spouse is also commendable (and wise, heh) --- you could watch your fingernails grow? 

Just kidding about that. You might find something unobtrusive to occupy your attention is the point I'm making. I have learned how to keep pressing on regardless of what surrounds me, for others do not have power over my conscience toward the Lord. Being sent to desperate places by Christ has built this up to be sure. 

Actually, she has become a fanatical basketball fan (I joke that she needs an intervention), so when the NBA season is going we find ourselves watching copious amounts of that!  I like basketball, but she would watch it about every night if her favorite teams were on, and appreciates that we're watching together (you know there's 82 games just in the regular season - that's a lot of basketball, and then there's the playoffs . . .). Anyway, basketball seems more wholesome than a lot of other things.

I've wondered a little if this His doing, that she suddenly began to like this sport so much.  It happened a couple years ago after I had been asking Him if there wasn't something better and less defiling to do with my time in the evening.  God works in mysterious ways . . .

Ha, haven't watched NBA since the three point line  ruined the game. In the good old days I listened to Johnny Most bring me the Celtics on AM radio. And on rare occasions got to go by trolley and subway to the Garden, back in the day of Bob Cousy.

That's an excellent compromise, brother. Better to view basketball than other fare to be certain!
